    • Luis Gil handles Astros in win on Tuesday
Luis Gil allowed one run on one hit in six innings in a win over the Astros.

Advice: Gil was effectively wild on Tuesday, which is something we’ve come to expect from the 25-year-old. He walked four on the day and had just a 42 percent zone rate; however, he also had a 23 percent whiff rate and struck out five batters. Much of Gil’s success came on the changeup which had a 40 percent whiff rate, while his four-seam fastball was his most effective strike pitch. At some point, Gil is not going to be able to keep walking this tightrope, but he has a 2.92 ERA on the season and has two solid outings coming up against the Rays and White Sox. • Kutter Crawford strikes out six in loss to Braves
Kutter Crawford allowed two earned runs over six innings while striking out six in the Red Sox loss to the Braves on Tuesday.

Advice: Crawford gave up a two-run bomb to Jarred Kelenic in the third inning and scattered four more hits across six frames. The righty lowered his ERA to 1.75 on the year, and has now struck out six or more batters in six of his eight starts on the year. He’s off to a surprisingly strong start for the Red Sox this season, and will look to keep things going on Monday against the Rays. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago

    • José Berríos coughs up 8 runs in loss to Phillies
José Berríos allowed eight runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Tuesday.

Advice: Berríos was able to strike out seven on the day, compared to just two walks, and he allowed just three hard-hit balls all day. However, that led to four extra-base hits and two home runs, so the Phillies made the most of their contact. Berríos was able to post a solid 27 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW on the day and allowed an average exit velocity of 90.4 mph, but he put himself in tough spots by throwing just 42 percent of his pitches in the strike zone. All in all, it feels like more of an off night for Berríos than the sign of any major regression. He now has a 2.85 ERA on the season and will get another tough test against the Orioles next week. • Bobby Miller throws another bullpen session
Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw another bullpen session earlier this week.

Advice: Miller is expected to get in another throwing session later this week before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. The hard-throwing 25-year-old righty has been out since mid-April due to right shoulder inflammation. It sounds like he’ll be ready to return to the Dodgers’ starting rotation before the end of May. • Rutschman extends hit streak to five in loss
Adley Rutschman went 1-for-4 in the Orioles’ 3-0 loss to the Nationals on Tuesday.

Advice: Offense was hard to come by for the Orioles in this one, as Rutschman’s hit was one of just three the Birds recorded on the evening. The real story of the night was the Nationals pitching, as starter Trevor Williams struck out eight batters over five innings while the bullpen notched four more K’s. Rutschman has now hit safely in five straight games and is 8-for-25 at the plate in the month of May. Rotoworld Today, 6:20 pm

    • Trevor Williams strikes out eight in win over O’s
Trevor Williams struck out eight over five shutout innings on Tuesday in a win over the Orioles.

Advice: Williams got off to a strong start in this one, striking out eight of the first 15 batters he faced while allowing just one baserunner. It was a strong outing for Williams, whose eight strikeouts tied a career-high. He was pulled after 77 pitches, with short outings being par for the course for him this season. Williams lowered his ERA to 1.96 on the year and has allowed one earned run or less in five of his seven starts on the year. Williams will look to continue his hot start on Monday against the lowly White Sox. Rotoworld Today, 6:09 pm

    • Zach Eflin completes seven in win over White Sox
Zach Eflin yielded one run over seven innings on Tuesday in a win over the White Sox.

Advice: Eflin struck out three and limited a lifeless Chicago offense to just six baserunners over seven frames. He generated only four swinging strikes on 94 pitches and finished with a lackluster 24 percent CSW. It was a nice bounce-back effort after giving up at least three earned runs in each of his previous two outings, including a clunker against the White Sox back on April 26. He’ll bring a solid 3.75 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 39/4 K/BB ratio across 48 innings (eight starts) into a road matchup on Monday against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

    • Returning this weekend
Astros manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that Javier (neck) will return from the injured list this weekend to start against the Tigers, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Advice: Javier will return this weekend after missing just under a month due to the neck issue, though it's unclear exactly which day he'll take the mound in Detroit. The 27-year-old threw 68 pitches over 3.1 frames in his lone rehab outing and may face some minor workload limitations in his first outing back with the Astros. Rotowire.com Today, 2:54 pm
    • Espada: Cristian Javier to return this weekend
Cristian Javier (neck) will return this weekend to start against the Tigers.

Advice: Astros manager Joe Espada confirmed what was being widely speculated that Javier would return to Houston’s injury-plagued starting rotation mix after making a minor league rehab start on Saturday for Double-A Corpus Christi. The 27-year-old righty might need some time to knock off the rust, but there likely won’t be any workload restrictions after throwing 68 pitches in his lone rehab outing. Rotoworld Today, 2:08 pm
