    • Alex Bregman hits three-run homer in Astros’ win
      Alex Bregman went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and two walks Friday as the Astros edged the Twins 13-12.

      Advice: Bregman’s seemingly meaningless homer made it a 13-5 game in the ninth before the Twins almost came all of the way back in the bottom of the inning.     • Cole Ragans pitches well in no decision vs. COL
      Cole Ragans didn’t factor into the decision despite allowing just two runs in seven innings with eight strikeouts against the Rockies on Friday.

      Advice: Ragans did walk three and gave up five hits, but for the most part, it was a very strong outing and a nice bounce back from his struggles against the Guardians (4 2/3 innings, five runs). The left-hander has shown that 2023 was no fluke with a 3.28 ERA and 134/37 K/BB over his 19 starts and 109 2/3 innings of work.     • Nestor Cortes strikes out eight against Red Sox
      Nestor Cortes held the Red Sox to one run in six innings and struck out eight in the Yankees’ 3-1 victory Friday.

      Advice: Cortes gave up 410-, 397- and 386-foot flyballs, but Yankee Stadium managed to hold two of them, with only Romy Gonzalez leaving the yard.       Marte exited Friday's game against the Padres due to lower-back tightness, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

      Advice: Marte had gone 0-for-4 during Friday's loss before Randal Grichuk pinch hit for him in the ninth inning, and manager Torey Lovullo confirmed after the game that Marte's removal was due to a lingering back issue that has been bothering him for a while.     • Albert Suárez limits Athletics to two runs in win
      Albert Suárez limited the Athletics to two runs in six innings to get a win Friday.

      Advice: He struck out six while allowing four hits. Two of those four hits were solo homers, but outside of the roundtrippers it was a very strong start for the 34-year-old in what has been one of the most surprising stories of 2024. Suarez now has an ERA of 2.48, and he doesn’t appear to be giving up a spot in this Baltimore rotation. His last start before the break is scheduled Thursday against the Cubs.       Suarez (5-2) earned the win Friday against Oakland, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk over six innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: The 34-year-old required only 86 pitches to collect his second consecutive quality start. He held the Athletics in check, as the only blemishes on his outing came via solo shots yielded to Miguel Andujar and Shea Langeliers.       Advice: The veteran third baseman cracked a 404-foot, three-run blast off Kody Funderburk in the ninth inning for his first long ball since June 3. This marks the seventh season Bregman has reached double-digit homers in his nine-year career. Despite the recent power outage, the Houston third baseman has still been hitting well over his last 25 games, batting .295 (31-for-105) with 18 runs scored and 11 RBI.
