      Gilbert (3-3) took the loss against Houston on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out five batters over six innings.

      Advice: Gilbert began his outing with three scoreless frames, but homers by Alex Bregman and Victor Caratini plated three runs for the Astros across the fourth and fifth innings. Gilbert still had a chance to extend his three-game quality-start streak, but that was extinguished when he gave up another run in the sixth.     • Nick Pivetta strikes out nine, still takes loss
      Nick Pivetta struck out nine while allowing just two runs over 5 2/3 innings, but still was charged with a loss Thursday against the Tigers.

      Advice: Pivetta gave up only three hits while walking two. He allowed a solo homer to Akil Baddoo, and another run crossed on an RBI single from Mark Canha. The right-hander has struck out at least eight batters in three of his last four chances, and he’s given up no more than two runs in those outings. Pivetta can drive fantasy managers mad with the occasional clunker, but the strikeouts are usually there. He’ll take a 4.08 ERA into his next scheduled outing against Atlanta on Wednesday.     • Logan Gilbert serves up two homers in loss to Astros
      Logan Gilbert allowed four runs over six innings on Thursday in a loss to the Astros.

      Advice: Gilbert was burned by the long ball in this one as homers by Alex Bregman and Victor Caratini in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, accounted for nearly all of the damage against him. He finished with five strikeouts and only issued one walk. It was just the third time in 12 starts this season that he’s surrendered four earned runs or more. He’ll carry a strong 3.29 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 71/20 K/BB ratio across 76 2/3 innings (12 starts) into a tasty road matchup on Wednesday against the Athletics. Rotoworld Thursday, 3:40 pm
       
    • Another strong outing in win
      Lugo (9-1) earned the win Wednesday over the Twins, allowing one run on six hits and three walks while striking out five over six innings.

      Advice: Lugo won five of his six starts in May, allowing just nine runs (eight earned) over 40.1 innings in the month. This was just the fourth time in 12 starts Lugo has allowed nine or more baserunners, as he's been one of the most dominant pitchers in the majors this season. The right-hander is now at a 1.72 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 66:18 K:BB over 78.1 innings this season. Lugo's next start is projected to be at Cleveland in a battle between the AL Central's two best teams.       Seth Lugo stayed on track allowing just one earned run across six innings in a 6-1 win over the Twins. He struck out five and walked three.

      Advice: Lugo continued his stellar season earning his ninth win. He only induced nine whiffs and the Twins made plenty of hard contact with nine hard-hit balls, but Lugo once again managed to limit damage.     • Yu Darvish leaves start with hamstring tightness
      Yu Darvish was pulled from Wednesday’s start against the Marlins after just three innings due to tightness in his left hamstring.

      Advice: Before exiting, the 37-year-old hurler had given up three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk. He’ll head for further evaluation to determine the severity of the injury, but you’d have to think that his next start — at a minimum — are in jeopardy at this point. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:25 pm

      Skenes (2-0) picked up the win in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader split with the Tigers, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out nine.

      Advice: After the Pirates got blanked 8-0 by Tarik Skubal and the Tigers in the opener, Skenes made sure his squad wouldn't get swept as he generated 19 swinging strikes among his 96 pitches in a dominant performance. The rookie right-hander has reeled off three straight quality starts after lasting just four innings in his big-league debut May 11, and Skenes will carry a 2.45 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 30:5 K:BB through 22 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Dodgers.       Advice: The 22-year-old right-hander scattered just three hits and one walk on the day. The Tigers scratched out a run in the second inning on a sacrifice fly, then Matt Vierling crushed a solo homer in the sixth inning, but that was really the extent of the Tigers’ offense against him. Skenes generated a whopping 19 swinging strikes on 96 pitches in the contest — 11 on his splitter, seven on his fastball and one on his slider — while posting a strong CSW of 32 percent.
