    • Looking good in batting practice
Alvarez (thumb) was reaching exit velocities over 100 miles per hour during batting practice over the weekend, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The 22-year-old catcher is still wearing a splint on his surgically repaired thumb, however, and the Mets aren't going to rush him back from the 10-day injured list. The team may also use his recovery period to have him work on his positioning behind the plate, as Alvarez has a tendency to be overeager reaching for pitches and is susceptible to getting his glove hand smacked by a swing. Alvarez was batting .236 (13-for-55) with one home run and eight RBI through 16 games when he was injured in mid-April. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:43 am

    • Not in Monday's lineup
D'Arnaud is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Sean Murphy is making his long-awaited return from the injured list Monday, so d'Arnaud will begin this one on the bench. It's likely that Murphy won't shoulder too big of a workload initially, so expect d'Arnaud to continue seeing plenty of reps. The 35-year-old should retain value in two-catcher leagues even with his playing time expected to dip. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:20 am

    • Triples, scores in loss
Carroll went 1-for-3 with a walk, a triple and a run scored in Sunday's 3-1 loss to Miami.

Advice: Arizona's offense couldn't get anything going until Carroll tripled and scored in the bottom of the eighth inning. It was the outfielder's fourth triple of the season, all coming within the last eight games. However, there's been little to celebrate for Carroll, whose .188 average and .096 ISO are miles below what they were in 2023. Rotowire.com Monday, 4:13 am
    • Smacks 18th homer
Tucker went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk Sunday against the Athletics.

Advice: The Astros scored all five of their runs in the fourth inning, and Tucker delivered the final blow with his 18th homer of the season. He's gone yard 11 times across 23 games in May, good for a 1.127 OPS. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:18 am

    • Kyle Tucker homers in win over A’s
Kyle Tucker went 1-for-4 with a walk and home run in a 5-2 win over the A’s on Sunday.

Advice: Another day, another Tucker home run. The 27-year-old hit a 403-foot shot off Aaron Brooks that left the bat at 105 mph. It was Tucker’s 18th of the season and he’s now up to 39 RBI to go along with a .280 average. He’s looking like one of the best first-round picks for this year’s fantasy baseball season. • Corbin Carroll triples and scores in loss to Fish
Corbin Carroll tripled, walked and scored a run as the Diamondbacks fell to the Marlins on Sunday afternoon in Miami.

Advice: The 23-year-old outfielder smacked a one-out triple off of Calvin Faucher in the eighth inning and dashed home with the Diamondbacks’ first run on a ground ball off the bat of Lourdes Gurriel Jr. While Carroll’s bat has perked up over the past couple of weeks, he’s still slashing an anemic .188/.274/.284 on the season to go along with two homers, 17 RBI and nine stolen bases. • Stays hot Sunday
Witt went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Rays.

Advice: Witt took reliever Shawn Armstrong deep in the sixth inning to open the scoring. The homer was Witt's fourth over his last five games, and he's gone 14-for-38 (.368) during his nine-game hitting streak. The shortstop continues to cruises with a stellar .307/.366/.561 slash line while adding nine homers, 36 RBI, a major-league-leading 48 runs scored, 16 stolen bases, 15 doubles and six triples over 54 contests this season. • Bobby Witt Jr. stays hot, homers in win
Bobby Witt Jr. went 2-for-5 with a home run on Sunday against the Rays.

Advice: Both of Witt’s hits in this one had at least a 110 MPH exit velocity as he continued to hit the ball with imposing authority. Few hitters in baseball are swinging it better than Witt who has four home runs and 13 RBI in his last seven games. He’s fully ascended into super-stardom and has an argument for the most valuable hitter in fantasy baseball. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:59 pm
    • Hitless but makes impact
Carroll went 0-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Marlins.

Advice: Carroll managed to make an impact without a hit. He led off the bottom of the first inning with a walk then stole a base before scoring the club's first run. An inning later, his sacrifice fly plated what turned out to be the winning run. The move back up to the top of the order hasn't shaken Carroll out of a season-opening slump. He was batting .203 as of May 5, when manager Torey Lovullo moved him back into the familiar leadoff role. Seventeen games later, Carroll's average has dipped to .186. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:20 am
