    • Bobby Witt Jr. scores run, picks up two hits in loss
Bobby Witt Jr. went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in a loss to the Rockies on Friday.

Advice: Witt Jr. has doubled 25 times in 2024, and he came around to score after his two-bagger Friday on a single by Salvador Perez. He came up just short in the All-Star voting, but barring something completely unforeseeable he’ll definitely be involved in the game with a slash of .321/.371/.559 over his 90 games. • Locks down 14th save
Phillips struck out the side to earn the save in Friday's 8-5 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Phillips needed just 12 pitches (nine strikes) to set the Brewers down in order to protect a three-run lead. It's an encouraging sign, as he had allowed a run in each of his last two outings. Phillips is up to 14 saves and one hold through 26.2 innings this season, and he's maintained a strong 2.03 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 30:8 K:BB. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:16 pm
    • Second straight poor start
Glasnow allowed five runs on three hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings in a no-decision versus the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: All of the damage came in the fourth inning between a Willy Adames RBI single and a Rhys Hoskins grand slam. Glasnow has allowed five runs in back-to-back starts, though he's avoided the loss in both of those outings. For the season, he has a 3.47 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 143:29 K:BB through 109 innings over 18 starts. He's projected to make his next start at Detroit rather than Philadelphia due to the Dodgers inserting Justin Wrobleski into the rotation for a spot start Sunday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:13 pm
    • Jurickson Profar ties game with solo blast in 9th
Jurickson Profar hit a game-tying homer in the ninth to help the Padres to a victory on Friday over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Profar tied the game at 8-8 with a homer off Paul Sewald in the bottom of the ninth. The 31-year-old continues to impress in his breakout campaign with a .316/.409/.490 slash along with 13 homers and 57 RBI. Just like we all expected. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:59 pm
    • Tanner Houck pulled during sloppy fourth inning
Tanner Houck was charged with three runs — one earned — in 3 1/3 innings Friday versus the Yankees.

Advice: Houck lost his command after a brief rain delay interrupted his start tonight, but he still would have gotten through four scoreless if Enmanuel Valdez hadn’t botched a double play ball, resulting in no outs. At the same time, it wasn’t Valdez’s fault that Houck walked three in the inning. On the night, just 33 of his 68 pitches were strikes. It was a second straight rough outing, though at least this one didn’t take a toll on his ERA, which is still fifth in the AL at 2.68. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:58 pm
    • Clay Holmes blows save by giving up homer
Clay Holmes took his fifth blown save after giving up a game-tying two-run homer Friday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Holmes retired the first two batters he faced, but then a single and a homer ruined his night. The homer, a 405-foot blast from Masataka Yoshida, was just the second he’s allowed in 36 innings this season. He’s been stuck on 19 saves since June 9, and while that’s mostly the fault of his teammates, he has given up runs in five of his last seven appearances. Even though Holmes is almost certainly one of the game’s 15- or 20-best relievers, there is the chance that the Yankees will supplant him in the closer’s role at the trade deadline. • Evan Phillips strikes out side in 14th save
Evan Phillips struck out the side while picking up a save Friday for the Dodgers in their 8-5 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Phillips was filthy while picking up the save, needing only 12 pitches to fan the side. He still hasn’t blown a save in 2024, and his 14 stops are more impressive when you consider he missed close to a month with his hamstring strain. Especially when you consider who he plays for on top of his talent, Phillips should remain an elite closing option for the foreseeable future. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:45 pm
    • Glasnow allows grand slam in no-decision vs. MIL
Tyler Glasnow went six innings while surrendering five runs in a start against the Brewers while not qualifying for a decision.

Advice: If you take away one swing, this start looks a heck of a lot better. Glasnow allowed only three hits while striking out seven and walking two, but whenever you give up a grand slam, you’re literally taking away a chance for a quality start. In this case, the bases were jammed and then cleared by Rhys Hoskins to give Milwaukee a 5-2 lead in the fifth. Fortunately for Glasnow and the Dodgers, Los Angeles was able to score six unanswered to get the win. His final start before the All-Star break is scheduled against the Tigers on Friday. • Blows save Friday
Finnegan blew a save against the Cardinals on Friday, allowing two hits and one run in the ninth inning.

Advice: Finnegan was summoned to protect a 5-4 lead in the ninth inning but surrendered a solo home run to Willson Contreras. The closer had thrown five straight scoreless appearances but left a 2-2 fastball down the middle for his fourth blown save of the season. On the year, he has secured 23 saves with a 2.17 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 39:12 K:BB over 37.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:11 pm
