  • Ruf has three hits, homer in win over Mets
Darin Ruf went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Mets.

Advice: Ruf swatted a three-run bomb in the fourth inning as the Phillies hung 10 runs on the Mets in the victory. It was Ruf's second homer in as many games after going his first 37 games without one. Ineffectiveness and the emergence of Tommy Joseph have relegated Ruf to a reserve role, and the 30-year-old will need a big spring to earn a spot on the 2017 roster. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:13 pm
  • Votto's 26th homer leads Reds past Brewers
Joey Votto went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and three walks as the Reds downed the Brewers 6-1 on Saturday.

Advice: Votto took Brewers starter Taylor Jungmann deep in the first inning for the two-run dong, his 26th of the season. The 33-year-old is hitting .320/.433/.533 with 89 RBI and 94 runs scored -- amazing after he hit .252 with an .832 OPS in the first half -- and he ranks among the league leaders in a number of offensive categories. It's a shame the Reds haven't been able to do more during the height of his brilliance. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:59 pm
  • Turner goes 3-for-3 with two RBI, two runs
Justin Turner went 3-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Saturday's demolition of the Rockies.

Advice: He also walked twice and reached base in all his plate appearances. All three hits were singles, two of them drove in runs. He is batting .274 with 27 home runs and 89 RBI in 533 at-bats. The 31-year-old journeyman has been an extremely effective hitter since joining the Dodgers in 2014. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:46 pm
  • Freeman hits 32nd homer, drives in two
Freddie Freeman went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in a loss to the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Freeman had an RBI single in the first inning before launching his 32nd homer of the year in the sixth. The 32 home runs are a career best, as are his 95 runs scored and six steals. He probably won't touch the 109 RBI he collected in 2013 -- he's got 87 RBI now, with a handful of games left to go -- but there's no question it's been a tremendous year for the 27-year-old. • Dietrich launches seventh homer versus Braves
Derek Dietrich hit a two-run home run in Saturday's win over the Braves.

Advice: Dietrich hit the two-run blast off Braves starter Aaron Blair in the first inning. He finished 1-for-4 in the game. Dietrich now has seven homers and 42 RBI in 122 games, batting a respectable .286/.381/.437 in that span. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:17 pm

  • Bell hits third homer in loss to Nationals
Josh Bell hit his third homer of the year in Saturday's loss to the Nationals.

Advice: Bell, starting in right field and batting second, took Nats starter Joe Ross deep in the third inning for what turned out to be the Pirates' only run of the contest. The dinger was his third in 38 games this year, and he's got 18 RBI and 16 runs scored as well. Bell is hitting .287/.383/.444 and should be a big part of the Bucs' 2017 team. • Abreu goes 3-for-5 with an RBI on Saturday
Jose Abreu went 3-for-5 and drove in a run during Saturday's victory over the Indians.

Advice: He smacked an RBI single in the first inning and was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. He added a couple more singles later in the game and is now batting .299/.353/.480 with 25 homers and 97 RBI. His power output is down a bit this season despite home runs being way up around the league. Abreu is among a small group of players who can provide high batting averages without sacrificing home run power. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:43 pm
  • Frazier swats 39th bomb in Saturday's win
Todd Frazier went 2-for-5 with a home run and scored twice in a win over the Indians on Saturday.

Advice: The solo longball in the sixth inning was his 39th round-tripper of the season. Frazier's .225 batting average is painful but he is good everywhere else. He has 96 RBI and 84 runs scored and has even stolen 12 bases. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:37 pm
  • Goldschmidt collects three hits against O's
Paul Goldschmidt went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's loss to the Orioles.

Advice: Goldy had three of the Diamondbacks' seven hits in the loss, and he scored their lone run in the ninth inning. A strong finish could earn the 29-year-old his fourth consecutive .300-plus season, as he's now hitting .301 (with a .912 OPS) after Saturday's good game. He's having another fantasy MVP-worthy season, hitting 23 homers with 90 RBI, 102 runs scored and 27 stolen bases overall. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:19 pm
  • Mancini launches third homer in four games
Trey Mancini hit his third home run in four games in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Mancini took D'backs starter Robbie Ray deep for a solo shot in the fourth inning. The 24-year-old has four hits in 11 at-bats since being brought up by the Orioles, but three of those have left the yard. He could be setting himself up to enter next spring as the favorite for the Orioles' designated hitter job with his hot finish. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:16 pm
  • Davis collects two hits, two RBI vs. D'backs
Chris Davis went 2-for-4 with two RBI in a win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Advice: The D'backs intentionally walked Adam Jones to get to Davis with the bases loaded in the fourth inning, and he made them pay by coming through with a two-run single. The multi-hit game was his first since September 6. Davis is hitting just .220/.331/.469 but has 38 homers, 84 RBI and 95 runs scored overall. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:12 pm
  • Trumbo blasts 45th homer in win over D'backs
Mark Trumbo went 2-for-3 with his 45th home run of the year in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The homer was Trumbo's second in as many days. Every new dinger adds to Trumbo's already impressive year, as he's got a career-high 45 homers with 104 RBI and 89 runs scored. The free agent-to-be is going to get paid in a big way this winter. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:00 pm
  • Forsythe hits 20-homer plateau for first time
Logan Forsythe hit his 20th home run of the season in Saturday's loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: He got there in legitimate fashion, taking all-everything closer Craig Kimbrel deep for a solo shot in the ninth inning. It's the first time in Forsythe's career that he's hit 20 homers in a season. The 29-year-old is batting .274/.344/.464 with 52 RBI, 75 runs scored and six steals to date. • Miller knocks two-run double against Red Sox
Brad Miller hit a two-run double and scored a run against the Red Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Miller finished the game 1-for-3 with the run-scoring double in the third inning. The 26-year-old has had a ridiculously productive season in 2016, swatting 30 homers with 80 RBI and 71 runs scored in 145 games. Miller is batting .250/.309/.498 overall. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 7:38 pm

  • Yangervis Solarte returns after wife's death
Yangervis Solarte has rejoined the Padres.

Advice: He hasn't played since his wife passed away from cancer last weekend. Solarte has had a strong season for the Padres, hitting .284 with a career-high 15 HR and 68 RBI. Ryan Schimpf handed third base during his absence. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 3:34 pm

Matt Holliday (thumb) will not take batting practice this weekend.

Advice: He's going to meet with a specialist and hopefully try again Monday. • Hosmer clubs three-run homer to beat Tigers
Eric Hosmer dealt a blow to the Tigers playoff chances on Saturday, clubbing a three-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning, propelling the Royals to a 7-4 victory in Motown.

Advice: The Royals entered the inning trailing 4-2 and were down to their final strike before Paulo Orlando came through with a two-run double to tie the game. That set the stage for Hosmer's heroic blast off of Tigers' closer Francisco Rodriguez. It was Hosmer's lone hit in five at-bats on the afternoon. He's been a terrific source of run production this season, slashing .268/.329/.434 with 24 homers and 100 RBI. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 2:34 pm
  • Flores (wrist) could be done for the year
ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports Wilmer Flores (wrist) may be done for the season.

Advice: He isn't close to swinging a bat and has already received two cortisone shots since going down with a bruised wrist two weeks ago. Flores could return if the Mets make a deep postseason run but it's a near certainty he won't be back for the final week of the regular season. Assuming that's the case, Flores will close out the 2016 campaign with 16 HR, 49 RBI and a .267 average across 307 at-bats. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 1:46 pm

  • Cron has three hits, two RBI in win over HOU
C.J. Cron went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in Friday’s 10-6 victory over the Astros.

Advice: Cron had two doubles and a single on the night. He knocked in a run with a double in the second inning and later plated the go-ahead run with a single off Ken Giles in the ninth. The 26-year-old got off to a hot start after returning from the disabled list last month, but he hasn’t been able to sustain it in September. This was his first multi-hit game since September 5. Rotoworld.com Friday, 9:10 pm
  • Pujols has three hits in win over Astros
Albert Pujols finished 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, and three runs scored Friday versus the Astros.

Advice: Pujols now has five multi-hit games in his last nine. He has improved his batting average from .261 to .269 in the process. The 36-year-old might not be the offensive force he once was, but fantasy owners aren’t going to complain about 31 homers and 116 RBI. Rotoworld.com Friday, 9:06 pm
  • Trumbo smashes walk-off homer in 12th
Mark Trumbo blasted a walk-off solo homer in the 12th inning on Friday, delivering the Orioles a much-needed 3-2 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: With the victory, the O's kept pace in the battle for the second wild card, sitting half of a game behind the Tigers. In typical Orioles fashion, all of their scoring came via the long ball. Pedro Alvarez got the club on the board with a solo shot in the eighth, Matt Wieters tied it with a blast in the ninth and Trumbo with the game-winner in the 12th. He finished the night 2-for-5 and is now slashing .247/.309/.521 with 44 homers and 103 RBI on the year. Rotoworld.com Friday, 9:02 pm
  • Duda doubles in win over Phillies
Lucas Duda went 1-for-3 with a double against the Phillies on Friday.

Advice: Mets manager Terry Collins went with Duda on Friday after watching him almost hit a game-winning homer in Thursday’s game. He’s being thrown into the fire, but it looks like he’s getting his timing back at the plate. James Loney has been handling first base duties since the end of May, but that time could be coming to an end. Rotoworld.com Friday, 8:14 pm
  • Freeman extends hitting streak to 27 games
Freddie Freeman extended his hitting streak to 27 games in Friday’s win over the Marlins.

Advice: Freeman finished the night 1-for-3 with a double, two walks, and a run scored. He’s hitting a cool .365 during his career-long hitting streak and has pulled his batting average up from .289 to .303 along the way. Rotoworld.com Friday, 7:57 pm

Advice: Holliday took live BP on Friday with no issues but the Cardinals want to see him do it once more before they return him to the active roster. • Mancini belts three-run homer against Red Sox
Trey Mancini went 2-for-3 with a double and a three-run home run in Thursday's loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Mancini was the only Orioles hitter with an answer for David Price and company, collecting two of the team's six hits and notching the only two Orioles extra-base hits in the game. The three-run homer in the third inning came off David Price. It was the 24-year-old's second homer in three games since being promoted on September 18 after he hit 20 homers between Double-A and Triple-A this year. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 9:13 pm
  • Pujols launches two-run home run in victory
Albert Pujols went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Astros.

Advice: Pujols connected for a two-run shot with one out in the first inning, burning Mike Fiers for the only runs in the 2-0 win. The veteran slugger is no longer a triple-slash monster with his .265/.320/.456 mark, but his counting stats have been fantastic. In 577 at-bats, Pujols has clocked 31 homers and driven in 116 runs. • Paul Goldschmidt propels Arizona with 2 HRs
Paul Goldschmidt homered twice to plate all three Diamondbacks runs in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Padres.

Advice: With 23 homers and 90 RBI, Goldschmidt isn't quite tearing it up in the power categories this year. Still, he doesn't always get a lot to hit as by far the biggest threat in the Arizona lineup. It's Goldschmidt, not Joey Votto, currently leading the NL in walks with 106. • Freeman goes 2-for-4 on Wednesday
Freddie Freeman extended his hitting streak to 25 games by going 2-for-4 in a win over the Mets on Wednesday.

Advice: Both hits were singles. The hitting streak is a career-long for Freeman. The first baseman had a rough start to the season but has put up monster stats in the second half. Overall he is batting .303/.398/.565 with 31 home runs, 83 RBI and 93 runs scored on a low scoring team. His prowess has gone largely unnoticed due to the dismal season Atlanta is having. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 8:43 pm
  • Miller drills two solo home runs as Rays lose
Brad Miller smoked a pair of solo home runs on Wednesday to lift his total to 30 longballs on the season.

Advice: His previous career high was 11. His first homer came in the middle of back-to-back-to-back jacks off Masahiro Tanaka in the third inning. He went deep again with the bases empty in the eighth inning. Miller has a .249 batting average with 77 RBI and the 30 homers. It was his lone hit in four at-bats on the night, and one of two homers that the O's hit in the contest joining teammate Pedro Alvarez. • Duda (back) returning as pinch-hitter Sat.
Lucas Duda (back) will be activated from the disabled list on Saturday.
