  • Jon Lester fires six scoreless in no-decision
Jon Lester was terrific in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Sunday, scattering three hits over six shutout innings of baseball.

Advice: The veteran left-hander punched out six on the afternoon and walked two. He could have continued dominating, as he had thrown only 98 pitches, but was lifted for a pinch hitter in the seventh inning. Lester has been outstanding for the Cubs this season, compiling a 14-4 record, 2.70 ERA and 1.07 WHIP. Rotoworld.com Today, 5:01 pm
  • Arenado homers, triples, drives in three in W
Nolan Arenado was perfect in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Nationals, finishing 4-for-4 with a two-run home run and three total RBI.

Advice: Arenado opened his immaculate afternoon with an RBI single in the first inning. He would crunch a two-run homer in the third. The star third baseman finished a double shy of the cycle. For the 2016 campaign as a whole, he is hitting a beautiful .291/.361/.576 with 35 homers and 111 RBI over 495 at-bats. On the micro level, he has homered in five of his last 10 games. • Dyson pitches into, out of danger for save
Sam Dyson pitched into danger but earned his 29th save Sunday versus the Indians.

Advice: Dyson gave up a leadoff single to Francisco Lindor in the top of the ninth inning and then issues back-to-back one-out walks to Carlos Santana and Jose Ramirez, but he rallied to strike out Tyler Naquin and then got Abraham Almonte to fly out to end it. Dyson has struggled lately, but his job seems safe for now. Rotoworld.com Today, 2:54 pm
  • Rays option Steve Geltz back to Triple-A
Rays optioned RHP Steve Geltz to Triple-A Durham.

Advice: Geltz was just with the club for one day as an extra bullpen arm and will head back down to make room on the roster for Alex Cobb who is set to be activated on Monday. Expect to see Geltz back with the big league club when rosters expand later this week. Rotoworld.com Today, 2:53 pm

  • Jefry Marte homers, drives in three vs. DET
Jefry Marte went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and three total RBI in Sunday's win over the Tigers.

Advice: Marte launched a two-run home run off Anibal Sanchez in the fifth inning and came through with a sacrifice fly just one frame later. He just returned to the Angels on Friday after being away from the team to handle a personal matter earlier in the week. For the season, the 25-year-old first baseman is working to a .243/.286/.453 triple-slash with 10 homers and 30 RBI over 181 at-bats. Rotoworld.com Today, 2:38 pm

  • Skaggs blanks Tigers over six innings
Tyler Skaggs was fantastic in Sunday's win over the Tigers, allowing just two hits over six shutout frames.

Advice: Skaggs struck out six and walked two on the afternoon. He finished off his six scoreless frames having thrown 91 pitches (60 strikes). The 25-year-old southpaw has been an all-or-nothing fantasy option since returning from Tommy John surgery earlier this summer. In seven starts, he has notched three shutout performances. He surrendered four or more runs in each of his other four outings. It all equals out to a 4.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. A road start against the Mariners shows next on his schedule as he tries to build a bit of consistency through to the end of the season. Rotoworld.com Today, 2:26 pm
  • Sanchez falls back to earth with two hits
Gary Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a double in Sunday's loss to the Orioles.

Advice: Sanchez entered Sunday's action having homered in 10 of his last 12 games, including three straight, but he found no such success on Sunday. He settled for a double and a single instead, like a mere mortal. In 84 at-bats this season, the young backstop is slashing a silly .405/.468/.893 with 11 homers and 21 RBI. • Adam Eaton day-to-day with bruised forearm
Adam Eaton exited Sunday's game versus the Mariners with a bruised right forearm.

Advice: Eaton was hit in the forearm by a Taijuan Walker pitch in the fourth inning. The good news is X-rays came back negative and he's considered day-to-day. Rotoworld.com Today, 12:45 pm

  • Trayce Thompson (back) to be re-examined
Trayce Thompson (back) will be re-examined on Monday or Tuesday in hopes of gaining clearance for increased activities.

Advice: Thompson hasn't been able to do much since being diagnosed with two stress fractures in his lower back earlier this month. The outfielder said Saturday that he feels "great" and is still hopeful of returning at some point this season, but it's not a given. Rotoworld.com Today, 8:38 am

  • Yoenis Cespedes (quad) sitting out on Sunday
Yoenis Cespedes (quad) is not in the Mets' lineup Sunday.

Advice: Cespedes had a minor flare-up Saturday with the quad injury he just returned from. The feeling right now is that it's likely to be just a one-day absence, but we'll have to wait and see how Cespedes recovers. The Mets have Curtis Granderson in left field and Alejandro De Aza in center Sunday. Rotoworld.com Today, 7:47 am

Chris Herrmann (hamstring) could return from the disabled list when rosters expand on September 1.

  • Suarez gives up three runs in 4 1/3 innings
Albert Suarez got hit with a loss after giving up three runs in 4 1/3 innings to the Braves on Saturday.

Advice: All of the damage came on a three-run bomb by Matt Kemp in the fourth inning. Suarez fanned five batters while giving up two free passes and five base hits. He is now 3-2 with a 4.35 ERA in 60 innings split between the rotation and the bullpen. He has also been called up and sent down to Triple-A multiple times this year. He is no more than a shaky streamer in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:50 pm
  • Kemp crushes three-run jack to beat Giants
Matt Kemp got only one hit on Saturday but it was the only one that mattered as his three-run jack in the fourth inning carried the Braves to victory over the Giants.

Advice: The blast plated the only runs his team would score but it was enough to win the game. Kemp has been a valuable fantasy contributor this year with a .260 batting average, 26 home runs and 84 RBI. He has yet to steal a base though. Back when he was a perennial first round pick his owners could count on him for 30-40 steals per season. Without those bags Kemp is merely a mid-round draft pick. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:35 pm
  • Griffin tosses six shutout innings vs Indians
A.J. Griffin turned in six shutout innings to beat the Indians 7-0 on Saturday.

Advice: He gave up five singles and issued one free pass while punching out six in the stellar effort. His teammates handed him a big early lead and in return he kept the Indians from mounting any sort of challenge. Griffin is now 6-3 with a 4.39 ERA in his first season with the Rangers. • Cespedes slugs three-run homer in victory
Yoenis Cespedes slugged a three-run homer, drew two walks, and scored two runs in Saturday’s blowout win over the Phillies.

Advice: The Mets were nursing a one-run lead before Cespedes took Jeremy Hellickson deep with a long blast that just stayed fair along the left field line. He’s hitting .355 with four homers, two doubles, and eight RBI in eight games since coming off the disabled list. The Mets’ lineup looks much more potent when he’s feeling good. • Gary Sanchez continues epic home run assault
Gary Sanchez continued his historic home run barrage on Saturday, blasting a solo homer off Dylan Bundy in the fourth inning of a 13-5 win over the Orioles.

Advice: With that long ball, Sanchez is now the fastest player in MLB history to reach 11 home runs, accomplishing the feat in only 23 games. He has now hit 10 homers in his last 12 contests and is showing no signs of slowing down. Fantasy owners who scooped him up off of the waiver wire early on are reaping tremendous rewards that could decide the championship in many season-long leagues. He finished the day 1-for-3 plus a pair of walks on Saturday and is now hitting .400/.467/.900 with 11 bombs and 21 RBI on the season. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 1:40 pm
  • Giants recall Albert Suarez to start Saturday
Giants recalled RHP Albert Suarez from Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: The 26-year-old hurler has appeared in 16 games for the Giants this season (six starts), compiling a 4.20 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 40/17 K/BB ratio. He could be worth a look as a streaming option against the Braves on Saturday. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 12:11 pm
  • Sanchez homers again, knocks in four vs. O's
Gary Sanchez continued to tear the cover off the ball in Friday’s 14-4 win over the Orioles, going 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and three runs scored.

Advice: At this point, it would be more weird if he didn’t homer. Sanchez doubled in a pair of runs in the second inning before slugging a two-run homer in the fifth. He now has 10 homers and 20 RBI in 19 games since his call-up earlier this month. He’s just the third player in MLB history to reach 10 homers through his first 22 career games. It’s unfair to expect this sort of production to continue at this ridiculous pace, but fantasy owners are enjoying the ride. Rotoworld.com Friday, 7:20 pm
  • Eaton scores three times in win over Mariners
Adam Eaton went 2-for-4 with three runs scored in Thursday's win over the Mariners.

Advice: Eaton had a pair of singles and a walk in the game, coming around to score all three times. He's now hit in eight straight to run his season line up to .278/.358/.417. The 27-year-old has 11 homers and 12 steals while hitting atop the White Sox lineup. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 9:32 pm

Jefry Marte (personal) will join the Angels Friday in Detroit.

Advice: Marte missed the club's series against the Blue Jays while tending to a personal matter. The 25-year-old has been a jack of all trades this season, splitting time between left field and both corner infield spots. He's hit a little bit too with nine homers and 27 RBI over 176 at-bats for the Halos. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 3:05 pm

Rays recalled RHP Tyler Strudevant from Triple-A Durham.

Advice: Strudevant pitched to a 4.08 ERA and 12/6 K/BB ratio in 17 2/3 innings previous innings with the Rays this season. Prior to the call-up, He had been toiling away in Durham since the middle of July. There is no fantasy intrigue here. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 8:42 pm

  • Dyson tosses perfect inning for 28th save
Sam Dyson tossed a spotless ninth inning to protect a one-run lead and earn his 28th save of the season on Wednesday.

Advice: He induced three consecutive ground-outs and got through the inning on only eight pitches. He is not a big strikeout guy but he has been effective at keeping the ball on the ground this year. He has a 2.83 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 57 1/3 innings. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 7:47 pm
  • Gary Sanchez sizzles with yet another homer
Gary Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-0 win over the Mariners.

Advice: Sanchez continues to simply destroy things, this time cracking a solo home run off Hisashi Iwakuma in the first inning. In just 72 at-bats, he has already launched nine long-balls. The 23-year-old backstop is slashing a stupendous .389/.450/.847 in that space. He was batting third on Wednesday and even if he cools off -- which will happen eventually, allegedly -- he should remain a fantasy difference-maker down the stretch. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 6:02 pm
  • Cespedes says he does not plan to opt out
Yoenis Cespedes reiterated Tuesday that he does not plan to exercise his opt-out this winter.

Advice: We'll believe that when it becomes official. Cespedes is batting .295/.365/.570 with 25 home runs and 64 RBI in 98 games this year -- the first year of a three-year, $75 million deal with the Mets that includes an opt-out clause leading into 2017. His current .936 OPS would be the highest of his career by a pretty wide margin. The 30-year-old outfielder stands to cash in this winter in a weak free agent market and we expect him to do just that. He could still return to the Mets, but with a bigger contract guarantee. • Matt Kemp drives in three as Braves rally
Matt Kemp went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Tuesday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Kemp almost single-handedly rallied the Braves back from a 4-2 deficit. He started the comeback with a sacrifice fly in the fourth to cut the advantage to 4-3, then flipped the score completely with his two-run double with two outs in the top of the eighth inning. The veteran outfielder has picked up hits in nine of his last 10 games and is slashing .263/.296/.480 with 25 homers and 81 RBI. He has rocked at least 23 home runs in each of the last three seasons. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 10:49 pm
  • Arenado hits three-run jack against Brewers
Nolan Arenado hit a three-run home run in Tuesday's loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Arenado leads the National League with 33 home runs and 107 RBI, and he's second in the league with 91 runs scored. There's just not a lot else to say about the 25-year-old superstar besides he's one of the best in the game in almost every facet. Offensively, which is what matters in our game, Arenado is hitting .286/.357/.564 through 124 games. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 9:30 pm
  • Tyler Skaggs struggles again Tuesday
Tyler Skaggs' struggles continued Tuesday, as he was chased after allowing four runs over four frames against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Skaggs really had issues with his control, walking five while allowing four hits and striking out just two. The left-hander tossed 12 1/3 scoreless innings in his first two starts back from the minors but has since given up 19 runs over his last four outings. He can't be trusted in fantasy leagues this weekend in Detroit. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 7:25 pm
  • Jon Lester earns 14th victory
Jon Lester held the Padres to one run in six innings and struck out eight in winning Monday.

Advice: Lester moved to 14-4. The Cubs have won each of his last seven starts, with Lester picking up five wins in the span. Next up for him are the Dodgers in Los Angeles this weekend. Rotoworld.com Monday, 10:48 pm
  • Gary Sanchez homers twice against Seattle
Gary Sanchez launched his seventh and eighth homers Monday against the Mariners.

Advice: Sanchez also singled. It wasn't clear just how much he'd play when the Yankees gave him the call on August 3, but he's a fixture now and that might not change for several years to come. Rotoworld.com Monday, 10:32 pm
  • Yoenis Cespedes homers again to lead Mets
Yoenis Cespedes played the role of offensive hero again on Sunday, clobbering a two-run homer to lead the Mets in a 2-0 victory over the Giants.

Advice: The Mets had been held without a hit through the first six innings of the ballgame until Curtis Granderson led off the seventh with a double. Cespedes then wasted no time, blasting a Jeff Samardzija offering over the wall in left field. He has provided a huge spark since returning from the disabled list, blasting a pair of home runs on Saturday before Sunday's heroics. With his 1-for-4 effort Sunday, Cespedes is now hitting .293/.363/.571 with 25 homers and 64 RBI on the season. Rotoworld.com Aug 21, 7:39 pm

  • Arenado goes 4-for-5 with two homers, six RBI
Nolan Arenado finished 4-for-5 with six RBI in the Rockies' 11-4 rout of the Cubs on Sunday.

Advice: Arenado opened the game's scoring with a three-run shot in the bottom of the first inning before adding another three-run blast in the bottom of the fourth. He also singled twice. The 25-year-old third baseman is up to 104 RBI for the year, which leads all of MLB, and only Mark Trumbo and Edwin Encarnacion have more homers. Rotoworld.com Aug 21, 4:26 pm
  • Sanchez drills solo home run on Saturday
Gary Sanchez continued his assault on major league pitching, drilling a solo home run versus the Angels on Saturday.

Advice: The rookie now has 6 home runs in 58 at-bats since being called up three weeks ago. He is batting an eye-popping .379/.419/.776 in 15 games. He is bound to cool off sometime soon but has a legitimate shot at being one of the better fantasy catchers for the next few years. Rotoworld.com Aug 20, 10:44 pm
  • Griffin gives up three runs in loss to Rays
A.J. Griffin allowed three runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings in Saturday's loss to the Rays.

Advice: Griffin struck out four without walking a batter, but two home runs -- both solo shots -- did enough damage to saddle him with his third loss. He's posted a 4.68 ERA and 1.32 WHIP through 17 starts, sitting at 5-3 overall. Griffin will try to get back in the win column Friday against the Indians. Rotoworld.com Aug 20, 6:46 pm
  • Cespedes homers twice in win over Giants
Yoenis Cespedes ripped two homers in Saturday's win over the Giants.

Advice: He also doubled and came within feet of a third home run on a deep flyout to left field. Cespedes was hampered by a quad injury earlier this month but obviously that's no longer an issue. The 30-year-old now sports an impressive .293 average with 24 HR and 62 RBI through 341 at-bats this year. For the Mets to have any chance of going back to the playoffs, Cespedes will have to carry the team on his back. Rotoworld.com Aug 20, 5:19 pm

  • Tyler Skaggs lifted in fourth, takes loss
Tyler Skaggs lost to the Mariners after allowing four runs in 3 1/3 innings Wednesday.

Advice: Skaggs pitched 12 1/3 scoreless innings in his first two starts back in the majors last month. In his three starts this month, he's given up 15 earned runs in 13 2/3 innings. There's still a lot to like about his future, but there isn't much reason to think he'll finish strong in his first year back from Tommy John surgery. Rotoworld.com Aug 17, 10:59 pm
  • Eaton smacks go-ahead grand slam in ninth
Adam Eaton drilled a clutch ninth-inning grand slam to give the White Sox a come-from-behind 10-7 victory over the Indians on Wednesday.

Advice: He came to the plate with the bases full against Indians closer Cody Allen and smoked a hanging curveball over the right field fence. Eaton finished the game 2-for-5 and is batting .276/.358/.418 with 11 home runs, 45 RBI, 59 runs and 12 stolen bases. He contributes well in all five fantasy categories but doesn't stand out in any of them. That sort of player often goes under-appreciated and can be a bargain on draft day.
