    • Throws complete game for first win
Steele (1-3) earned the win against the Angels on Friday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over nine innings.

Advice: Steele needed just 95 pitches to toss his first career complete game. The only blemish was an RBI single by Taylor Ward in the fifth, but the lefty responded by retiring 13 consecutive batters to seal his much overdue first win of the year. The 29-year-old has logged six straight quality starts and owns a 2.95 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 77:18 K:BB over 79.1 innings this season. He lines up for a road matchup with the Orioles next week. • To IL with shoulder soreness
The Rangers placed Dunning on the 15-day injured list Friday with right shoulder soreness, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: This is the second shoulder-related IL stint for Dunning, who also missed a couple weeks of action in May. It's not clear at this point how long he might be sidelined this time around. Dunning was demoted to the Rangers' bullpen late last month to accommodate Max Scherzer's return. Rotowire.com Today, 1:46 pm

    • Diagnosed with Grade 2 lat strain
Jones will be shut down for two weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 right lat strain, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Jones will be re-evaluated after those two weeks before the next steps of his rehab are determined. The rookie right-hander suffered the injury during his last start Wednesday against the Cardinals and was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday. Given the ramp-up that will be required after the shutdown period, it seems safe to rule Jones out for at least the remainder of July. Rotowire.com Today, 12:56 pm

    • Sent down to minors
The Rays optioned Sterner to Triple-A Durham on Friday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: Sterner was up as bullpen protection for a couple days but didn't make an appearance. Shane Baz -- who will start Friday's game against the Rangers -- will fill Sterner's roster spot. Rotowire.com Today, 10:01 am
    • Officially recalled for start
The Rays recalled Baz from Triple-A Durham on Friday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: He will start Friday in Texas against the Rangers, taking the rotation spot vacated by Aaron Civale, who was traded to the Brewers earlier this week. Baz will be making his first major-league start since July 2022, as he missed the entire 2023 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. The young right-hander had been heating up at Durham in June, collecting a 1.57 ERA and 35:10 K:BB across 23 innings. Baz will have a good shot to remain in the Rays rotation for the rest of the season and needs to be picked up in most fantasy leagues where he's still available. Rotowire.com Today, 9:59 am

    • Chris Paddack (arm) could rejoin Twins Monday
RHP Chris Paddack (arm) could be back with the Twins as early as Monday.

Advice: Paddack was placed on the 15-day injured list with arm fatigue retroactive to June 22nd. His time on the IL will be up on Sunday. The Twins sent down David Festa and replaced him with a bullpen arm, which could be a sign that Paddack is ready to rejoin the Twins rotation as early as Monday. Paddack is 5-3 with a 5.29 ERA in 15 starts with Minnesota this year. Rotoworld Today, 9:58 am

    • Completes rehab, role still TBD
Hall (knee) made what is expected to be his final rehab start for Triple-A Nashville on Thursday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: In his sixth and likely final appearance with Nashville since resuming a rehab assignment in mid-June, Hall worked three innings -- matching his total from his previous outing -- and allowed three unearned runs on three hits and three walks. While Hall still has a chance to make it as a starting pitcher, his usage on the farm suggests he won't work as a traditional starter upon his return this season. If he slots into a bulk-relief role, the lefty would have more fantasy appeal than he would if he were to be deployed as an opening pitcher in front of a bulk reliever. Rotowire.com Today, 6:28 am

    • Yimi García starting rehab assignment on Saturday
Yimi García (elbow) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Saturday with Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: García got through a bullpen session on Wednesday without any issues and will get in a handful of rehab outings before turning to Toronto’s closing mix. The 33-year-old, who has been out since mid-June with an elbow injury, figures to split the closing duties with fellow veteran Chad Green once he’s back, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see him completely take over the role. • Dodgers recall reliever Nick Ramirez on Thursday
Dodgers recalled LHP Nick Ramirez from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: Ramirez returns to the Dodgers’ bullpen mix ahead of Thursday’s game against the Diamondbacks after spending the last few weeks in the minors. The 34-year-old southpaw has made six relief appearances this season in his Los Angeles debut. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:16 pm
