    • Hit with first loss
Miller (1-1) took the loss Wednesday, giving up a solo home run in a third of an inning as the A's fell 5-4 to the Padres.

Advice: Jackson Merrill drove the first pitch he saw from Miller down the right-field line in the bottom of the ninth inning for a walk-off homer. The Oakland closer may be wearing down -- over his last eight appearances he's served up three long balls and been scored upon four times, leading to a 5.59 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB through 9.2 innings during that stretch. • Struggles early in no-decision
Pivetta did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Phillies, allowing four runs on six hits and four walks with four strikeouts over four innings.

Advice: It was a rough night from the start, as Pivetta allowed the first three batters he faced to reach base and surrendered two runs in each of the first and third innings. The four walks were a season high, and he allowed at least one baserunner in every inning. Pivetta has been inconsistent this season, with six starts of two or fewer earned runs and three starts yielding five. On the season, Pivetta owns a 3.88 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 55:13 K:BB in nine starts and lines up against the Blue Jays next Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:59 pm

    • Nick Pivetta yanked after four versus former team
Nick Pivetta surrendered four runs in four innings Wednesday in a no-decision versus the Phillies.

Advice: Pivetta walked four tonight. He’s issued 11 free passes in his last four starts after totaling two in his first five. Pivetta also struck out four tonight. Oddly enough, his nine starts this season have seen him strike out at least eight on five occasions and no more than four the rest of the time. He’s 3-4 with a 3.88 ERA. • MRI comes back clean for Jurickson Profar (knee)
Jurickson Profar (knee) underwent a precautionary MRI exam on his injured knee on Wednesday that came back clean for any structural damage.

Advice: Padres’ fans and fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief, as one of the biggest surprises of the first half of the season won’t miss substantial time. He’s still considered day-to-day and should return to the Padres’ lineup at some point over the weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:00 pm
    • Jazz Chisholm Jr. has two hits in loss to Mets
Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 2-for-4 and drove in a run on Wednesday night as the Marlins fell to the Mets at Citi Field.

Advice: The dynamic 26-year-old smacked a run-scoring single off of David Peterson in the fifth inning that pulled the Marlins to within a run at 5-4. That would wind up being the extent of their scoring in the contest. With his two-hit effort, Chisholm is now hitting .250/.318/.425 to go along with nine homers, 32 RBI and 12 stolen bases. • Hits go-ahead homer in win
Bellinger went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in a 4-3 win over Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

Advice: With the Cubs trailing 2-1 with two outs in the seventh inning, Bellinger changed the game with a three-run home run off Tampa Bay reliever Garrett Cleavinger then added a single in the ninth. While the homer was his first in June, Bellinger now has four straight multi-hit efforts for a total of five in 10 contests this month. On the season, Bellinger is slashing .267/.324/.456 with nine home runs and 32 RBI in 238 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:41 pm

    • Cody Bellinger powers Cubs past Rays
Cody Bellinger went 2-for-5 and hit a three-run homer in the seventh to lead the Cubs to a 4-3 victory over the Rays on Wednesday.

Advice: The homer came off Garrett Cleavinger, a lefty who hadn’t previously allowed one in 27 innings this season. It was Bellinger’s ninth in 54 games. He’s not doing anything quite as well as he did last year, but that was probably to be expected. He’s still been a fine regular for the Cubs, and he might offer more to fantasy leaguers if he gets back to stealing more bases; he has three right now after finishing with 20 last year. • Steven Kwan collects two hits in loss Wednesday
Steven Kwan went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles and a run scored on Wednesday as the Guardians fell to the Reds in Cincinnati.

Advice: Kwan got things started with a one-out single off of Nick Lodolo in the third inning, then came around to score the game’s tying run as David Fry worked a two-out walk with the bases loaded. The 26-year-old outfielder also looked like he had an RBI single in the fourth inning, but Brayan Rocchio was cut down at the plate. On the season, Kwan is now slashing a ridiculous .380/.445/.534 with four homers, 16 RBI and three stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:07 pm
    • Mason Miller serves up walk-off homer to Padres
Mason Miller allowed one run in the ninth inning on Wednesday and was saddled with a loss against the Padres.

Advice: Miller was called upon in a tie ballgame and wound up surrendering a walk-off solo shot to Padres rookie Jackson Merrill. It was just his first loss of the year and second run he’s allowed in four relief appearances this month. The flame-throwing 25-year-old righty has been one of the best high-leverage relievers in baseball and this looks like just a momentary hiccup in an otherwise stellar breakthrough campaign.
