    • Justin Steele throws complete game for first win
Justin Steele went the distance for his first win of 2024, pitching a two-hitting in a 5-1 game against the Angels.

Advice: The Cubs didn’t need to turn to their shaky pen this time out, as Steele finished off the Angels in just 95 pitches. He struck out seven and walked two for his first win in 13 starts this season and 18 outings dating back to last year, when he opened up 16-3 before going 0-2 in his final four turns and perhaps costing himself a Cy Young Award. Of course, it was hardly his fault that he was 0-3 this year coming into this one. His ERA stands at 2.95 after this one. Rotoworld Today, 2:32 pm

    • Throws complete game for first win
Steele (1-3) earned the win against the Angels on Friday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over nine innings.

Advice: Steele needed just 95 pitches to toss his first career complete game. The only blemish was an RBI single by Taylor Ward in the fifth, but the lefty responded by retiring 13 consecutive batters to seal his much overdue first win of the year. The 29-year-old has logged six straight quality starts and owns a 2.95 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 77:18 K:BB over 79.1 innings this season. He lines up for a road matchup with the Orioles next week. • Swats 12th homer Thursday
Profar went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run in Thursday's 3-1 win against Texas.

Advice: Profar powered the Padres to a 2-0 lead with his his solo blast to right field in the sixth inning. The recently anointed All-Star continues to be productive, gathering at least one hit in 15 of his past 16 contests and slashing .295/.348/.443 with two homers, 11 RBI, 11 runs and a stolen base over that span. Profar ranks third among qualified hitters with a .317 batting average on the season. Rotowire.com Today, 11:29 am
    • On base three times Thursday
Chisholm went 1-for-4 with two walks, an RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's extra-innings loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: He was also caught stealing, giving the center fielder 15 steals in 23 attempts on the season. Chisholm had drawn just one free pass over his prior 13 games, so his display of patience was unexpected and not likely to be repeated any time soon. On the year, 26-year-old is slashing .259/.326/.416 through 84 contests with 10 homers, 37 runs and 40 RBI, and most importantly Chisholm has stayed healthy after missing 167 games across the last two seasons. • Let down by 'pen in dominant outing
Pivetta struck out 10 batters while allowing one hit and two walks over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision against Miami on Thursday.

Advice: Pivetta was downright dominant Thursday, racking up 15 swinging strikes en route to his second double-digit punchout performance of the campaign. He held the Marlins hitless until Jesus Sanchez tripled against him in the seventh inning, and the right-hander departed in line for a victory with a 2-0 lead. However, Boston's bullpen eliminated Pivetta's chance for the win by giving up two runs in the bottom of the eighth. Nonetheless, the performance was an excellent bounce-back for Pivetta after he had posted a 6.98 ERA and 1.81 WHIP across his previous four starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:28 pm

    • Trio of hits, homer
Kwan went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI walk during Thursday's 8-4 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Kwan reached base four times Thursday and tagged Jared Shuster for a homer in the second inning. The outing was Kwan's first three-hit game since June 16 and his 12th of the season. MLB's leader in batting average, Kwan is slashing .367/.424/.538 with 50 runs across 265 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:12 pm

    • Takes fifth loss
Morton (5-5) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings to take the loss versus the Giants on Thursday.

Advice: Morton continues to alternate between good and bad starts, with this one not being particularly sharp. He threw 54 of 94 pitches for strikes and served up home runs to Heliot Ramos and Matt Chapman in the fourth inning. This was the first time all year Morton has been taken deep multiple times in a start. He's been generally effective with a 3.96 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 92:38 K:BB over 91 innings across 16 starts. The veteran right-hander is projected to make his next start at Arizona. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:58 pm
    • Morton allows three earned runs in loss Thursday
Charlie Morton allowed four runs (three earned) in 5 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Giants on Thursday.

Advice: Morton gave up five hits, walked two and struck out five. He had won two of his last three starts. Morton gave up a two-run home run to Heliot Ramos and a solo home run to Matt Chapman in the third inning. In the sixth inning, Chapman got him again for an RBI double. Morton has a 3.96 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 91 innings this season. The 40-year-old right-hander is set to face the Diamondbacks on the road next week.

    • Impresses in loss
Henderson went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and a double in Thursday's 7-3 loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Henderson opened the scoring with his third-inning blast, which was his first homer in seven games. The shortstop remains excellent atop the Orioles' order, having gone 15-for-41 (.366) over his last 10 contests. On the year, he's up to 27 homers, 60 RBI, 75 runs scored, 13 stolen bases and a .289/.382/.605 slash line through 86 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:04 pm
