    • Shohei Ohtani drives in three against Rockies
Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI against the Rockies on Wednesday.

Advice: Ohtani stepped to the plate with the bases loaded in the second inning and cleared the bases with a double to tie the game. He later knocked a base hit for his second hit of the game. The 29-year-old star is slashing .317/.388/.608 with 20 homers, 58 runs scored, 52 RBI, and 16 steals across 332 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:23 pm

    • Kyle Bradish undergoes Tommy John surgery
The Orioles announced on Wednesday that Kyle Bradish underwent successful Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery with an internal brace procedure on Wednesday in Dallas.

Advice: The 27-year-old right-hander will obviously miss the remainder of the 2024 season and will miss at least the first half of the 2025 campaign as well while recovering from the surgery. Fantasy managers in season-long leagues can safely cut bait now. He finishes the 2024 season with a 2.75 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 53/15 K/BB ratio over 39 1/3 innings in his eight starts. • Undergoes Tommy John surgery
Orioles general manager Mike Elias announced that Bradish (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery with an internal brace Wednesday, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Advice: Bradish was first diagnosed with a partial UCL tear in his elbow in mid-February, and while his initial rehab was successful -- he posted a 2.75 ERA and 53:15 K:BB over 39.1 innings covering eight starts -- he suffered a setback coming out of his most recent outing last Friday. After having his elbow re-examined, Bradish made the decision to have the surgery. Elias said Wednesday that he expects Bradish to miss 12-to-18 months, leaving the right-hander's availability for the entire 2025 season in doubt. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:06 pm

    • Heading to bench Wednesday
Jeffers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Advice: With solid counting statistics (12 home runs, two stolen bases, 37 RBI and 28 runs) and a non-toxic batting average (.234), Jeffers has been one of the top fantasy catchers this season, but he's started to lose some of his shine in recent weeks. He's slashing just .153/.240/.259 overall since May 15, and his ongoing struggles at the dish have begun to cost him some playing time. He'll give way Wednesday to Christian Vazquez, who remains the Twins' No. 2 catcher but seems to have moved his way into more of a timeshare with Jeffers behind the dish. • Absent from lineup again
Martinez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Red Sox.

Advice: Martinez didn't play Tuesday in his first game after receiving a promotion and he will begin Wednesday's tilt on the bench, as well. It's not a good sign for the youngster's playing time outlook during his first stint in the big leagues. The Blue Jays have Spencer Horwitz at second base, Addison Barger at third base and Isiah Kiner-Falefa at shortstop Wednesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:09 pm

    • Trea Turner gets scheduled rest versus Padres
The Phillies said Trea Turner is getting a planned day off Wednesday after starting his first two games back from the IL.

Advice: That’s as expected, but the confirmation is nice. Edmundo Sosa is playing shortstop for the Phillies today. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:46 am
    • Getting rest Wednesday
Turner is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Turner's absence for Wednesday's day game is likely part of a predetermined maintenance plan for the veteran shortstop, who returned from a six-week stay on the 10-day injured list Monday. The 30-year-old exhibited no apparent signs of being nagged by his left hamstring while starting Monday and Tuesday and going 3-for-10 with a run scored between those contests. Edmundo Sosa will spell Turner at shortstop in the series finale versus San Diego. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:45 am
    • Trea Turner takes seat Wednesday
After starting at shortstop in his first two games back from the IL, Trea Turner is out of the lineup for Wednesday’s matinee.

Advice: No official word yet, but this is probably a planned day off for Turner after he returned from his hamstring strain without a rehab assignment. He went 4-for-7 the last two days. Edmundo Sosa is playing shortstop today. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:29 am
    • Homers again Tuesday
Schwarber went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-3 win over San Diego.

Advice: Schwarber cut the Phillies' lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning, launching a solo shot off Wandy Peralta. It's Schwarber's 17th homer this season and his third in his last two games. He's boosted his slash line to .257/.377/.468 with 48 RBI, 53 runs scored and four steals across 329 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:25 am
