    • Evan Carter goes 0-for-4, fans three times
Evan Carter struck out three times as part of an 0-for-4 night against the Mariners on Tuesday.

Advice: Carter just isn’t hitting the ball as hard right now as he did in his debut last September. He’s at .200/.307//387 in 88 plate appearances, and Statcast thinks his slugging percentage should be lower, what with his 32% hard-hit rate. He still seems like a sure bet as a useful mixed-league outfielder, but his fantasy upside is in question. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:15 pm

    • Foley locks down seventh save in win over TB
Jason Foley fired a scoreless ninth to preserve the Tigers’ 4-2 win over the Rays.

Advice: The save was Foley’s seventh on the season, and the right-hander has been one of the early surprises of 2024, riding increased velocity on his nasty sinker to 11 scoreless innings. Yes, Foley now was 11 innings without allowing an earned run to go along with 11 strikeouts and seven walks. He clearly won’t remain as fortunate when it comes to his ERA, but he should remain the Tigers’ closer with his new arsenal. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:04 pm
    • J.D. Martinez kicks off rehab assignment Tuesday
J.D. Martinez (back) went 1-for-4 with an RBI on Tuesday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Martinez finally kicked off his rehab assignment after missing a couple weeks recovering from lower back tightness that wound up requiring a cortisone injection earlier this month to address. The 36-year-old veteran slugger will presumably need a handful of additional rehab games to get back up to speed before making his Mets debut. Barring any setbacks, there’s a chance he’s back before the end of April. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:56 pm
    • Ian Happ returns to lineup Tuesday vs. Astros
Ian Happ (hamstring) has returned to the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Astros.

Advice: Happ is back in left field and batting second on Tuesday following a three-game absence due to left hamstring tightness. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:17 pm

    • Back in action Tuesday
Happ (hamstring) is starting in left field and batting second Tuesday against the Astros, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: The 29-year-old sat out Saturday and Sunday with hamstring soreness after exiting Friday's contest, but he's ready to retake the field following Monday's team off day. Happ has been in a slump over his past nine games, going 4-for-35 after he posted a .933 OPS in his first 40 at-bats of the campaign. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:16 pm

    • Jonathan India (illness) remains out of lineup
Jonathan India (illness) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Phillies.

Advice: India will sit out his third straight contest due to illness. It’ll be Santiago Espinal drawing another start at the keystone in his ongoing absence. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:44 pm

    • Held out again Tuesday
India (illness) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Phillies.

Advice: India has now been out of the lineup for three straight games as he battles a nasty illness. He remains day-to-day. Santiago Espinal will occupy second base again, and it will be Stuart Fairchild in the leadoff spot. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:53 am

    • Lifts second homer
Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 5-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Goldschmidt's slow start has been the cause of much consternation for St. Louis, and it's led to him batting fifth in the last two games. He's gone 3-for-7 since the drop in the order, so it looks like the change is at least having a short-term effect. The first baseman is batting a meager .195 with a .566 OPS, two homers, nine RBI and eight runs scored over 94 plate appearances. Goldschmidt's track record will give him a lot of leeway to work out of his struggles, but it's possible that the 36-year-old may be starting to feel his age as well. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:07 am
    • Collects three hits
Cruz went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI on Monday against the Brewers.

Advice: Cruz hit eighth in the order for the third straight game against a right-handed pitcher as the Pirates seek to get him on track at the plate. He showed some reasons for optimism with his three-hit performance, highlighted by a two-RBI single in the sixth inning that gave the team some insurance runs. Most importantly, Cruz struck out only once after punching out multiple times in seven of his previous 10 games. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:07 pm
