Brandon Pfaadt logged a quality start in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Cubs, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits over seven strong innings of work.
Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander piled up six strikeouts on the afternoon and didn’t issue a base on balls. He kept the Cubs off the board until the fifth inning, where Mike Tauchman delivered an RBI double after Nico Hoerner had reached on an error, then Yan Gomes followed with a run-scoring single. He also served up a solo homer to Cody Bellinger in the sixth inning. Pfaadt got eight swings and misses on 94 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 30 percent. Now 1-1 on the season, he’ll bring a 5.32 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 23/3 K/BB ratio (23 2/3 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the Cardinals in St. Louis.
