  • Pirates picks up J.A. Happ from Mariners
Pirates acquired LHP J.A. Happ from the Mariners in exchange for RHP Adrian Sampson.

Advice: Happ holds a 4.64 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 108 2/3 innings this season. Despite those underwhelming numbers, you have to figure he'll enter the club's rotation. Jeff Locke is probably the most vulnerable to lose his rotation spot. Rotoworld.com 44 minutes ago
  • Royals move Chris Young to bullpen
Chris Young has been moved to the Royals' bullpen.

Advice: Manager Ned Yost has chosen to stick with Jeremy Guthrie in the rotation even though he's been greatly outperformed by Young. Guthrie isn't guaranteed anything beyond his next start, though, so things could still change. Rotoworld.com 51 minutes ago
  • Slade Heathcott activated, then optioned
Yankees activated OF Slade Heathcott from the 60-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Advice: Heathcott is over his quad injury but is now back in the minors as depth. He's hit .353/.353/.588 in six games for the Yankees this season. Rotoworld.com Today, 11:24 am

  • Orioles acquire Gerardo Parra from Brewers
Orioles acquired OF Gerardo Parra from the Brewers for RHP Zach Davies.

Advice: Two months later, the Orioles have replaced Alejandro De Aza with another Alejandro De Aza, but one who happens to be in the midst of a career season. Or, at least, a career three months so far. Parra was hitting .328/.369/.517 for Milwaukee, a huge improvement over his .265/.316/.387 lines from the previous two seasons. He's never played in the AL before, so he's facing a transition, and most likely, he'll begin to revert to something closer to his career numbers. That still probably makes him the Orioles' best option in left field against right-handers. He's just not really likely to be a difference maker. Rotoworld.com Today, 9:55 am
  • Anthony Rizzo goes 3-for-4, hits big homer
Anthony Rizzo went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and a double as the Cubs beat the Brewers 5-2 on Thursday.

Advice: The Brewers were up 2-0 when Rizzo delivered his big blow in the eighth. The Cubs then added two runs in the ninth as insurance. Rizzo has homered in back-to-back games, so maybe his lengthy slump is coming to an end. He had just one homer in five weeks prior to yesterday. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 10:28 pm
