Player Notes

  • Fans seven in loss
Anderson (2-3) took the loss against the Orioles on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over five frames. He struck out seven.

Advice: Anderson struggled with his command in the loss, hitting Gunnar Henderson with a pitch to open the game before going on to issue a season-high four walks over his five innings of work. However, he also managed to post a season-high seven strikeouts while inducing 14 swings and misses on the afternoon. Despite taking his third loss of the season, Anderson has actually been a solid arm for the Angels early in the campaign and is yet to allow more than three runs in a start. He's also gone at least seven innings in three of his five outings and still carries a shiny 1.78 ERA heading into his next start. Rotowire.com 53 minutes ago
  • Logs three-hit night in win
Langford went 3-for-3 with a walk, double and run scored in Wednesday's 5-1 win over Seattle.

Advice: The three-hit performance was the first of the season for Langford. The double was just his fourth extra-base hit over 88 at-bats (.318 slugging, .057 ISO), but the rookie outfielder is getting on base with consistency (.340 OBP, 10.2% walk rate). He's reached base safely in 19 of 23 games and is hitting .261 with a .658 OPS to open his MLB career. Rotowire.com 53 minutes ago
  • Paul Skenes dominates again Wednesday at Triple-A
Pirates RHP prospect Paul Skenes struck out seven and was charged with two runs (one earned) over 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday for Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: Skenes finally gave up an earned run, which sent his ERA soaring to an astronomical 0.53 in the process. The 21-year-old top pitching prospect built up his workload to 71 pitches (50 strikes) and continues to flash triple-digit velocity with ease. It’s difficult to understand Pittsburgh’s rationale at this juncture behind having him continue building volume in the minor leagues instead of contributing in the major leagues. Regardless of when the Pirates finally decide to call him up, Skenes appears poised to make a significant impact for fantasy managers and should be rostered in all formats. Rotoworld 59 minutes ago
  • Fans 10, matches career high
Kremer (1-2) earned the win Wednesday over the Angels, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk over 5.1 innings while striking out 10.

Advice: Kremer shut out the Angels over the first five innings before surrendering a solo homer to Mike Trout in the sixth, followed by a single to Nolan Schanuel, which would lead to the right-hander being relieved by Jacob Webb. Kremer dominated Los Angeles' lineup with his four-seamer throughout the day while matching his career high with 10 strikeouts. He's now allowed three or fewer hits in three of his five starts to open the season, though he's also given up at least one home run in all but one of those outings. Rotowire.com Today, 5:21 am
  • Tosses 52 pitches on rehab
Scherzer (back) allowed three runs on five hits while striking out four over 2.1 innings in a rehab appearance for Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

Advice: Scherzer kicked off a rehab assignment Wednesday, giving up a pair of home runs while running his pitch count to 52, including 11 swinging strikes. That's in line with his progression after throwing 40 in his most recent live batting practice session. Scherzer's velocity was down across the board, per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com, but that is to be expected from the right-hander, who is working his way back from offseason back surgery.
