  • Giants place Blake Snell (adductor) on 15-day IL
    Giants placed Blake Snell on the 15-day injured list with a left adductor strain.

    Advice: Brutal. The reigning NL Cy Young will be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks after being one of the big names in the free agent market this offseason. In his three starts with the Giants, Snell is 0-3 with a 11.57 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and a 12/5 K/BB ratio. The 31-year-old southpaw hasn’t always had his best stuff at the beginning of the season, but hitting the injured list after he signed a two-year, $62 million contract is disaster for a Giants team that came into the season riddled with injuries to their pitching staff.     Walker will serve as the Giants' opening pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Mets, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

    Advice: The Giants will opt for an impromptu bullpen day in the series finale with the Mets after Blake Snell (adductor) was scratched from his scheduled start and placed on the 15-day injured list.     The Giants recalled Roupp from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

    Advice: Roupp was optioned to Triple-A on Tuesday, but he'll be back with the Giants one day later after Blake Snell (adductor) was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Snell had been slated to start Wednesday's game against the Mets, and though Ryan Walker is now set to serve as the Giants' opening pitcher, Roupp is likely to be part of the Giants' pitching plan either as a multi-inning reliever.     Stratton (2-1) did not allow a baserunner and struck out one batter over 1.2 innings to earn the win Wednesday versus the Blue Jays.

    Advice: Stratton allowed an inherited runner to score on a sacrifice fly after relieving starter Michael Wacha in the fifth inning. The Royals rallied ahead in the bottom of the fifth and Stratton delivered a perfect sixth en route to the win. He hasn't been charged with a run over his last five innings and now has a 3.27 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 8:9 K:BB over 11 innings on the year. Stratton's history as a starter makes him an option for multi-inning assignments. He can also work in the late innings, though James McArthur (five) has the advantage for save chances so far, while Stratton and Will Smith (one each) are the only other Royals to pick up a save this season.     Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Washington.

    Advice: Ohtani capped the scoring in the contest with a 450-foot solo blast to right-center field. Per MLB.com, the homer was hit at 118.7 mph, making it the hardest-hit ball in the majors so far this season.
