    • Padres have considered trading for Sardinas
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Padres have discussed trading for Brewers shortstop Luis Sardinas.

Advice: The Brewers picked up Sardinas as he key piece of the Yovani Gallardo trade from the Rangers in mid-January. Rosenthal notes that there have been no recent discussions between the two clubs though. The Brewers organization appears to be very high on the young infielder, so flipping him elsewhere seems very unlikely. Rotoworld.com

    • Quintanilla inks minors deal with Rockies
Rockies signed INF Omar Quintanilla to a minor league contract.

Advice: He'll presumably be invited to big league camp in spring training. Quintanilla batted a hideous .221/.302/.279 the last two years with the Mets but does offer a versatile glove. Rotoworld.com

    • Elian Herrera designated for assignment
Brewers designated INF/OF Elian Herrera for assignment.

Advice: The move clears space on the 40-man roster for the addition of Neal Cotts. Herrera batted .274/.288/.341 over 140 plate appearances for the Brew Crew last season while making appearances at six different positions. The 30-year-old can't really hit, but he could draw some interest on waivers due to his versatility. Rotoworld.com

    • MRI on Profar's shoulder shows progress
An MRI taken this week on Jurickson Profar's right shoulder showed significant healing.

Advice: Profar will stretch his throwing out to 75 feet next week and he has also been cleared to introduce dry swings into his workout plan. The 21-year-old infielder should be close to 100 percent for the beginning of the 2015 season, but he's probably going to be ticketed for Triple-A after sitting out all of 2014. Rotoworld.com

    • Blue Jays ink Ramon Santiago to minors deal
Blue Jays signed INF Ramon Santiago to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Advice: He'll make $1.1 million if he cracks the Opening Day roster. Santiago is 35 years old and a weak .243/.314/.330 career hitter at the major league level, though he provides a solid glove at multiple positions. He should have a good shot at landing a utility job. Rotoworld.com
