  • Picks up first win
Carrasco (1-1) earned the win Thursday against the Red Sox, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Carrasco's gotten off to a solid start in his second stint with Cleveland -- the veteran right-hander hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of his first four starts. He lowered his ERA to 3.44 with a 1.53 WHIP and 16:12 K:BB across 18.1 innings after struggling to a 6.80 ERA in 20 starts with the Mets last season. While Carrasco isn't likely to warrant fantasy consideration at this stage in his career, he's likely locked in as the Guardians' fifth starter with Shane Bieber (elbow) out for the year. • Dealing with cranky shoulder
Cobb (hip) is dealing with mild shoulder irritation, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Cobb is primarily recovering from left hip surgery that occurred shortly after the end of the 2023 season. During the ramp up process, he's dealt with both elbow and shoulder issues that have slowed his progress. Cobb described his shoulder as "cranky," but he did note that he doesn't expect his timetable to return to be affected significantly. Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago
  • Short outing vs. Rangers
Maeda did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Rangers, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: It was a tough day for Maeda against a potent Texas offense -- the right-hander gave up five runs on three homers before departing in the third inning. Maeda's ERA is up to 7.64 while allowing a league-most seven home runs across his first four starts (17,2 innings). He'll look to get on track in his next outing, currently slated for early next week in Tampa Bay. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago
  • Triston McKenzie pitching with torn elbow ligament
The Athletic’s Zack Meisel and Jason Lloyd report Triston McKenzie is pitching through a torn ligament in his right elbow.

Advice: McKenzie opted for the rest and rehabilitation route last year instead of undergoing Tommy John surgery, and insists that he isn’t feeling any pain this season. However, his on-field results have been utterly abysmal with a bloated 6.23 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 5/12 K/BB ratio across 13 innings (three starts). The biggest concerns for fantasy managers are that his fastball velocity (90.9 mph) is down nearly two miles-per-hour from two seasons ago (92.5 mph) when he was completely healthy and he’s walked nearly 20 percent of the batters he’s faced so far. Simply put, McKenzie’s early season performance has been alarming, but there appears to be a possible explanation. Fantasy managers should expect Cleveland to continue carefully managing his workload and hope that his stuff rebounds in the coming weeks. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago
  • Struggles in debut
Leiter did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Tigers. He allowed seven runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three in 3.2 innings.

Advice: After a clean first inning, the Tigers tagged Leiter for four runs in the second before tacking on three more with two outs in the fourth. It was a tough debut for the second-overall pick in 2021 -- Leiter struggled to a 5.19 ERA in the minors last year though he'd gotten off to a promising start this season, posting a 3.77 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 14.1 innings with Triple-A Round Rock. Leiter will likely return to the minors, though it wouldn't be surprising to see him get another look with Texas later in the year. Rotowire.com 53 minutes ago
