  • Report: Giants have reached out to 3B Headley
The Giants have reached out to free agent Chase Headley, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

Advice: That's not surprising, with Pablo Sandoval leaving to sign with the Red Sox on Tuesday. Heyman does note that, despite their contact with Headley, that the Giants "seem more enthused ... about some of the outfield options." The Indians and Yankees are among the other teams interested in Headley. Rotoworld.com

  • Red Sox designate Francisco for assignment
Red Sox designated 3B Juan Francisco for assignment.

Advice: Francisco's stay in Boston was brief, as the team grabbed him off waivers from the Blue Jays less than a week prior. Francisco was insurance in the event the club couldn't land a big-name third baseman. He was DFA'd to make room for Hanley Ramirez, but Francisco won't be out of a job for long. Rotoworld.com

  • Phillies ink Phelps to minor league
Phillies signed INF Cord Phelps to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Advice: Phelps spent most of 2014 with the Orioles' Triple-A affiliate, batting .259/.361/.388 with seven homers and 51 RBI in 99 games. The 27-year-old could compete for a bench job in the spring. Rotoworld.com

  • White Sox, LaRoche finalize 2-yr, $25M deal
White Sox signed 1B Adam LaRoche to a two-year, $25 million contract.

Advice: The agreement was reported last Friday and it's now official. LaRoche will make $12 million next season and $13 million in 2016. With Jose Abreu already in-house, the 35-year-old figures to serve as the regular DH for Chicago. LaRoche amassed 26 home runs and 92 RBI in 140 games with the Nationals this season and should continue to post strong power numbers in the hitter-friendly U.S. Cellular Field. Rotoworld.com

  • Rockies among teams interested in Correia
Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that the Rockies are among a "group of teams" showing early interest in free agent right-hander Kevin Correia.

Advice: Correia, 34, had a rough 5.44 ERA over 26 starts and six relief appearances this season between the Twins and Dodgers. He has decent career numbers at Coors Field, but things probably wouldn't get much better with a move to Colorado. Rotoworld.com
