  • Hits go-ahead homer in Game 1
Perez (groin) went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 4-2 win over the White Sox in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader.

Advice: Perez returned from a Grade 1 left groin strain Wednesday and delivered the key hit in the Royals' matinee win. He also went 0-for-2 with two walks in the nightcap while serving as the designated hitter. He appears good to go moving forward after the injury scare. The veteran catcher is off to a hot start with five homers, 17 RBI, nine runs scored and two doubles while slashing .324/.370/.574 over 18 contests this season. Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago
  • Picks up first steal
Bailey went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Marlins.

Advice: Bailey's steal was his first of 2024, matching his total from 97 contests in 2023. As a catcher, speed is often not high on the list of priorities. He's cooled off after posting three multi-hit effort over his first five games this season, but Bailey is still batting .286 with a .765 OPS, one home run, four RBI, three runs scored and two doubles over 51 plate appearances in a starting role. • Picks up first steal of 2024
Alvarez went 1-for--4 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Pirates.

Advice: The 22-year-old doesn't run much, but he's never been caught stealing in the majors, going 3-for-3 in 143 MLB games. Alvarez is struggling to get going at the plate, slashing .241/.293/.370 through 15 games with a homer, a steal, seven runs and eight RBI, but he remains locked in as the Mets' near-everyday catcher. • Sits against righty
Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels, Steve Carney of StPeteNine.com reports.

Advice: Rortvedt has started in just one of the Rays' last five games. The first three of those absences came against left-handed starting pitchers, but the lefty-hitting Rortvedt will give way to the right-handed-hitting Rene Pinto on Thursday even while right-hander Griffin Canning takes the hill for the Angels. • Gets rest day
O'Hoppe is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rays, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: He'll receive a breather for the day game after drawing starts at catcher both of the past two days. Matt Thaiss will check in behind the plate and will form a battery with starting pitcher Griffin Canning. Rotowire.com Today, 7:40 am
  • Back on bench Thursday
Rogers is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rangers, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Rogers had started behind the dish in both of the Tigers' last two games, but he'll hit the bench for the series finale while Carson Kelly handles catching duties for Detroit. The two backstops have been deployed in a timeshare this season, with Kelly drawing 10 starts at catcher compared to Rogers' nine. Rotowire.com Today, 6:39 am
  • Enters as pinch hitter
Moreno (thumb) entered Wednesday's game in the ninth inning as a pinch hitter and went 0-for-1 in a 5-3 loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Moreno was scratched from the lineup the last two games due to the injury. That he pinch hit for his replacement, Tucker Barnhart, and could have entered the game had Arizona tied it up in the ninth, suggests manager Torey Lovullo was comfortable with the thought of Moreno catching. He could rejoin the starting nine Thursday in San Francisco. Rotowire.com Today, 5:04 am
  • Makes two straight starts
Barnhart went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Barnhart made a second consecutive start in place of Gabriel Moreno (thumb) and had his first extra-base hit of the season. Moreno did enter the game as a pinch hitter for Barnhart in the bottom of the ninth inning, flying out to right field. That suggests Moreno could return to the starting lineup Thursday at San Francisco. Rotowire.com Today, 5:00 am
  • Offensive catalyst in win
Raleigh went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks in a win over the Reds on Wednesday.

Advice: Several Mariners hitters enjoyed solid offensive performances Wednesday, but Raleigh set the pace with his three trips on the basepaths. That included the backstop's co-team-high third homer of the season, which erased an early 1-0 deficit for Seattle in the second inning. Raleigh has now reached safely in five straight games, and a career-high 13.1 percent walk rate has helped him get to a .311 on-base percentage despite an uninspiring .208 average.
