Advice: The 42-year-old Vizquel is an 11-time Gold Glove winner and has played mostly shortstop during 21 major league seasons. He figures to add depth to Chicago's young infield. - INF Omar Vizquel proved last season he could handle a utility infield role when he hit .266 for the Texas Rangers and provided his usual sterling defense. The White Sox were suitably impressed and signed him to a one-year, $1.375 million contract. Chicago has young players at both middle-infield spots and third base, and Vizquel figures to be a good mentor as well as a quality backup. He will be playing for another Venezuelan (and a former shortstop), manager Ozzie Guillen.(Yahoo! Sports)

Advice: The deal could be announced as soon as Monday, according to a person familiar with the negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity because the team has not commented. Vizquel, who will be 43 in April, has played 21 major league seasons. Last year he was in a utility role with the Texas Rangers, playing shortstop, third base and second base while appearing in 62 games. He batted .266.
