Commish Notes

  • Congrats to Chris Hyc (Retrovertigo) our 2012 league champ. I think next year we will all need to make a few more moves to keep up... League funds for Buck-A-Cat ROTO 2012 have been allocated. For the record $25 of the money was paid to my PayPal acct when a new owner took over the team drafted by the guy that bailed out. Because of this I am giving HeRowe (Kenny Rowe) the $4 I won in this league and still owe him $21. He will get it when payouts are allocated for the $100 H2H leagues. Kenny Rowe won a total of $97.55 in this league. He gets $76.55 now and $21 before October 10. I'll see you guys next spring. Commish/ JJ

    Buck-A-Cat ROTO payout allocations:

Christopher Hyc will be allocated $283.50

Steve Shields will be allocated $157.25

Kenny Rowe will be allocated $76.55 (HeRowe won $97.55. He'll get $21 in either the Trailer Park Baseball league or the Twenty-Six-Head-On league)

John Ellis will be allocated $66.70

Frank Rullo will be allocated $8.00

Brent Donhauser will be allocated $4.00

Rob Sims will be allocated $4.00 (Rob Sims will also get $14.50 I still owe him from the Fracas On The Mound keeper league)

  • Buck-A-Cat ROTO [2012 - Season III]
    Payout Structure

    Cash Payouts

    - Total Money Pot: $625 ($50 x 13-teams*)

*Imp note: One owner bailed out and the team was resold after the draft to a new owner at half the price for $25. Hence the total cash this year is $625, not $650 as it otherwise would have been. Also as stated in the LeagueSafe.com message board the $25 received from the new owner in question was received after the LeagueSafe deposit deadline so $25 are being kept in my PayPal account. After the conclusion of the MLB season (October 3, 2012) $625 will be paid out to include the money kept in PayPal.

    - Money Pot for Categories: $108 (comprises about 17.3% of the Total Money Pot)

    • Number of Categories: 12 Cats (6 batting & 6 pitching)

    • Category Prizes (*assuming no ties there are three small prizes per category)

    1. Cat Winners: $4 (each category winner gets $4 for a total of $48 available for cat winners)

    2. 2nd Place Per Cat: $3 (each 2nd place in each category gets $3 for a total of $36 available for cat runner-ups)

    3. 3rd Place Per Cat: $2 (each 3rd place in each category gets $2 for a total of $24 available for 3rd places)

*Teams that finish in a tie in any one category will evenly split the sum of the corresponding category prizes in that category and according to the set of rules enumerated below.

    • Tie-rules for Category Prizes (Please see category and end-of season tie rules in the full payouts structure that was sent to your email)

    - Top-4 Money Pot (Minimum): $517 (About 82.7% of the Total Money Pot)

    • Top-4 Prizes (assuming no ties)

    1. Champ (50%) - $258.50 of Minimum Top-4 Pot 271
    2. Runner-up (25%) - $129.25 of Minimum Top-4 Pot 135.50
    3. 3rd Place (15%) - $77.55 of Minimum Top-4 Pot 81.30
    4. 4th Place: (10%) - $51.70 of Minimum Top-4 Pot 54.20

Note: Teams that finish in a tie for a Top-4 prize will evenly split the sum of the corresponding Top-4 prizes according to the set of rules set forth below.

(See category and end-of season tie rules in the full payouts structure sent to your email)

    Abandoned/ Confiscated Teams (Forfeited Cash)

Owners that abandon their teams all year long or those whose teams get confiscated due to collusion will have their season winnings forfeited. In such cases the money won (in larger or smaller prizes, if any) by these abandoned or confiscated teams, will get added to the Top-4 end-of season money pot, and made available to the teams that finish at the top of the standings in good order.

As illustrated above, the minimum Top-5 Money Pot in this league is $517 (or $625 from league buy-ins minus $108 for category prizes). However, this minimum may always increase if there are teams that fail to comply with basic fantasy league rules or if there are dead teams by the end of the regular season.

I will make league payments in LeagueSafe.com for all 2012 leagues within a week after the end of the MLB regular season. The entire payouts structure did not fit in the Commish Note section so please look for the full version in your email for details not included here.

  • Guys just to let you know I haven't forgotten about the payouts.. I will post that here once I can. Just heads up that for this particular league the payouts should be about the same as last year. I apologize for the delay. Good luck all in the second half.. JJ

  • Welcome all to Buck-A-Cat ROTO - Season 3. Only two managers failed to secure a spot for this year edition: Missing Links and Springfield Homers. A third owner, Matt (Raspy Tigerfish) said last year he would probably not be able to play this year due to his MBA but I sent him the invite anyway in case he decides to give it a shot. Hopefully, all the other owners that played last year will be back this season. So in the best case scenario we'll need two or three more to round the 2012 group.

The league has the same settings we had last season. I considered adding a 14th team this year but settled leaving the league with 13 as in the previous two seasons so we may compare our stats year-by-year.

League trades will be reviewed by the league and ruled by votes rather than by the commissioner for the time being. After a couple of years together I think we can agree everybody will make use of their best judgment when analyzing other people's trades. It’s not whether the trade favors your chances what should influence your decision; it’s whether the trade is sound and fair to the owners involved and the league as a whole. No two players in a trade are exactly equal so as long as the trade is not outright dumb or worthless please let’s allow it to stand. With that said, please note that if there are problems with the league votes system (say trades that should pass getting turned down viciously; or trades that should be vetoed passing uncontested; or excessive arguments for petty issues) then as Commish I will intervene for the good of the league perhaps by going back to the other system where owners send their votes via email to the Commissioner for review. This is how we had it early last year when many of us were still getting to know each other.

I set all 2012 leagues to public viewing, which means you can search them online or provide the URL to friends & family or anyone that might want to check out the leagues.

Finally, as for the draft date, I left it for Wed Mar 14 9:15pm EDT as we had it last year. We can later debate on that date and if needed make adjustments as everybody check their upcoming schedule. But please let’s try to make an effort to leave it unchanged if possible.

I’ll get to the Leaguesafe phase of the setup after registering all 2012 leagues on Yahoo.

Don't forget... the man to beat in this league this year is HeRowe Cats so get ready cuz last year the man had us all down for most of the season. I graphed last year’s action, though. I'll show it to y'all later. This season we'll get to see the graph as the season unfolds.
