Commish Notes

  • League funds for Cat-20 Rotisserie have been allocated. Congratulations to James Miller (Psychotic Krunch) our Cat-20 Rotisserie 2012 champ. The total cash for this league is $1,013, of which I kept $38 in PayPal when a new manager took over a dead team. I sent an email to Richard Hooker (North44) informing him that he will receive $38 along with his winnings when I submit payments for the Twenty-Six Head-On league. In this league North44 won $48.65. He received $10.65 now and will get his other $38 in the other league. Also, for the record, HeRowe (Kenny) will also get $21 and Sprockets (Rob) will receive $14.50 for amounts owed to them from two other leagues. This will all be done when the next league allocations are submitted. I apologize for the inconvenience. One owner bailing out after the draft is something none of us expected. Hopefully we’ll do this again next year. Thank you all for playing… JJ

    Payout Structure (Reviewed)

    Cash Payouts

    Total Money Pot: $1,013 ($75 x 13-teams plus $38*)

*Note: One owner bailed out and the team was resold after the draft to a new owner at about half the price for $38. Hence the total cash this year is $1,013, not $1,050 as it otherwise would have been. Also as stated in the LeagueSafe.com message board the $38 received from the new owner was received after the LeagueSafe deposit deadline so $38 are being kept in my PayPal account. After the conclusion of the MLB season (October 3, 2012) $1,013 will be paid out to include the money kept in PayPal.

Money Pot for Categories: $240 (comprises about 23.69% of the Total Money Pot)

Number of Categories: 12 Cats (6 batting & 6 pitching)

Category Prizes (*assuming no ties there are three small prizes per category)

    1. Cat Winners: $10 (each category winner gets $10 for a total of $120 available for cat winners)

    2. 2nd Place Per Cat: $6 (each 2nd place in each category gets $6 for a total of $72 available for cat runner-ups)

    3. 3rd Place Per Cat: $4 (each 3rd place in each category gets $4 for a total of $48 available for 3rd places)

*Teams that finish in a tie in any one category will evenly split the sum of the corresponding category prizes in that category and according to the set of rules enumerated below.

Tie-rules for Category Prizes (See category and end-of season tie rules in the full payouts structure sent to your email)

Top-5 Money Pot (*Minimum): $773 (About 76.31% of the Total Money Pot)

    Top-5 Prizes (**assuming no ties)

    1. Champ (45%) - $347.85 of Minimum Top-5 Pot
    2. Runner-up (25%) - $193.25 of Minimum Top-5 Pot
    3. 3rd Place (15%) - $115.95 of Minimum Top-5 Pot
    4. 4th Place: (10%) - $77.30 of Minimum Top-5 Pot
    5. 5th Place: (5%) - $38.65 of Minimum Top-5 Pot

Note: Teams that finish in a tie for a Top-5 prize will evenly split the sum of the corresponding Top-5 prizes according to the set of rules set forth below.

(See category and end-of season tie rules in the full payouts structure sent to your email)

    Abandoned/ Confiscated Teams (Forfeited Cash)

Owners that abandon their teams all year long or those whose teams get confiscated due to collusion will have their season winnings forfeited. As explained already, in such cases all the money won (in larger or smaller prizes, if any) by these abandoned or confiscated teams, will get added to the Top-5 Money Pot, and made available to the teams that finish at the top of the standings in good order.

As illustrated above, the minimum Top-5 Money Pot in this league is $773 (or $1,013 from league buy-ins minus $240 for category prizes). However, this minimum may always increase if there are teams that fail to comply with basic sportsmanship rules or if there are dead teams by the end of the regular season.

League payments will be available in LeagueSafe.com for all 2012 leagues within a week after the end of the MLB regular season. Look for the full version of this payouts structure in your email for details not included here.

All league members must display both email address and fantasy sports profile in the league throughout the season. Interested owners must provide real full name, ph/ or cel #, and Yahoo email to enter the league. You may later use any other email you normally use for your leagues. Failure to comply with these simple and basic guides will not gain you access into the league. Also, I am looking for an owner that displays sportsmanship and respect towards others. We can go with 13 teams but I would very much rather find the last owner to have the same number of teams we had last year.

  • Welcome to Cat-20 Rotisserie - Season 2. As in the other rotisserie league looks like we will only be missing a couple of managers in this league. Cleve STEAMIN In Ny, Newark Eagles and Springfield Homers will not be with us this year unless they have a change of heart. Newark and Cleve said they will play in the H2H leagues, though. So of 14 here we’ll get 11 back plus two other owners from other leagues that have shown interest. That leaves us only one manager short for now.

As with the other leagues this league will not change its settings. It’s going to be the same game, with the same rules.

League trades will be reviewed by the league and ruled by votes rather than by the commissioner for the time being. After a couple of years together I’m sure we agree everybody will make use of their best judgment when analyzing other owner’s trades. It’s not whether the trade favors your chances what should influence your decision; it’s whether the trade is sound and fair to the owners involved and the league as a whole. No two players in a trade are exactly equal so as long as the trade is not outright dumb or worthless please let’s allow it to stand. With that said, please note that if there are problems with the league votes system (say trades that should pass get turned down viciously; or trades that should be vetoed pass uncontested; or excessive arguments for petty issues) then as Commish I will have to intervene for the good of the league, perhaps by going back to the other system where owners send their votes via email to the Commissioner for review. This is how we had it early last year when many of us were still getting acquainted.

I set up all 2012 leagues to public viewing. You can search them online or provide the URL to friends & family or anyone that might want to check out the leagues.

As for the draft date, I set it up for Mon Mar 12 9:15pm EDT for now to see if we all agree. Last year we had it on March 16th but this year that falls on a Friday and since I already have one for Wednesday that week then let’s try Monday 12th. We can always tweak that date if needed. It would help if everybody checks their upcoming schedule before the date gets too close. Please let’s try to make an effort to leave it unchanged if possible.

I’ll get to the registration of the leagues on Leaguesafe.com once we have all the 2012 leagues on Yahoo.

Last year we had five different champs in all my money leagues. So this season I’m throwing a little challenge out there in all leagues for all to try to beat the reigning champs. And in this league is no exception. I need someone to take my feisty Joltin’ Brickbats down or otherwise I’m going to have to write a freaking book about how you all allowed me to make up for 50+ pts two years in a row in come-from-behind wins. Man you know I hate to trash talk but sometimes I feel I need to do just that to get everybody motivated. I'll show you guys last year’s graph for this league later on. This season we'll get to see the 2012 graphs from the start of the season.
