Commish Notes

  • Congratulations to Michael Ferraina (MIZZA) from Boston, MA, for winning Twenty-Six Head-On 2012. For the record, I am giving $21 to Kenny Rowe (HeRowe) out of my winnings in this league. I am also adding $14.50 to Rob Sims (Sprockets) and another $38 to Richard Hooker (North44), for money owed to them in other '12 money leagues. All of this comes out of my Twenty-Six Head-On winnings. I am also giving back to the league here the $50 I received in PayPal earlier this year from the manager that took over the abandoned team after the draft. To that owner and the other owner that stepped up to the plate thanks for bailing us out after LS allowed the blunder back in March. So the total cash in this league is $1,350 as illustrated in the Excel spreadsheet I sent out to all. I'd like to thank all for playing this year and would like to extend you an invite to continue in the league next season. Commish (JJ)

    Payout Structure (reviewed)

    Cash Payouts

    - Total Money Pot: $1,350 ($100 x 13-teams plus $50*)

*Imp note: One owner bailed out and the team was resold after the draft to a new owner for half the price ($50). For this reason the total cash this year for this particular league is $1,350, not $1,400 as it would have been otherwise. Also as stated in the LeagueSafe.com message board earlier this year the $50 received from the new owner was received after the LeagueSafe deposit deadline. Because of this the $50 could not be deposited directly in LeagueSafe.com. The $50 paid by the new owner for the team is safely kept in my PayPal account. The other $1,300 is currently in LeagueSafe.com. After the conclusion of the MLB season $1,350 will be paid out to include the money kept in PayPal. Please take note of these changes and how the changes affect the playoffs prizes below.

    - Weekly Match Prizes: $3.50 per weekly match game (Ties in match games split the match prize - $1.75 each)

    - Regular Season Match Pot: $539 ($3.50 times 7-matchups per wk times 22-wks)

o The regular season match pot is approx. 39.9% of the total money pot

    - Divisional Pot: $32 ($16 per division, two divisions)

o The division prizes comprise merely 2.4% (approximately) of the total money pot. There are two divisions in this H2H league. Both division winners will receive $10.00 for winning the divisions, and the two division runner-ups will get $6.00 each. Teams tied in winning percentage at the top of a division or for second place within a division at the end of the 22-weeks regular season will split the division prizes evenly regardless of Yahoo’s tiebreaker system.

o Yahoo’s tiebreaker system affects how teams are seeded for the playoffs.

    - **Minimum Playoffs Pot: $779 (about 57.7% of Total Pot)

    1. Champ (50%) - $389.50 of the Playoffs Pot
    2. Runner-up (25%) - $194.75 of the Playoffs Pot
    3. 3rd Place (15%) - $116.85 of the Playoffs Pot
    4. 4th Place (10%) - $77.90 of the Playoffs Pot

    **Important:

The above Top-4 playoffs prizes are subject to the size of the Minimum Playoffs Pot. The playoffs prizes will never fall below of the minimum stated here but the amounts may increase if there are teams that fail to clear the Low Performance Penalty (see LP Rule below). Also, the Minimum Playoffs Pot will increase if there is any forfeited cash added from abandoned or confiscated teams (dead teams), or from teams that are ineligible for prizes (i.e. fail to pay buy-in). Under any such events the Minimum Playoffs Pot could increase, thus enhancing the prizes for the Top-4 teams at the end of the season.

The full Payouts Structure does not fit in the Commish Note so I only added the cash distribution here. Please refer to the LP and IP Rules and other important info/ dates, etc. in the full version of this Payouts Structure which I sent to all by email. Let me know if there are any questions.

    Thanks,
    JJ

  • Welcome to Twenty-Six Head-On - Season 2. As mentioned at the end of the season last year I am fusing into one both 2011 Twenty-Six Head-On leagues. If everybody that showed interest for a return joins the league this year then we are all set with 16 owners in the league.

The league settings will be pretty much the same with a couple of minor exceptions. Since we will have two additional teams I am splitting the league into four divisions (of four teams each) instead of just two divisions of seven teams like we had last year. But we are still going by overall standings in the end, not by divisional standings; so nothing changes there. The four divisions are just to assign divisional prizes and to make the competition more appealing. This league is now exactly the same as Buck-A-Win H2H (with 16 teams and four divisions). The only difference between this league and Buck-A-Win H2H is that the other one is a $30 league while this is a $75 league. Even the payouts structure will be the same. Those of you that did not play in Buck-A-Win last season don’t worry. Sometime tomorrow I will give you the heads up on how the prizes are split. Trust me is not much different from how the dough was split last year in the 2011 Twenty-Six Head-On leagues.

League trades will be reviewed by the league and ruled by votes rather than by the commissioner for the time being. After a couple of years together I’m sure we agree everybody will make use of their best judgment when analyzing other owner’s trades. It’s not whether the trade favors your chances what should influence your decision; it’s whether the trade is sound and fair to the owners involved and the league as a whole. No two players in a trade are exactly equal so as long as the trade is not outright dumb or worthless please let’s allow it to stand. With that said, please note that if there are problems with the league votes system (say trades that should pass get turned down viciously; or trades that should be vetoed pass uncontested; or excessive arguments for petty issues) then, as Commish, I will have to intervene for the good of the league, perhaps by going back to the other system where owners send their votes via email to the Commissioner for review. This is how we had it early last year when many of us were still getting acquainted.

I set up all 2012 leagues to public viewing. You can search them online or provide the URL to friends & family or anyone that might want to check out the leagues.

As for the draft date, I set it up for Tue Mar 6 9:15pm EDT for now to see how that fits into our schedule. Last year we had one of the drafts for the Twenty-Six Head-On leagues on March 7 and the other on March 15. Both were at 9:15 PM EDT. So perhaps everybody will be fine with holding a draft a bit earlier this year on Mar 6 at the same time after everybody gets off work. We can always tweak that date if needed but please let’s try our best to find a spot for the draft on that date & time if possible. It would help if everybody checks their upcoming schedule before the date gets too close in case we have to change it.

I’ll get to the registration of the leagues on Leaguesafe.com once we have all the 2012 leagues on Yahoo.

Last year we had five different champs in all the cash leagues I set up. This season I’m throwing a challenge out there for all to try to beat the reigning champs. In this league Hannibal Lester won the Twenty-Six Head-On II league so he’s our reigning champ; the team to beat. The champ of Twenty-Six Head-On I guess decided to stay playing the roto game - he’s in my two 2012 roto leagues. For some reason he never asked me to secure his spot in this league. I haven’t asked him why.

I have a new team name for this league. You guys may use the same you had last year or change it too if you’re looking for a little luck.

The H2H spreadsheets I talked about are well ahead. We’ll talk about that at a later date. It’s still a young season.

Playball ! ! And good luck to all this season.
