KEEPER RULES FOR 2024

“THE GOLDEN RULE” - Every team may keep up to 7 players, but must take them in rounds 1 – 7. Each player can only be taken in the round that Our League’s default ranking list is projecting them to be taken or in an earlier round.

NOTE: Creating a default ranking list for the league is the most important issue I have. The list will combine yahoo’s rankings on the Players page and the page used to Autodraft by using whatever ranking is best. I will post a list in the commissioner note in early March.

Keeper FAQ

Q. What if my team sucks and I don’t want to keep anyone?
A. You don’t need to keep any players at all. The Golden Rule is designed for every team to have a competitive draft. This is not a “dynasty league” that allows teams to hoard an overabundance of great players. Lots of good players are available to be drafted in all rounds.

Q. If this is my first year as a manager in this league, how can I keep players?
A. I will send you a list of players that were on the team of the manager you are replacing. You will have to email me your keepers instead of specifying them online.

Q. Are there any restriction on “keeping” a player in consecutive seasons?
A. No, you can keep a player for his entire career as long as you follow the golden rule.

Q. Which players from my team am I allowed to keep?
A. On the last day of the fantasy season, yahoo locks your roster. Any player that is on your (final day) roster is eligible to be a keeper.

Q. Can we trade players in March to be used as keepers?
A. No. I think this would result in fewer good players in the draft pool. I want to error on the side of having a good draft pool because having a healthy league means I need for the managers of teams low in the standings to be able to improve their teams in the draft.


What will the 2024 Draft Order be like?
The (snake) draft order will be determined by the yahoo rank of the keeper players for the 1st and 2nd rounds.
There are basically three situations:
A team keeps a player in the FIRST round.
A team doesn't keep any player in the FIRST or SECOND round.
A team keeps a player in the SECOND round, but not the FIRST.

Examples:
1) if a team elects to keep a player that Yahoo ranks 5th, then that team will pick 5th.
2) if a team doesn't keep any player in the first two rounds, their draft position will be based on the performance of their team last season. The worst team in this category will be allowed to choose from the available draft slots, ect..
3) if a team elects to keep a player that Yahoo ranks 15th as their earliest keeper, they will be inserted into the draft so that their 2nd round pick is as close to 15th as possible. Priority will be given to managers in case 2) above.
