Commish Notes

  • Keeper Rules

    - You can choose to keep between 0 and 4 players

    - All players can be kept at a 10 round penalty from where they were drafted the year before (i.e. a player drafting in Rd 21 can be kept in Rd 11 the following year) This ensures that no player drafted within the first 10 rounds can be kept, and that no player can be kept for more than 2 seasons.

    - If you have two keepers drafted in the same round, the player who was taken earlier in the round is subject to an extra round penalty (Example: You draft a player in Round 23, and later in the year acquire a player via trade also drafted in Round 23, both of whom you want to keep. The player drafted earlier would be a 12th round pick, the player drafted later will be a 13th round pick.)

    - DEADLINE TO DECLARE KEEPERS will be set 1 week prior to the draft. The actual date will obviously change year to year, depending on when the draft is scheduled
    - Only in the event of an INJURY can owners choose to swap out or pass on a keeper that’s been declared
    - Any verifiable injury is acceptable

-Any UNDRAFTED players count as a 11th round keeper the following year
(This was changed from Round 15 -- league voted prior to '22 season)

-Any player picked up as a Free Agent AFTER May 31st is ineligible to be kept

    Keeper Trade Deadline
    - Any keeper must be acquired by the YAHOO DEFAULT TRADE DEADLINE, same as any other player
    - For the 2023 season the trade deadline is August 10th

    Expansion Draft

-In the event of league expansion, new teams will have the option to acquire keeper players from non-returning managers
    - If there is ONE NEW TEAM, they have the option to take over the 1 available roster and any qualified keepers
    - If there are MULTIPLE NEW TEAMS, they will participate in an AUCTION SYTLE KEEPER DRAFT, rules for which are as follows:
    - Commissioners will review all dead rosters and compile a list of all conceivable keepers

    - Only players that fit our established keeper criteria and ended the season on a roster will be eligible
    - Keeper list will be distributed to the expansion teams minimum 10-days prior to the draft to allow for preparation
    - Auction draft will commence via email, with commissioners acting as the moderators
    - Bidding order will be selected at random by the commissioners
    - Expansion teams are allotted a budget of $20 to bid on prospective keepers
    - Once a player is nominated, all expansion teams follow with their maximum bid, with keepers rewarded to the team with the highest bid

IF THERE IS A TIE, the tiebreaker is the nomination order, same as a snake draft
    - Expansion teams can draft anywhere from 0-4 keepers, the same amount of keepers available to returning teams

Obviously, the keeper crop will vary year to year and there may not be enough to fill 4 keepers for each expansion team

    Payouts/League Fees
Entry fee is $300 per team

    Pay Structure:
    1st - $1,850
    2nd - $1,050
    3rd - $785
    4th - $100
    5th- $75
    6th- 11th- $50
    12th- $25
    13th- $15
    14th- $0

All league fees are due March 1st for each season (approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the draft).

After March 1st, the league reserves the right to find a new owner to replace any unpaid team(s).

If there are multiple teams unpaid, open franchises will be distributed to expansion teams at the commissioners’ discretion.

    Trade Review

    League Trade Review
    - Every trade is up for league review for a 24-hour period
    - If no league member vetoes, the trade will be processed by the commissioner after 24 hours

    Vetoes:
    - Must be posted to the message board
    - TWO VETOES triggers a full 48-hour trade review
    - A MAJORITY of the non-involved teams must veto in order to kill the trade

    Trade Review Expectations
    - When evaluating a trade, assume that each manager involved knows how to manage their own team
    - Trades should only be vetoed in the event there is a GROSS and OBVIOUS imbalance between the value of players exchanging hands – OR— if collusion can be PROVEN
    - It is the expectation of the commissioners and league as a whole that trades will not be vetoed for self-serving reasons, these include: competitive advantage, to intentionally delay acquisition of a player, jealousy/ spite, etc.
    - In the event a manager abuses their trade privileges for self-serving reasons, the commissioners, at their discretion, can initiate a league vote league to revoke a manager’s trade privileges
    - Once revoked, trade review privileges will NOT be reinstated for subsequent seasons

Trades involving keepers should be evaluated under the same principles. However, it is to be expected that the team surrendering future value may be getting marginally better present value in return.
