  • Undergoes knee surgery
Delay recently underwent surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Delay is expected to be ready to resume baseball activities in six weeks and it figures to be several weeks after that before he might be ready to return to the Pirates. Pittsburgh is currently using Henry Davis and Joey Bart as its catching duo, but Yasmani Grandal (foot) recently began a rehab assignment. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago
  • Hit in loss
Lopez went 1-for-2 in a 2-1 win over Kansas City on Wednesday.

Advice: It's been a difficult start to the season for the 29-year-old, as Lopez's slash line sits at .167/.255/.167. While he does have two hits over the last five games, the infielder has yet to tally an extra-base hit and he's been a liability on the base paths during the rare occasion that he's gotten on base, having been thrown out four times this season. The six-year veteran signed a one-year, $4.3 million contract with the White Sox this offseason, but given the team's dreary record, it wouldn't be surprising to see Lopez get ample opportunities to find his way out of this rut. • RBI double in win
Flores went 1-for-1 with a RBI double in the 5-0 win over the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

Advice: Flores entered in the eighth inning with the bases loaded and immediately smacked a two-run double, which accounted for only his third extra-base hit of the new campaign. While the veteran has been on the short side of the platoon with LaMonte Wade at first base, the Giants have found a way to get Flores' bat in the lineup situationally throughout most of the season. The 32-year-old has yet to tally a home run in the 2024 campaign, but given his slugging percentage (.311) is woefully below his career norms, the power could be returning in short order. • Will make another rehab start
Walker (shoulder) will make one more rehab start with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday before rejoining the Phillies' rotation, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Phillies had considered having Walker's next appearance be with the big club, but they've ultimately opted to give him one more tune-up. It sets Walker up for his season debut next weekend in San Diego. Spencer Turnbull has pitched well as Walker's rotation substitute but could lose his spot once Walker returns. • RBI in loss
Farmer went 1-for-3 with an RBI in the 4-2 loss to the Orioles on Wednesday.

Advice: Farmer has played in six games since Carlos Correa injured his oblique bouncing between third and shortstop over the past week. While the Twins have said the All-Star's injury is relatively minor, his return status remains unclear, which should open up opportunities for Farmer to get more at-bats. A lifetime .252 hitter, there's bound to be a bit of positive regression to the mean with the veteran averaging .097 across 38 at-bats this season. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago
  • One walk, one run in win
Short went 0-for-3 with one run and one walk in the 9-1 win over the Pirates on Wednesday.

Advice: With Brett Baty out due to a hamstring injury, Short got just his second start since April. The utility infielder likely will have a spot carved out on the roster due to his versatility, and he's at least not a minus runner in the event he's able to get on base. Don't expect the 28-year-old to see much more than a spot start on occasion unless multiple members of the infield pick up injuries. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago

  • Takes seat Friday
Joe is out of the lineup for Friday's game versus Boston.

Advice: Joe is 4-for-21 over his past seven games and will take a seat for Friday's series opener. Jack Suwinski, Michael Taylor and Bryan Reynolds will start from left to right in the outfield. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago
  • Yankees recall Cody Morris
Yankees recalled RHP Cody Morris from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Advice: Morris gets the call up with Nick Burdi heading to the injured list. The 27-year-old has been down at the Triple-A level this season where he’s posted an impressive 1.93 ERA in his four appearances where he’s pitched 9 1/3 innings and has allowed just two earned runs with a 11/6 K/BB ratio. • Confirmed as Friday's starter
Priester was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis and is starting Friday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: It'll be Priester's first MLB appearance of the campaign after he missed out on Pittsburgh's Opening Day roster. The 23-year-old righty struggled to a 7.74 ERA over 10 outings in his first taste of the big leagues in 2023, but he pitched well at Triple-A early this season with a 3.95 ERA and 20:5 K:BB across 13.2 frames.
