    • Dealing with rotator cuff injury
      Yamamoto (triceps) was diagnosed with a right rotator cuff strain Sunday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

      Advice: Yamamoto was lifted from his start Saturday versus the Royals in the third inning with right tricep tightness before being placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday. It is now understood to be a rotator cuff injury, which is certainly a more significant diagnosis. Manager Dave Roberts said that the injury is not "season ending" but it's "going to be some time" before the right-hander will be able to return. In regards to his replacement in the Dodgers' starting rotation, Bobby Miller (shoulder) is expected to return to the major-league roster Wednesday.     • Max Scherzer expected to join Rangers’ rotation
      Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters on Sunday that as long as Max Scherzer bounces back alright following his minor league rehab start on Saturday, that he’ll join the Rangers’ rotation and make his 2024 regular season debut during the upcoming week.

      Advice: Scherzer threw 79 pitches (55 strikes) over 4 2/3 innings in his final minor league tune-up at Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday — giving up three runs on four hits and a pair of walks while punching out eight batters.     • Adames slugs three-run home run in win Sunday
      Willy Adames went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run against the Reds on Sunday.

      Parker (5-3) picked up the win Sunday against Miami, allowing one earned run on six hits and zero walks while striking out four over six innings.

      Advice: Parker's excellent rookie season continued as he turned in another quality start, his fourth over his past six games. During that span, the southpaw has pitched to a 3.03 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP and a 25:8 K:BB across 35.2 innings. While Parker doesn't typically post high-strikeout totals, he has been remarkably consistent all season, allowing three earned runs or fewer in all 12 of his starts.       Alec Bohm went 3-for-4 with a double, walk, and two runs batted in on Sunday against the Orioles.

    • Zack Wheeler bombarded by Orioles
      Zack Wheeler allowed eight earned runs in 4 1/3 innings on Sunday in a loss to the Orioles. He struck out four and walked two.

      Advice: This was Wheeler’s worst start as a Phillie and the first time he’s allowed eight earned runs since 2018. Baltimore jumped on him with homers in each of the first three innings and then Jordan Westburg put the cherry on top with his three-run blast.       Jacob Young went 2-for-3 with a solo home run against the Marlins on Sunday.



      Advice: It was Young’s first home run in his two-year career. His fantasy utility comes purely from his speed on the bases. Young has 17 steals in 60 games with the Nationals this year.

    • Parker picks up fifth win against Marlins Sunday
      Mitchell Parker allowed one run in six innings and got the win in the Nationals’ 3-1 victory over the Marlins on Sunday.



      Advice: Parker gave up six hits, walked none and struck out three. The win was his fifth of the year. It was also Parker’s fifth quality start in 12 starts this year. His ERA is 3.06 on the year despite a 4.02 xFIP. Parker does everything well except get a lot of strikeouts. He has a 42 percent ground ball percentage. Parker’s allowed 0.80 HR/9 and 2.00 BB/9. He’s doing everything he can to prop up an 18 percent strikeout percentage, which gives him a fragile profile. The 24-year-old left-hander is set to face the Rockies on the road next week.

      The Dodgers placed Yamamoto (triceps) on the 15-day injured list Sunday.

      Advice: Yamamoto struck out a batter over two scoreless innings before he was lifted from his start in Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Royals after he had experienced tightness in his right tricep while warming up prior to the game. Roberts hinted after the game that Yamamoto was likely to land on the IL, and the Dodgers have made the move official prior to Sunday's series finale. According to David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports, Roberts suggested that Yamamoto will be sent in for further testing Sunday before an official diagnosis for the injury and a timeline for his return is provided.
