      Advice: Ryan surrendered a two-run homer to Tyler Soderstrom in the second inning, but those were the only runs the A's managed against the righty hurler. Ryan finished with a stat line very similar to his previous outing, when he gave up two runs on three hits over seven frames versus Pittsburgh, though that performance came in a losing effort.       Munoz (back) picked up the loss Thursday as the Mariners fell to the White Sox, allowing an unearned run in the 10th inning.

      Advice: Munoz allowed a walk and a hit before a fielder's choice brought home the automatic runner. The good news was that Munoz didn't allow much in the way of hard contact and generated three swings and misses among his 17 pitches, 11 of which were strikes.       Reynolds went 1-for-5 with an RBI on Thursday against the Cardinals.

      Advice: Reynolds hit a comebacker that glanced off Lance Lynn in the fifth inning to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. The outfielder has gone 15-for-46 in that span, while also tallying six RBI and five runs scored. Even with the strong stretch, Reynolds is hitting a mediocre .262 and also has a .160 ISO across 306 plate appearances this season -- the lowest mark of his career.       Joe Ryan allowed two runs in seven innings and got the win in the Twins’ 6-2 victory over the Athletics on Thursday.

      Advice: Ryan gave up three hits, walked one and struck out five. The win was his fifth of the year. Both of the runs for Oakland came on a Tyler Soderstrom two-run home run in the second inning. Ryan hung a splitter to Soderstrom, but it was basically the only mistake he made on the night. It was Ryan’s 10th quality start of the season. His ERA is now 3.24 on the year. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rays at home next week.

      Keller (8-4) was charged with the loss after he allowed four runs on eight hits with four strikeouts over six innings Thursday against the Cardinals.

      Advice: Keller's four earned runs allowed tied a season high, but he still managed to extend a streak of seven straight starts of at least six innings. He gave up a homers to Paul Goldschmidt and Brendan Donovan, making it the first time this season he's allowed multiple long balls in a game.       Mitch Keller lost to the Cardinals after giving up four runs in six innings Thursday.

      Advice: Holmes was one out away from his 20th save of the season before serving up a two-run double to Maikel Garcia. The 31-year-old closer had gone nine straight appearances without allowing a run and still carries an impressive 1.80 ERA for the season. As the ninth-inning man for the club with the most wins in MLB, he remains one of the safest options at the position, with his 19 saves being tied for third most this season.       Clay Holmes took a blown save and a loss after giving up two runs and three hits in the ninth Thursday against the Royals.

      Advice: Holmes made his own trouble by botching the play at first base on the soft infield single that started the ninth. Another single followed, and then Maikel Garcia ended the game with a double that stayed just fair down the right field line.
