    • Back from injured list
The Royals reinstated Bubic (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Saturday.

Advice: Bubic has been on the injured list all season while working his way back from the Tommy John procedure he underwent last April. In nine rehab appearances with Triple-A Omaha, the 26-year-old lefty posted a 2.63 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 27.1 innings. He'll transition to the bullpen as he returns to Kansas City and will likely serve in a multi-inning relief role. Walter Pennington was optioned to Omaha in order to make room on the active roster, and Colin Selby was DFA'd to clear a 40-man spot. Rotowire.com Saturday, 2:13 pm
    • Royals activate Kris Bubic (elbow) from 60-day IL
Royals activated LHP Kris Bubic from the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The 26-year-old southpaw will work out of the Royals’ bullpen for the time being as he continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery. Bubic logged 35 2/3 innings on his minor league rehab assignment, registering a 3.53 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 42/13 K/BB ratio. Walter Pennington was optioned to Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move on Saturday. Rotoworld Saturday, 2:10 pm
    • Notches 17th save
Jansen gave up a hit in a scoreless 10th inning Friday to record his 17th save of the season in a 5-3 win over the Yankees.

Advice: The veteran closer is on an impressive roll. Jansen has been scored upon only once in his last 14 appearances, racking up two wins and 10 saves on 10 chances over that stretch with a 0.61 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 13:2 K:BB over 14.2 innings. The 36-year-old isn't as dominant as he was during his Dodgers heyday, but Jansen is still finding ways to be effective and has yet to serve up a home run in 2024. Rotowire.com Saturday, 6:48 am
    • Kenley Jansen throws scoreless 10th for save
Kenley Jansen worked a scoreless 10th inning for his 17th save Friday against the Yankees.

Advice: Working with a two-run lead, Jansen allowed a single but still prevented the automatic runner from scoring in a 5-3 game. It’s his ninth straight scoreless appearance, and his ERA currently stands at 2.08. Rotoworld Friday, 10:58 pm
    • Throws live bullpen session
Stewart (shoulder) threw 20 pitches to live hitters before Friday night's game, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Advice: The right-hander has been on the shelf with shoulder tendinitis since early May. He's had several bullpen sessions in the past few weeks, and the advancement to live hitters could be an indication he's ready for a rehab assignment. However, no schedule for the next step of his comeback has been announced. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:57 pm

    • Locks down 22nd save
Kimbrel picked up the save in Friday's 3-2 victory over the Athletics. He pitched a clean inning with two strikeouts.

Advice: The veteran closer extended his scoreless appearances streak to six with this performance, promptly retiring the side on a tidy 10 pitches. Kimbrel stands fourth all-time in career saves with 439, needing 40 more to pass Lee Smith for third. The Baltimore right-hander has been nearly untouchable since May 10, firing a 0.45 ERA, 0.25 WHIP and 29:5 K:BB across 20 innings while securing 14 saves. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:55 pm
    • Craig Kimbrel saves 22nd game vs. Athletics
Craig Kimbrel struck out two while picking up a save Friday against the Athletics.

Advice: Kimbrel didn’t allow a hit and needed just 10 pitches — seven of them strikes — to get through the Oakland lineup. There have been a few blips for the right-hander, but this was a reminder that there’s been more good than bad in his time as the Baltimore stopper. It’s the 22nd save of the year, and his ERA is now a very solid 2.16 on the 2024 campaign. Rotoworld Friday, 9:15 pm
    • Kenley Jansen nails down 17th save
Kenley Jansen kept the Yankees off the board in the 10th inning to secure the save on Friday night.

Advice: Jansen was tasked with facing Juan Soto and Aaron Judge up two runs in the 10th inning and didn’t allow anyone to score. He slammed the door in what was a dramatic win for his Red Sox. Jansen hasn’t allowed an earned run since June 12th and hasn’t blown a save since April 16th. Take that, father time. Rotoworld Friday, 8:07 pm
    • Grabs sixth win Thursday
Stanek (6-2) got the win over the Orioles on Thursday, firing a clean seventh inning during which he recorded two strikeouts.

Advice: Stanek entered the game a bit earlier than customary and delivered a crisp 11-pitch effort that saw him locate nine of his offerings for strikes. The hard-throwing right-hander then became the pitcher of record when the Mariners broke open a 2-2 tie with a five-run inning in the home half of the frame. Stanek's six victories are a career high, and the ultra-efficient outing against a dangerous offense was a welcome sight after the Twins had touched him up for two runs over one inning in his most recent appearance Sunday.
