Raleigh went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, a stolen base and two walks in Monday's 4-3 loss to Tampa Bay.
Advice: Raleigh slugged his 13th home run of the season, his first since June 10. The 27-year-old has batted just .178 over the past two weeks, but he has added two home runs, three doubles, two stolen bases and 11 RBI during that span. Rotowire.comYesterday, 8:01 pm
Cal Raleigh belted a solo homer and also stole a base on Monday in the Mariners’ loss to the Rays.
Advice: The aptly named “Big Dumper” isn’t exactly known for his stolen base prowess, but he’s flashes strong instincts on the bases throughout his career, and is now up to three thefts on the year. He connected for a fourth-inning solo shot off Rays starter Taj Bradley for his 13th long ball of the year. It was the first time he’s left the yard since June 10, snapping a 12-game homerless drought in the process. RotoworldYesterday, 7:42 pm
Raleigh is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.
Advice: Raleigh will begin Sunday's game in the dugout after going 1-for-8 with one RBI over the first two games of the series. Mitch Garver will start behind home plate and bat seventh against Miami right-hander Kyle Tyler. Rotowire.comSunday, 10:35 am
Cal Raleigh went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against the Marlins on Friday.
Advice: Raleigh often seems to come up with the big hit, but the little hit has been a problem this year, as he’s batted just .198/.276/.380 in 272 plate appearances. The Mariners aren’t going to change much about his usage, but maybe they’ll give him the occasional extra day off and roll with Mitch Garver behind the plate. RotoworldFriday, 9:56 pm
Will Smith is absent from the Dodgers’ starting lineup for Friday night’s opener of their two-game Freeway Series against the Angels in Los Angeles.
Advice: It’s a bit surprising to see the 29-year-old slugger sitting against a left-hander, but there hasn’t been any word yet about Smith dealing with any sort of injury. He did start three of the four games against the Rockies in Colorado, so perhaps it’s just a day of rest. Austin Barnes will do the catching for the Dodgers on Friday night and will bat ninth against Patrick Sandoval and the Angels. RotoworldFriday, 3:37 pm
Smith is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.
Advice: Smith has caught four of the Dodgers' last five games and will give way to Austin Barnes behind the plate Friday. Smith has just two hits in his last 23 at-bats, but the hits were a two-run triple and a solo homer. Rotowire.comFriday, 3:09 pm
Smith went 1-for-5 with a solo home run against Colorado in Thursday's 5-3 victory.
Advice: Smith hit one of three Los Angeles long balls Thursday, bashing a 451-foot solo shot to center field in the fourth inning. It was the catcher's 11th home run of the campaign, which leads NL backstops. Across the majors, only three catchers have more homers than Smith this season, and only two (Adley Rutschman and William Contreras) have topped Smith's 45 RBI. Rotowire.comThursday, 11:29 pm
Will Smith went 1-for-5 with a solo home run against the Rockies on Thursday.
Advice: Back in the two-hole of the batting order with Mookie Betts out, Smith hit a solo shot with two outs off Rockies starter Ty Blach with two outs in the fourth. His home run was his 11th of the season. Smith is hitting .276 with a .829 OPS and 45 RBI on the season. RotoworldThursday, 3:20 pm
Raleigh is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Guardians.
Advice: Raleigh had started in each of the last five games and was behind the plate Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so he'll be given a maintenance day as the Mariners wrap up their series in Cleveland. Mitch Garver will pick up a start at catcher Thursday. Rotowire.comThursday, 7:51 am
