    • Wyatt Langford has two hits, RBI in loss to Mariners
Wyatt Langford drove in a run while going 2-for-4 with a double and a steal in a loss Friday to the Mariners.

Advice: Langford drove in his run in the first with an RBI single to make it 2-0 Rangers. It’d be the last run that Texas would score off Castillo or the Seattle bullpen. Langford has looked the part since returning from injury, and there’s lots of reasons to believe he can be a strong option over the second half of 2024. Rotoworld Friday, 9:39 pm
    • Escapes with save
Diaz allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk Friday while earning a save over Milwaukee.

Advice: Diaz was tasked with protecting a 6-3 lead in the ninth inning and ran into some trouble. He walked in a run after an error loaded the bases and allowed what would've been the game-tying hit if not for Will Benson throwing out Jake Bauers at home. Diaz has converted eight straight saves and 15 of his 17 chances this season. Despite his relative success in those situations, his ERA is up to 5.47 with a lackluster 27:19 K:BB through 26.1 innings. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:14 pm

    • Edwin Díaz finally gets a save
Edwin Díaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Mets to earn the save on Friday against the Padres. He struck out two and stranded a runner on third base.

Advice: Díaz and the Mets really needed this one. You could hear a pin drop in Citi Field when Jurickson Profar led off the inning with a single, but Díaz was able to work around it for his first save in 39 days. He also hit a true 100 MPH for the first time this season as he looks to get back into a groove as the Mets’ closer. Rotoworld Friday, 8:14 pm
    • Kevin Gausman surrenders three runs in loss
Kevin Gausman lost to the Guardians after allowing three runs in 5 1/3 innings on Friday.

Advice: Gausman’s velocity was well down for a second straight start tonight, even though he was working with an extra day off. It’s a definite cause for concern at this point; there’d be much more reason to expect Gausman to bounce back while throwing 94 mph than there is while he’s throwing 92. If there’s reason for optimism, it’s that’s he’s occasionally dealt with fluctuating velocity in the past. Rotoworld Friday, 7:13 pm
    • Sitting Friday
Smith is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Smith will begin Friday's series opener in the dugout after starting in the last two games, going 4-for-7. He's been one of the Rangers' hottest hitters in June, slashing .368/.429/.526 with seven runs, one home run and two RBI. Ezequiel Duran and Davis Wendzel will start at shortstop and third base, respectively, against Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo. Rotowire.com Friday, 4:06 pm

    • Could return Saturday
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Friday that it's a "possibility" Marsh (hamstring) will be activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Marsh will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Reading on Friday, and it sounds like that could be the only rehab game he needs. The outfielder has been sidelined since early June with a strained right hamstring. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:51 pm
    • Brandon Marsh (hamstring) could return on Saturday
Phillies’ manager Rob Thomson told reporters on Friday that there’s a chance Brandon Marsh (hamstring) could return on Saturday.

Advice: They’ll wait and see how he feels after Friday’s minor league rehab game at Double-A Reading, but it sounds like his return is imminent. Marsh has been sidelined since early June due to a right hamstring strain. Rotoworld Friday, 1:46 pm
    • Nabs win in return
Diaz (2-1) struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Thursday to pick up the win over the Marlins.

Advice: The right-hander looked good in his first appearance since May 25, topping out at 99.6 mph with his fastball. Diaz had been on the IL with a shoulder impingement before being activated Thursday, but he hadn't been his usual dominant self even before getting shut down -- so far in 2024 he has a 16.7 percent whiff rate, one of the lowest marks of his career and a massive drop from the 25.2 percent rate he delivered in 2022. While his results were impressive Thursday, Diaz managed only two swinging strikes on 15 pitches, suggesting that he may not be fully back in form yet. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:49 am
    • Two RBI, two steals in win
Langford went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two stolen bases in Thursday's win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Langford drove in two of the Rangers' three runs on the night with RBI singles in the first and third innings while also swiping two bags. It marked the outfielder's third game this month with two RBI and his first multi-steal effort of the campaign. Langford has now hit safely in five of his last six games, going 7-for-22 (.318) over that stretch with four RBI, three stolen bases and two runs scored. Rotowire.com Friday, 7:23 am
