    • Will begin swinging this week
      Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Casas (ribs) will begin swinging a bat this week, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

      Advice: Casas underwent an MRI on Tuesday and is apparently ready to take the next step. He had been lightly swinging a bat but never graduated to swinging with full force.     • Drives in four at Fenway
      Guerrero went 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and four RBI in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Red Sox.

      Advice: He did get charged with two errors, but Guerrero made up for his fielding gaffes with two-run doubles in the third and fourth innings.       Gausman (6-6) picked up the win Tuesday in a 9-4 victory over the Red Sox, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: A Vladimir Guerrero error let Gausman squeak out his seventh quality start of the season, but the rest of the damage off the right-hander came on a Rafael Devers solo shot in the second inning and a two-run blast over the Green Monster by Tyler O'Neill in the sixth. Gausman has been taken deep eight times in his last five outings, a stretch in which he's stumbled to a 4.45 ERA despite a 1.11 WHIP and 28:6 K:BB through 32.1 innings.     • Vlad Jr. has four RBI in win over Red Sox
      Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-5 with four RBI in a win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.

      Advice: Vlad Jr. drove in two on a double in the third inning and then drove in two more on another double in the fourth inning. He now has 40 RBI on the season and has been far and away the Blue Jays’ best hitter this season. He also made two bad errors in the field, but that doesn’t count for most fantasy leagues.     • Gausman has quality start against Red Sox
      Kevin Gausman allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits in six innings in a win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.

      Advice: Gausman struck out five and walked one on the day but did allow two home runs, which accounted for all but one of the runs scored against him. The 33-year-old’s fastball averaged 94 mph on the day, which is up from his season average and he got seven whiffs on 24 swings on that pitch. However, he was only able to get 10 whiffs overall on the day for a 20 percent whiff rate and 25 percent CSW. He had just a 38 percent zone rate on the splitter, and he’s been struggling to get whiffs on that pitch over the last few starts. That’s a bit of a concern because the fastball isn’t good enough to carry him if the splitter whiffs don’t come back. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:00 pm
       
    • M’s lose Bryan Woo to IL with hamstring strain
      Mariners placed RHP Bryan Woo on the 15-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.

      Advice: Woo has been phenomenal this season for Seattle, registering a microscopic 1.77 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 28/3 K/BB ratio across 40 2/3 innings (eight starts), but has struggled to stay healthy. The 24-year-old righty was lifted from the fourth inning of Monday’s start against the Rays with a right hamstring tightness, and a subsequent MRI revealed a low-grade strain. He’s going to miss at least a couple weeks, even with this being arguably the best-case scenario outcome. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:38 pm

    • Lands on IL with strained hamstring
      The Mariners placed Woo on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a right hamstring strain, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

      Advice: It's being classified as a low-grade strain, so perhaps Woo has a chance to return when his 15 days are up or shortly after. Emerson Hancock would normally be the obvious candidate to step into the Mariners' rotation in Woo's place, but his status is unclear after he exited his last start at Triple-A Tacoma with lower-back tightness. Jhonathan Diaz, who's struggled at the big-league level this season (5.06 ERA, 1.88 WHIP) but has an 8-1 record and 3.26 ERA at Tacoma, is another candidate. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:38 pm
