    • Day off Saturday
Marte is not in the lineup for Saturday's contest against the Padres.

Advice: Marte was in the lineup for each of the previous four tilts, but he will receive a day of rest Saturday. DJ Stewart is handling right field for the Mets in this one. Rotowire.com 44 minutes ago

    • Goes on paternity leave
The Guardians placed Ramirez on the paternity leave list Saturday.

Advice: Ramirez will likely miss his team's remaining two games this weekend in Toronto before rejoining them for the start of a homestand Tuesday following Monday's scheduled off day. Johnathan Rodriguez is taking Ramirez's roster spot and Daniel Schneemann is getting a start at third base Saturday versus the Blue Jays. Rotowire.com Today, 9:25 am

    • Guardians place José Ramírez on paternity list
Guardians placed 3B José Ramírez on the paternity list.

Advice: Ramírez will miss the remainder of Cleveland’s weekend series in Toronto to be with his wife for the birth of their second child. It’ll be Johnathan Rodriguez coming up to take his active roster spot. The 31-year-old fantasy superstar, who holds a sublime .864 OPS with 18 homers and 11 steals in 291 plate appearances over 66 games this season, should be back from paternity leave early next week. • Freddie Freeman drives in go-ahead run in eighth
Freddie Freeman singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to give the Dodgers a 4-3 win over the Royals on Friday.

Advice: With the score tied at 3-3, Freeman drove in a run with an RBI single to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead and ultimately the victory. The 34-year-old has now driven in 42 runs, and nine of those have come in the first half of June. To the surprise of absolutely no one, Freeman remains one of the best first baseman — and hitters regardless of position — in the sport. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:19 pm

    • Jose Altuve doubles twice as Astros defeat Tigers
Jose Altuve went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a run scored on Friday evening, helping to lead the Astros past the Tigers.

Advice: Altuve got a rally started with a leadoff double off of Tarik Skubal to begin the sixth inning. He then scored the game’s first run on Alex Bregman’s ensuing RBI triple. Altuve also drew a walk in the ballgame, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. With his two-hit attack, the 34-year-old second baseman is now slashing an outstanding .298/.349/.453 to go along with 10 homers, 26 RBI and nine stolen bases on the season. • Hunter Brown dominates in victory over Tigers
Hunter Brown delivered a dominant performance in Friday night’s victory over the Tigers, racking up nine strikeouts over seven innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander didn’t walk a batter on the night and all five of the hits that he allowed were singles. Brown generated 15 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the night — four or more on each of his sinker, cutter and slider — while registering a strong CSW of 34 percent. He’ll look to replicate this fine performance as he carries a 5.00 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and a 76/29 K/BB ratio (68 1/3 innings) into Thursday’s showdown against the White Sox in Chicago. • Stymies Tigers in victory
Brown (3-5) earned the win Friday against Detroit, allowing five hits and no walks over seven scoreless innings. He struck out nine.

Advice: Brown entered this evening on a hot streak, firing a 2.25 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 26:8 K:BB in 24 innings over his last four starts. He kept that stellar work rolling, generating 15 whiffs en route to nine punchouts, equaling his season-high strikeout mark in a game also reached May 28. The Houston right-hander has been an ace-level pitcher since May 1, going 3-1 with a 2.58 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 52:15 K:BB in 45.1 innings over seven starts. Brown is slated to face the White Sox on the road in his next outing. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:04 pm
    • Receiving Friday off
Jeffers is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Oakland.

Advice: Jeffers has yet to make consecutive starts behind the plate this season, and his playing time has slipped lately as he hasn't made a start at designated hitter since June 1. It's been a rough month so far for the 27-year-old, who has gone 3-for-30 through nine contests. Christian Vazquez will step in behind the plate Friday to catch for Simeon Woods Richardson. • Blows save chance Thursday
Kopech (2-6) blew a save but earned the win over the Mariners on Thursday, allowing one run on one hit while striking out two batters over one inning.

Advice: Kopech was summoned in the ninth inning to try to protect a one-run Chicago lead but served up a one-out, game-tying solo shot to Julio Rodriguez. To his credit, Kopech bounced back to retire the next two batters and send the game to extra frames, and he was credited with a win as a result of the White Sox pushing across a run in the 10th. Kopech hasn't been very effective in a closing role for Chicago -- he hasn't notched a save since May 15 and is just 5-for-9 in save opportunities this season. He has a 4.91 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 29.1 innings, though his 13.2 K/9 is characteristic of what most teams look for from a closer. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:08 am
