      Muncy (oblique) has begun taking dry swings and doing plyo-ball workouts, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

      Advice: This is a step forward for Muncy, as he had previously been unable to swing a bat at all after continuing to experience soreness in his oblique. However, manager Dave Roberts said last week that the third baseman is on a "slow program," so Muncy doesn't appear to be particularly close to a return.     • Goes four frames in rehab start
      Miller (shoulder) tossed four-plus innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out two batters.

      Advice: This was Miller's third minor-league rehab appearance, and he's gradually worked up from three frames in his first rehab outing to four innings Friday. The righty hurler wasn't at his sharpest, but he approached a full workload with 85 pitches and sat at 97-98 mph with his fastball, per Eric Stephen of SBNation.com, after experiencing reduced velocity in his prior outing. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said prior to Miller's outing Friday that it could be the pitcher's final minor-league appearance before returning to the big club, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, but a decision on Miller's next step has not yet been announced.       De La Cruz went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 3-2 win over the Cubs.

      Advice: The 22-year-old also struck out twice, and his 31.7 percent strikeout rate on the season has caught up with him -- De La Cruz is slashing .205/.286/.318 since the beginning of May with only three homers in 34 games. He continues to do damage when he is able to get on base however, and De La Cruz's 33 steals on the season leads the league by a healthy margin, as the Brewers' Brice Turang sits in second place with 22.       Bobby Miller (shoulder) allowed two runs (one earned) over four innings on Friday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

      Advice: The positive news here for fantasy managers is that Miller averaged 97.4 mph on his four-seam fastball in this one and was able to generate nine swinging strikes, nearly all of them on his secondary offerings. He struck out two and also issued a pair of walks, needing 85 pitches (50 strikes) to get through four-plus frames.     • Vierling on base twice in loss Friday
      Matt Vierling went 1-for-3 with a walk against the Brewers on Friday.

      Advice: It was a quiet night for the Tigers offense as they were shutout and managed only two hits. Still, Vierling got on base twice out of the leadoff spot. His average is up to .282 with a .794 OPS on the season. Obviously, he’s not going to put up big time run totals given the state of Detroit’s offense, but he’s been a viable option even in mixed leagues so far this season.       De La Cruz went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run Thursday in an 8-4 victory against the Cubs.

      Advice: De La Cruz, on the one-year anniversary of his MLB debut, turned a two-run Reds deficit into a one-run lead with a three-run blast in the third frame. The long ball was his second in three contests following a season-long 21-game homer drought. After tallying 13 homers and 35 steals over 98 games as a rookie last season, De La Cruz is nearing those marks with 11 long balls and 32 thefts through 63 contests in 2024.       Holmes earned a save against the Twins on Thursday, allowing one hit and striking out one batter in a scoreless inning.

      Advice: Holmes gave up a one-out single after entering the game in the ninth frame, but that's all Minnesota managed against him.       Advice: Doyle's only involvement Wednesday was as a pinch runner, and he was caught stealing. He checked back into the lineup and swiped two bags Thursday, giving him 16 thefts on 19 attempts this season with his first successful steals since May 26. The outfielder continues to put together a decent season with a .265/.339/.408 slash line, five home runs, 16 RBI, 37 runs scored, 11 doubles and two triples over 239 plate appearances.
