• Angels activate Brandon Drury from injured list
Angels activated INF Brandon Drury from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Cole Tucker was dropped to make room. Drury missed 5 1/2 weeks with a strained left hamstring. He was hitting only .173/.230/.240 in 113 plate appearances before going down, and Angels manager Ron Washington said over the weekend that he’d be benched if he didn’t produce pretty quickly after coming off the IL. Expect him to get regular playing time for now between second base and DH. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

  • Returns from injured list
The Angels activated Drury (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Drury wound up being sidelined for nearly six weeks of action with a left hamstring strain but is ready to roll after playing six rehab games. Most of Drury's starts with the Angels will probably come at second base, but first base, third base and designated hitter are options, as well. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago

  • Getting rest against lefty
Smith is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: With southpaw Yusei Kikuchi taking the hill for Toronto, the lefty-hitting Smith will give way to Bobby Dalbec at first base. Expect the two to form a platoon at the position until Triston Casas (ribs) returns from the 10-day injured list, perhaps shortly before the All-Star break. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago

  • Reds’ Christian Encarnacion-Strand to 60-day IL
Reds transferred 3B Christian Encarnacion-Strand from the 10-day to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: There still hasn’t been any word on whether CES will opt for season-ending surgery on his right hand. This officially rules him out until July 7, but there was no chance of him returning prior to the break anyway. Rotoworld Today, 1:11 pm
  • Shifts to 60-day IL
The Reds transferred Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand had been on the IL since May 8 with a right ulnar styloid fracture and wasn't expected to begin a rehab assignment anytime soon, so the move to the 60-day IL won't affect his eventual timeline for a return. According to Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer, manager David Bell reiterated Monday that Encarnacion-Strand remains in a bit of a holding pattern in his recovery from the injury. After he had been expected to increase his activity earlier this month, Encarnacion-Strand's rehab progression was put on pause when he sought a second opinion on his wrist from a specialist, who determined that the 24-year-old was dealing with ligament damage. Bell said that the Reds will wait a few more days to see how Encarnacion-Strand's wrist responds to rest before a determination is made on his next step, which could include anything from resuming baseball activities to going under the knife for season-ending surgery. • Exiting lineup Monday
Horwitz is out of the lineup for Monday's game versus the Red Sox.

Advice: Horwitz had started each of the last seven games versus right-handers upon his promotion from Triple-A Buffalo on June 7 and batted either first or second in all of those contests, but he will begin Monday's series opener on the bench. Davis Schneider gets the call at second base and will serve as the Blue Jays' leadoff batter against Red Sox right-hander Nick Pivetta. Rotowire.com Today, 12:43 pm
  • Back on bench against righty
Rivera is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Rivera will hit the bench after starting in all three games of the Marlins' weekend series in Washington, going 1-for-9 with a double and run scored across those contests. The Nationals brought left-handed starters to the hill for each of those games, so Rivera still looks to be a short-side platoon player for Marlins rather than someone who's pushing for an everyday role. • Clubs 10th homer
Freeman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 3-0 victory versus the Royals.

Advice: Freeman reached double-digit homers on the campaign with his sixth-inning solo blast. The veteran first baseman has begun to pick up the pace in terms of power, going deep four times in 14 contests in June after coming into the month with just six long balls across 59 games. Freeman's pair of hits Sunday also lifted his average back up to .300 -- he's slashing .300/.401/.502 in 319 plate appearances on the season. Rotowire.com Today, 11:46 am
  • Taking seat versus lefty
Burleson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: After starting in each of the Cardinals' last 29 games, Burleson will finally get a break in the series opener in Miami. With southpaw Braxton Garrett on the bump for Miami, Cardinals skipper Oliver Marmol likely viewed it as an opportune time to give the lefty-hitting Burleson a day off. Dylan Carlson will step in for Burleson in right field. Rotowire.com Today, 11:42 am
