• Soroka fades in 6th inning in no decision
Michael Soroka allowed two runs on four hits in five innings in a no-decision against the Twins.

Advice: Soroka had thrown five shutout innings and allowed just two hits but he gave up back-to-back solo home runs to start the sixth inning before getting lifted from the game. The bigger concern here is that Soroka failed to register a single whiff in this game. The Twins swung at 24 pitches and not once did they whiff. That’s a major concern. Pair that with his fastball falling 1.5 mph down to just 91.2 mph and it’s hard to recommend rostering him in most formats right now, even if he does get a date with these Twins again next week. • Locks down eighth save
Clase earned the save Thursday against the Red Sox, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: It's the fifth straight scoreless outing from Clase -- he's allowed just one hit while striking out eight in his last five innings. Overall, the right-hander is 8-for-10 in save chances this year with a stellar 0.69 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 14:1 K:BB over 13 innings. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago
  • Woods-Richardson solid in spot start vs CWS
Simeon Woods-Richardson allowed two runs on seven hits in five innings in a no-decision against the White Sox, striking out six and walking one.

Advice: Obviously, the seven hits are not ideal and Woods-Richardson allowed six hard-hit baseballs in his five innings of work, but he also posted a solid 20 percent whiff rate and pounded the zone with his four-seam and changeup. His slider also posted a 33 percent whiff rate which showcases a deep enough arsenal to last as a starter. The bigger concern is that he got almost no called strikes and most of the pitches he threw on the edge of the strike zone or just off the plate were fouled off, which suggests a lack of deception or true swing-and-miss stuff. The 23-year-old has produced solid surface-level stats through his two starts and is set up for another start against the White Sox next week, so he could be worth grabbing in deeper formats. • Goes four innings vs. Red Sox
McKenzie did not factor into the decision Thursday against Boston, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: McKenzie had to deal with traffic throughout Thursday's outing, though he was ultimately able to mitigate the damage thanks to a season-high seven strikeouts. He'd fail to qualify for a win, however, only making it through four innings after throwing 75 pitches, as Cleveland continues to monitor the 26-year-old's workload after he made just four starts in an injury-plagued 2023 campaign. Overall, McKenzie is 2-2 with a 4.91 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 18:17 K:BB through four starts (22 innings) this season. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Astros in his next start Wednesday. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • Clase locks down 8th save of the season
Emmanuel Clase threw a scoreless ninth inning in a 6-4 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Clase struck out one and didn’t allow a baserunner in his one inning of work. He now has eight saves and a 0.69 ERA on the season. Considering how well the Guardians have been playing but that their offense doesn’t usually blow opponents out, Clase should be in line for quite a few save opportunities this season. • Struggles in first start
Anderson (0-1) took the loss Thursday against the Guardians, allowing five runs on three hits and three walks over 1.2 innings. He didn't record a strikeout.

Advice: After working his way out of trouble in the first inning, Anderson allowed a solo home run to Will Brennan in the second before Jose Ramirez launched a grand slam with two outs in the frame. The 36-year-old Anderson opened the year in Boston's bullpen, though he was thrust back into the rotation with injuries to Brayan Bello (lat), Nick Pivetta (elbow) and Garrett Whitlock (oblique). While Thursday's outing certainly wasn't encouraging, the Red Sox may need Anderson to make at least one more start until other starters are healthy. He's currently slated for a home matchup Wednesday against the Giants. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

  • Framber Valdez to start Sunday in Mexico City
Framber Valdez (elbow) will start on Sunday against the Rockies in Mexico City.

Advice: Astros manager Joe Espada confirmed Thursday that Valdez will return this weekend after spending just over two weeks on the shelf with left elbow inflammation. The 30-year-old southpaw completed a 40-pitch bullpen session earlier this week and figures to have some workload limitations this weekend in Mexico City’s extremely hitter-friendly high-altitude environment. His return will provide Houston’s injury-depleted starting rotation with a significant lift, but he’s probably best left on the bench this weekend for fantasy purposes. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago
  • Max Scherzer (back) will make another rehab start
Max Scherzer (back) will make his next minor league rehab start on Tuesday for Double-A Frisco.

Advice: Scherzer threw 52 pitches (32 strikes) and allowed three runs over 2 1/3 innings on Wednesday in his first rehab outing for Triple-A Round Rock. It doesn’t come as a total shock that the 39-year-old veteran looked a bit shaky in his first start since offseason back surgery, and he’ll get at least one additional rehab tune-up prior to returning to the Rangers’ starting rotation mix in early May. • McKenzie has mini bounceback vs Red Sox
Triston McKenzie allowed two runs on six hits in four innings in a no-decision against the Red Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Six hits in four innings isn’t great, but McKenzie did strike out seven batters and walk just two. However, McKenzie’s fastball still averaged just 91 mph which is not what we want to see. He was able to get whiffs on it against a depleted Red Sox lineup that was without Triston Casas, Tyler O’Neill, and Masataka Yoshida, but it’s hard to feel overly confident since McKenzie was not able to find the strike zone with his curve on Thursday either. His ERA now sits at 4.91 on the season, and he’s not a recommended start next week in Houston. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago
