      Advice: Jansen took over in the top of the ninth with the game tied, but fell to his first loss of the campaign. After striking out Josh Lowe to start off the inning, Jansen yielded a walk, two singles and a sacrifice fly to consecutive batters as the Rays took a 7-5 advantage and the eventual win.       Alonso went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run during Thursday's 6-5 win over the Phillies.

      Alvarado (1-2) took the loss during Thursday's 11-inning 6-5 loss to the Mets, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and no walks across one inning. He struck out two.

      Advice: Alvarado didn't take the mound until the 11th frame, when the score was knotted up at four, and ended up with the loss. He allowed a single to JD Martinez to open up the inning -- scoring designated runner Francisco Lindor -- before Harrison Bader doubled to put two runners aboard. Alvarado managed to retire the next three batters he faced; however, Martinez crossed home plate on a wild pitch to put the Mets up two.       Pete Alonso went 1-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and a solo home run against the Phillies on Thursday.



      Advice: The homer was Alonso’s 10th of the season. He’s probably having his worst season of his career so far. Still, Alonso is one of the most reliable players in fantasy baseball and we’ll almost certainly still be looking at close to 40 home runs and 100 RBI from him at the end of the season.

      Schmidt (5-1) earned the win Thursday against Minnesota, allowing three hits and no walks across eight scoreless innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Schmidt hasn't allowed a run in 15.2 consecutive innings, dating back to his May 4 start against Detroit. The 28-year-old was utterly dominant Thursday, setting a season high in punchouts while tying his season low in hits allowed. Schmidt is well on his way to a career year -- owning a 2.49 ERA in 50.2 innings -- as a back-end starter in one of baseball's best rotations.       Clarke Schmidt matched a career-high with eight strikeouts over eight scoreless innings on Thursday in a win over the Twins.

      Advice: Schmidt authored the strongest start of his career during Thursday afternoon’s matinee at Target Field, completing seven innings for the first time in his career, while also scattering three hits and needing just 103 pitches (69 strikes) to navigate eight nearly-flawless frames. He generated 16 swinging strikes, including 10 on his cutter alone, finishing with a robust 34 percent CSW. The 28-year-old righty has been a revelation this season for fantasy managers as a late-round steal in deeper mixed leagues.     • Pete Alonso hitting 2nd for Mets
      Pete Alonso will hit second for the Mets on Thursday against the Phillies

      Advice: This is the second straight start for Alonso in the second spot in the order, while Starling Marte moves down the sixth. Carlos Mendoza is clearly trying to jumpstart this Mets offense, and he was with the Yankees as a coach when they hit Aaron Judge second in the lineup, so perhaps he’s trying to recapture some of that magic. Alonso has just a .306 on-base percentage this year, which is the lowest of his career and his RBI opportunities will take a hit with the move out of the cleanup spot, so it’s unclear if this is a great decision.       De La Cruz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Tigers.

      Advice: De La Cruz crushed a two-run, 422-foot homer off Casey Mize in the first inning Wednesday for the only runs scored in the Marlins' shutout victory. De La Cruz has gone just 4-for-24 in his last six games, though he's already up to nine home runs on the season, nearly halfway to the career-high 19 he hit last year.
