    • Homers in return
Pasquantino went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 7-6 loss to the Twins.

Advice: Pasquantino missed Wednesday's game due to a shin injury, but his absence wasn't a long one. He served as the designated hitter Thursday, but it shouldn't be long before he's back at first base. The 26-year-old's homer was his first since May 9, which was also the date of his previous multi-hit effort. Pasquantino is slashing just .229/.309/.404 with six homers, 35 RBI, 26 runs scored, 13 doubles and a triple over 220 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:44 pm
    • Masataka Yoshida (thumb) starts hitting progression
Masataka Yoshida (thumb) began taking swings off a tee earlier this week.

Advice: Yoshida was able to avoid surgery on his left thumb, but has been completely shut down from hitting for the last few weeks. The 30-year-old is going to need plenty of time to ramp-up his hitting progression, so fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back for at least a few weeks, if not longer. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:04 pm

    • Pasquantino homers Thursday in return to lineup
Vinnie Pasquantino went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run on Thursday against the Twins.

Advice: Pasquantino went deep for the sixth time this season following a one-game absence recovering from a left leg injury that he suffered earlier this week. He’s hitting just .229 with a .234 BABIP this year. Pasquantino’s career BABIP is .267 and with better luck on balls in play we should expect him to hit at least .260 over the course of the rest of the season. Even with his poor average and only six home runs, he’s been able to drive in runs as he’s now up to 35 RBI on the year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:14 pm
    • Sitting Thursday
McCormick isn't in the Astros' lineup for Thursday's game against Seattle, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: McCormick had sat out three games in a row before returning to Houston's lineup Wednesday, but an 0-for-4 performance will put him back on the bench for Thursday's series finale. Yordan Alvarez, Jake Meyers and Mauricio Dubon will start across the outfield while McCormick sits. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:37 am

    • Not starting Thursday
Diaz isn't in the Astros' lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Diaz has slashed just .207/.221/.268 since the beginning of May, and he'll now sit down for the final game of Houston's series in Seattle. Victor Caratini will take over behind the plate and bat seventh. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:31 am

    • Aiming to return Tuesday
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Thursday that Lowe (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham this weekend and hopes to be activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday versus the Marlins, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: Last week, Lowe made his second trip to the IL this season with a right oblique strain. The strain was deemed mild, allowing him to resume baseball activities ahead of this weekend's rehab assignment. If Lowe does indeed return Tuesday, he will have missed just a little more than the minimum 10 days. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:23 am

    • Josh Lowe could return to Rays lineup on Tuesday
Josh Lowe (oblique) will play for Triple-A Durham this weekend as he nears a return.

Advice: The plan is for Lowe to play all weekend with Durham and, if all feels good, he could return to the Tampa Bay lineup on Tuesday against the Marlins. Lowe has now had three setbacks this season with his oblique, but the last imaging he had showed no major issues and both he and the Rays have expressed optimism that he will return next week. • Draws back into lineup
Pasquantino (shin) will start at designated hitter and will bat third in Thursday's game against the Twins.

Advice: After exiting early in Tuesday's 4-2 loss when Byron Buxton's knee collided with his left shin, Pasquantino sat out Wednesday's 6-1 win. The day off appears to be all Pasquantino needed for the pain in his lower leg to subside, so he'll rejoin the starting nine in a non-defensive role for the series finale. Salvador Perez will get a day off behind the plate and will start at Pasquantino's usual spot at first base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:10 am
    • To begin swinging bat
Yoshida (thumb) is set to begin swinging a bat in the upcoming days, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: This is the first real sign that Yoshida is working his way back to playing again. He was placed on the injured list May 1 and spent most of the month shut down from baseball activities. When he does begin swinging, Yoshida will wear a hand guard over the injured thumb.
