    • Craig Kimbrel nabs 13th save
Craig Kimbrel struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning in a win over the Rays on Friday.

Advice: Kimbrel’s fantastic season continued Friday with an overpowering ninth inning. The save tied him with Raisel Iglesias for the sixth-most in the league as he’s turned black the clock so far this year. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago
    • Tanner Bibee blazes past Nationals for win
Tanner Bibee allowed one earned run across 6 ⅓ innings in a 7-1 win over the Nationals on Friday. He struck out seven and walked one.

Advice: This was a tremendous start for Bibee mostly fueled by increased fastball velocity. His heater ticked up to 98 MPH and averaged 95.5 MPH, but tailed off in the seventh inning as the Nationals started to get around on him. This was the second time in three starts Bibee’s fastball averaged at least 95.5 MPH and keeping the velocity on that pitch up is the key to his success. Rotoworld Today, 6:40 pm

    • Alexis Díaz nearly blows save versus Cubs
Alexis Díaz escaped with his 11th save after giving up a run in the ninth Friday against the Reds.

Advice: Díaz got lucky when a pitch that hit both Nick Madigal’s hand and the knob of his bat was ruled a foul ball and was then fortunate again when Madrigal, as the tying run, was thrown out at home plate trying to score on Seiya Suzuki’s double. Díaz has a 5.91 ERA this season. He’s walked 15 and hit three batters in 21 1/3 innings. He’s simply not worthy of trust right now, but since he’s blown only two saves and the Reds don’t have anyone else they’re really wanting to turn to, he’ll probably remain in the closer’s role for now. Lucas Sims is likely still second in line, even if Fernando Cruz is the more interesting reliever these days. Rotoworld Today, 2:40 pm
    • Walks tightrope for 11th save
Diaz earned the save Friday against the Cubs despite allowing a run on two hits in a walk in the ninth inning.

Advice: Diaz allowed the first two baserunners to reach safely before surrendering a one-out double to Seiya Suzuki. While one run scored on the play, Jacob Hurtubise would throw out Nick Madrigal at the plate as the tying run before Diaz got Cody Bellinger to fly out, sealing a 5-4 victory. While it didn't come easy for Diaz on Friday, he's now converted four straight save opportunities while allowing just one earned run in his last 5.2 innings. Diaz's ERA still sits at an uninspiring 5.91 with a 1.55 WHP and 22:15 K:BB across 21.1 innings this year. He's converted 11 of 13 save chances overall. Rotowire.com Today, 2:40 pm
    • Kerry Carpenter dealing with lumbar spine fracture
The Tigers announced Friday that Kerry Carpenter is dealing with a lumbar spine fracture — not just inflammation as previously announced.

Advice: No word yet on an updated timeline, but there are rumblings that the 26-year-old slugger is going to miss at least a couple of months. That would be a devastating blow to the middle of the Tigers’ lineup, as Carpenter as been the team’s best hitter through the first two months of the season. Rotoworld Today, 2:01 pm

    • Has stress fracture in back
Carpenter has been diagnosed with a lumbar spine stress fracture, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Carpenter was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier this week with what was called lumbar spine inflammation, but further testing appears to have revealed a more significant injury. The Tigers have not divulged a potential timetable for Carpenter's return, but his absence could be a lengthy one. Akil Baddoo should continue to see his playing time rise while Carpenter is on the shelf. Rotowire.com Today, 2:00 pm

    • Scheduled for BP
Manager Alex Cora said Friday that Yoshida (thumb) is expected to take batting practice Saturday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Yoshida began hitting off a tee Friday and will take his next step toward returning from a strained left thumb. A timetable for return has yet to be established, but Yoshida seems to be well on his way to reinstatement. Rotowire.com Today, 1:18 pm

    • Logs 20th steal
Caballero went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts, two runs scored and a stolen base Thursday against the Athletics.

Advice: This line is indicative of Caballero's skill set, as he's striking out at a 29.3 percent clip and has just a .306 on-base percentage. However, he has already racked up 20 stolen bases, only the second player to hit that mark at this point in the campaign. Caballero's playing time could be in danger upon the return of Taylor Walls (hip), but for now, he fills a key role for both the Rays and fantasy managers. Rotowire.com Today, 7:34 am

    • Hitting off tee
Yoshida (thumb) began swinging off a tee Thursday, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: As noted Wednesday, manager Alex Cora said Yoshida will wear a guard on the thumb to protect the area of the injury. His return from the injured list is dependent on how Yoshida feels as he progresses. Rotowire.com Today, 5:11 am
