    • Wilyer Abreu (ankle) sprinting at full speed
Red Sox’ manager Alex Cora told reporters on Saturday that Wilyer Abreu (ankle) is now sprinting at full speed.

Advice: The 24-year-old outfielder is expected to be ready for a minor league rehab assignment early next week, and should only need a couple of games to get his timing back before he’s ready to rejoin the Red Sox’ lineup. Before landing on the injured list in early June, Abreu had been hitting .272/.344/.485 with six homers, 22 RBI and seven stolen bases through his first 189 plate appearances. • Placed on paternity list
Heim was placed on the paternity list Saturday.

Advice: Heim will be away from the team for up to three days as he is with his family for the birth of his third child. In the meantime, fellow catcher Sam Huff was called up from Triple-A Round Rock to replace him on the major-league roster. Rotowire.com Today, 1:12 pm

Rangers placed C Jonah Heim on the paternity list.

Advice: The hard-hitting 28-year-old backstop will be away from the team for a few days to welcome a new addition to his family. Sam Huff was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock and will help share the load behind the plate while Heim is away. Rotoworld Today, 1:04 pm

    • Secures sixth save
Diaz gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his sixth save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Padres.

Advice: A leadoff single by Jurickson Profar and a stolen base by pinch runner Jose Azocar created another nervous ninth for the Mets, but Diaz buckled down after that and fanned Manny Machado and Jake Cronenworth to preserve the win. Diaz's velocity appears to be all the way back -- his fastest pitch Friday hit 100 mph -- and he's looked to be in just about peak form in two appearances since recovering from a shoulder impingement. The 30-year-old right-hander is just 6-for-10 in converting save chances in 2024, but as long as he's healthy he should be locked in as the Mets' closer. Rotowire.com Today, 7:52 am
    • Quality start against O's
Suarez came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-3 extra-innings win over the Orioles, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The southpaw delivered his ninth quality start of the season on 88 pitches (57 strikes), but Suarez was denied his 11th win in a wild affair that saw half the game's runs cross the plate after the ninth inning. Since his nine-start win streak ended in late May, the 28-year-old has posted a 3.10 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB through 20.1 innings over four outings. Suarez's next scheduled trip to the mound is a home tilt next week against the Padres. Rotowire.com Today, 6:55 am
    • Ranger Suárez allows just one run against Orioles
Ranger Suárez scattered six hits across 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision on Friday against the Orioles. He struck out six, walked two, and allowed one earned run.

Advice: Relative to the rest of his season, this was a difficult start for Suárez and he still allowed just one run against one of the best offenses in baseball. He kept the ball down, mixed all five of his pitches, and hit his spots when he needed to. Especially tough on lefties, he made Gunnar Henderson look as frustrated as he’s been all season with two nasty punch outs. Suárez’s Cy Young campaign will march on next week against the Padres. • Edwin Díaz finally gets a save
Edwin Díaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Mets to earn the save on Friday against the Padres. He struck out two and stranded a runner on third base.

Advice: Díaz and the Mets really needed this one. You could hear a pin drop in Citi Field when Jurickson Profar led off the inning with a single, but Díaz was able to work around it for his first save in 39 days. He also hit a true 100 MPH for the first time this season as he looks to get back into a groove as the Mets’ closer. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:14 pm
    • Notches save Friday
Iglesias recorded one out to earn a save over the Rays on Friday.

Advice: Iglesias came into the game with two runners on base and two outs. He quickly finished the 7-3 win with just three pitches. He's now converted 10 straight saves and is 18 for 20 in save chances this season. Iglesias is sporting a 2.10 ERA with a 17:5 K:BB. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:11 pm
    • Raisel Iglesias grabs 18th save
Raisel Iglesias got one out on three pitches to earn the save on Friday night in the Braves’ win over the Rays.

Advice: Iglesias was called upon after Dylan Lee got into trouble in the ninth inning and earned the save after throwing just three pitches. It’s been a bizarre season for Iglesias with a 2.10 ERA and just a 16.9 K%. Beware of possible regression coming. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:05 pm
