      Advice: While Thursday's outing wasn't as dominant as Skene's 11-strikeout performance in his last start, the rookie right-hander was still effective, coaxing a pair of key double-play balls to limit the Giants to just one run. However, the Pirates bullpen would implode late, leaving Skenes with a no-decision in an eventual 7-6 loss. Skenes now sports a 2.25 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP and an impressive 21:4 K:BB through his first three starts (16 innings). He's currently in line for a road matchup with the Tigers in his next outing.       Paul Skenes allowed one run over six innings with three strikeouts, but didn’t factor into the decision against the Giants on Thursday.

      Advice: Skenes allowed six hits and one walk. The right-hander didn’t have his best swing-and-miss stuff, and he did deal with some traffic; something he didn’t deal with at all in his six no-hit innings Friday against the Cubs. Even still, the 21-year-old was impressive again, and he now has a 2.25 ERA and a 21/4 K/BB over three starts. Next up for Skenes is a start against the Tigers on Wednesday.       Luzardo (2-3) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing three hits and no walks with four strikeouts across eight scoreless innings against the Brewers.

      Advice: Luzardo completed eight innings for the first time in his career, blanking Milwaukee in dominant fashion. All three hits allowed were singles and he didn't issue a walk for a second straight start. The southpaw retired 17 consecutive batters during the start, spanning the second to the eighth inning. He's been excellent in three starts since coming off the IL, owning a 0.92 ERA and a 19:1 K:BB over 19.2 innings. He'll look to keep the ball rolling Tuesday against the Padres.       Advice: The rookie delivered a fourth consecutive quality start Wednesday and generated a double play in three separate innings to keep the Giants from putting a runner in scoring position until the fifth frame. In that fifth inning, Jones allowed a double and an RBI single to the first two batters he faced, then he surrendered a two-run homer to Matt Chapman in the sixth. Jones is one quality start shy of the league lead and holds a 3.05 ERA with a 68:10 K:BB across 59.0 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Tigers in Detroit on Tuesday.       Advice: The 22-year-old punched out five batters on the evening while allowing three walks. The Giants didn’t break through against him until Jorge Soler smacked an RBI single in the fifth inning. He then served up a two-run bomb to Matt Chapman in the sixth. Jones generated 16 swings and misses on 93 pitches on the night — seven of those on his slider — while registering a strong CSW of 32 percent.       Jesús Luzardo pitched eight strong innings allowing just three hits and no earned runs in a 1-0 win over the Brewers on Wednesday. He struck out four and walked none.

      Advice: For the second straight start, Luzardo was tremendous despite falling fastball velocity. His fastball averaged 94.1 MPH on Wednesday, down nearly two ticks off this year’s average and three from last season. Still, his fastball, changeup, and slider each induced six whiffs while the changeup was especially tough on right-handed batters.
