    • Throws bullpen session
Diaz (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Diaz threw 21 pitches during his mound session, and manager Carlos Mendoza said afterward that there is a good chance the 30-year-old reliever begins a rehab assignment in the minors Thursday. It's unclear how many minor-league reps the Mets will give their star closer, but the fact Diaz is already able to begin an assignment likely signals that he will only require a minimum-length stint on the IL. • Moved to 60-day IL
The Athletics transferred Blackburn (foot) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Blackburn landed on the injured list May 13 following a stress reaction in his right foot, and his move to the 60-day IL makes it more than likely he remains sidelined through the All-Star break. The 30-year-old righty has been in a walking boot for the past several weeks but is slated to be re-evaluated by the A's during their current homestand. Once the team is able to take a closer look at him, plans for a throwing program may begin to form. Rotowire.com 20 minutes ago

    • Edwin Díaz to start rehab assignment this week
Edwin Díaz (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday.

Advice: Díaz threw a bullpen session on Tuesday without any issues and the Mets are hoping to have one of their primary closing options back on June 11, when first eligible to return. The electrifying 30-year-old righty hit the injured list back in late May with a right shoulder impingement. He’s struggled this season, but remains arguably the best option for New York manager Carlos Mendoza moving forward over Adam Ottavino, Jake Diekman and Reed Garrett. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago

    • A’s transfer Paul Blackburn to 60-day IL
Athletics transferred RHP Paul Blackburn to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The procedural move opens up a spot on Oakland’s 40-man roster. Blackburn hit the injured list back in mid-May with a stress reaction in his right foot and is going to be out until sometime in mid-July. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago

    • To miss at least a month
Manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Carter (back) will be out for at least a month, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Carter was placed on the 10-day IL on May 28 with lower back tightness. However, as Bochy notes, the injury is worse than initially thought and is being considered a "stress reaction". It seems as though Carter will have to start from square one and will probably require a handful of rehab outings before being able to return. In the meantime, Watt Langford and Ezequiel Duran should handle most of the work in left field. Rotowire.com 45 minutes ago

    • Evan Carter to miss one month with back injury
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters Tuesday that Evan Carter will miss at least one month with a stress reaction in his back.

Advice: Not great. Bochy added that Carter isn’t dealing with a stress fracture, which would’ve required a much lengthier absence, but he’s facing a lengthier absence than originally anticipated when he hit the injured list last week with a back sprain. The 21-year-old top prospect is likely going to be on the shelf until sometime after next month’s All-Star break, even in a best-case scenario. Fantasy managers in re-draft formats can probably move on, especially in shallow mixed leagues. Rotoworld 48 minutes ago

    • Ranger Suárez trending towards starting in London
Ranger Suárez (thumb) played catch on Tuesday without any issues or limitations.

Advice: Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters Suárez is slated to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday and is trending towards taking the ball this weekend in London against the Mets. The 28-year-old southpaw is reportedly feeling much better of late after being hit by a comebacker last Saturday against the Cardinals. X-rays came back negative and it looks like he’ll be ready to take the ball this weekend. Rotoworld Today, 1:42 pm

    • Still on track for London start
Suarez (hand) played catch without any apparent issues Tuesday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: He gave a thumbs up to reporters afterward and Phillies manager Rob Thomson said of Suarez that "it looks good so far." Suarez will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, and assuming that goes well he's expected to be cleared to start against the Mets this weekend in London. The lefty had to depart his last outing Saturday versus the Cardinals after being struck on the pitching hand by a comebacker. Rotowire.com Today, 1:06 pm

    • Abreu (ankle) hopeful for minimum stint on IL
Wilyer Abreu (ankle) told reporters Tuesday that he’s hopeful he can return from the injured list after the minimum 10 days passes.

Advice: Abreu was placed on the 10-day injured list with his ankle sprain prior to Tuesday’s game. The outfielder told reporters that an MRI revealed a good deal of inflammation, but no structural damage. The Red Sox will obviously take the necessary precautions, but there’s a chance Abreu is back as the starting right fielder for the Red Sox in the middle of June. Rotoworld Today, 12:52 pm
