    The Marlins recalled Edwards from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

    Advice: Miami is in need of infield help with both Tim Anderson (bereavement) and Otto Lopez (paternity) away from the club for a few days. Edwards is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff in Friday's game against the Guardians. The 24-year-old got a late start to this season due to a bacterial infection in his left foot, but he's slashed .365/.411/.481 with three stolen bases in 17 games with Jacksonville.     Gray was called up by the Marlins from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

    Advice: With Tim Anderson being placed on the Bereavement List and Otto Lopez going on the Paternity List, Gray will jump up to the Marlins 26-man roster. Gray briefly joined the team in May while Anderson was on the IL but only made one start, which came at third base. Unless the Yankees lose one of their other four current healthy starters due to an injury, Poteet's stay in the big-league rotation will likely come to an end once Gerrit Cole (elbow) makes his expected return from the 60-day injured list later this month.     Dominguez's (elbow) exit in the eighth inning of Thursday's rehab game with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre was not related to the injury to Juan Soto (forearm), Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

    Advice: Dominguez's removal was planned, as he has yet to play a full game on his rehab assignment as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. Of course, it's still possible Dominguez could be a potential roster replacement for Soto should the latter need to miss some time. Soto is set to undergo imaging on his left forearm Friday, and the results of that will dictate how the Yankees proceed.     Williamson has been pulled off his rehab assignment due to continued issues with his left shoulder, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Horwitz has been on fire of late at Triple-A Buffalo, going 16-for-36 with a pair of home runs. He's also played mostly second base over that stretch, and that could be a path to playing time for him with the big club if the Jays would prefer to use Davis Schneider more in left field.     Advice: Vargas started in left field and batted eighth in the order. He hit safely in his fourth straight game with a fourth-inning double and also stole a base and scored after reaching on a fielder's choice in the fifth. Vargas has held his own with a .250/.318/.550 slash line, one homer, three doubles, three RBI, five runs and a steal over 22 plate appearances this season. He's currently on the short side of a platoon with Jason Heyward -- Vargas has started each of Los Angeles' past three games against a left-handed starter while sitting out the team's past four contests against a right-hander.
