  • José Soriano shaky in no-decision vs. Mariners
    José Soriano gave up four runs in his six innings of work in a no-decision Friday against the Mariners.

    Advice: Soriano allowed seven hits with a couple of walks while striking out three. this could have been a much worse outing based on how things went early on, as he allowed three runs in the first before settling down. The 25-year-old has now given up four runs in back-to-back starts, but in both of those outings there have been quality moments for Soriano.   • Bryan Woo gets no-decision despite six scoreless
    Bryan Woo didn’t allow a run over six innings against the Angels on Friday, but also didn’t factor into the decision.

    Advice: Woo threw just 66 pitches with 47 of them landing in the strike zone, but the Mariners continue to play things cautiously with the 24-year-old in his second MLB season and coming off an injury that caused him to miss a month. Unfortunately it didn’t work out for Seattle, as the 4-0 lead he entered with quickly became a 4-4 game on a grand slam for Jo Adell. Still, another strong outing for Woo that sees his ERA fall to a glistening 1.30. He isn’t missing a ton of bats, but his ability to avoid hard contact has been elite thus far.   • Roughed up in no-decision
    Myers did not factor into the decision in Friday's 12-5 win over the White Sox, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.

    Advice: Myers entered this start on a hot streak, firing a 1.93 ERA and 12:4 K:BB over 9.1 innings in his last three outings, but struggled against a weak White Sox lineup. He allowed just one homer -- a 417-foot solo shot to Paul DeJong -- but failed to reach multiple strikeouts in a start for the first time this season. The Brewers rotation plans are murky currently as DL Hall (knee) has been making rehab starts and could return soon.   • Luke Weaver gets final five outs against Giants
    Luke Weaver threw 1 2/3 scoreless frames in a relief appearance Friday against the Giants.

    Advice: Weaver allowed just one hit with one strikeout. The right-hander has become a big part of the New York bullpen with a 2.78 ERA and sparkling 0.73 WHIP while composing a K/BB of 39/7. It’s a little surprising to see how good he’s been, but credit to the Yankees and Weaver into turning him into a legitimate high-leverage option. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:57 pm
     
  • Jordan Hicks shaky over 5 1/3 against Yankees
    Jordan Hicks gave up eight hits and five runs — four earned — in 5 1/3 innings while picking up a loss to the Giants on Friday.

    Advice: When Hicks wasn’t pitching to Aaron Judge, things went ok. Unfortunately, he pitched to Aaron Judge a few times, and he gave up two homers to the mountain of a slugger. Hicks did give up eight hits in this contest, so it wasn’t just Aaron Judge, but Aaron Judge did most of the damage. This blurb is just an excuse to talk more about Aaron Judge.   • Marcus Stroman pitches into eighth in victory
    Marcus Stroman gave up two runs over 7 2/3 innings to get a win Friday over the Giants.

    Advice: Stroman allowed six hits with a pair of walks while striking out only two. The punchouts are not the 33-year-old’s strength, but he limits the hard contact and works deep enough into games to give fantasy managers a reason to smile more often than not. He now owns a 2.76 ERA in his first season as a New York Yankee, and he’ll have a chance to lower that solid number further against the Twins next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:57 pm
     
  • Yields four runs in no-decision
    Fedde did not factor into the decision in Friday's 12-5 loss to Milwaukee, allowing four runs on nine hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out eight.

    Advice: Fedde's start offered a mix bag as he allowed a season-high 13 baserunners but also managed to provide eight punchouts. The 31-year-old right-hander has been a surprising source of strikeouts as he's generated 66 in 69.1 total innings. With this four-run outing, his ERA now stands at 3.12 to go along with a 1.18 WHIP.   • Jalen Beeks gets sixth save against Dodgers
    Jalen Beeks didn’t give up a run and picked up a save Friday against the Dodgers.

    Advice: It’s the sixth save of the season for Beeks, and the first save where he didn’t allow a run since May 13. The left-hander does have a 2.93 ERA, and he’s been one of the few pleasant surprises for the Rockies in 2024. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:45 pm
     
  • Walker Buehler gives up three earned in defeat
    Walker Buehler allowed four runs — three earned — in a loss Friday to the Rockies.

    Advice: Buehler dealt with control issues, as he walked four while throwing 56-of-92 pitches for strikes. The 29-year-old allowed three runs in the third with run-scoring hits by Brendan Rodgers and Kris Bryant, and an inning later he allowed a solo shot to Ezequiel Tovar. It wasn’t a horrific start and Buehler did strike out seven, but a disappointing one considering the opponent. He’ll get the Pirates next week, assuming the rotation doesn’t change.
