Daulton Varsho went 2-for-4 with a grand slam against the Guardians on Sunday.
Advice: The home run was Varsho’s 11th of the season. He could’ve had an even bigger game as he came up with the bases loaded again in the eighth inning, but he struck out. While he’s only hitting .220, he’s produced in the power categories with 11 home runs and 35 RBI. His .238 ISO is even higher than his .207 ISO in 2022 when he hit 27 home runs with the Diamondbacks.
Austin Riley went 2-for-4 with a game-tying two-run home run and two runs scored on Sunday against the Rays.
Advice: Congratulations to all the fantasy managers who kept their patience with Riley because the hot streak is officially here. He homered in every game this weekend and has raised his OPS from .618 to .695 since Friday. RotoworldYesterday, 1:26 pm
Ian Happ went 2-for-3 with a double, walk, run scored, and stolen base on Sunday against the Cardinals.
Advice: Happ, like the rest of the Cubs, has not been hitting his best of late. He ignited both of their mini rallies in this one, scoring their only run and making Ryan Helsley sweat in the ninth inning. Hopefully this can jump start a hot streak in what’s been a mediocre season. RotoworldYesterday, 1:05 pm
Martinez went 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs, three total RBI and two walks in Saturday's 5-1 win against the Padres.
Advice: Martinez reached in all five of his plate appearances and registered his first multi-homer game of the season. The veteran slugger has gone deep three times in his past three games and has at least one RBI in six of his past seven contests. Of Martinez's past six hits, five (two doubles and three homers) have gone for extra bases. Rotowire.comSaturday, 10:34 pm
Riley went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run and two walks in Saturday's 9-2 victory against the Rays.
Advice: Riley broke the game open in the seventh frame with his three-run shot to center field that gave Atlanta an 8-1 lead. It was the second straight contest with a long ball for the third baseman following a 23-game homerless stretch (and a 45-game span during which he went deep only once). Riley may finally be getting his power on track, but with just five long balls through 233 plate appearances, he'll be hard-pressed to reach 30 homers for the fourth straight season. Garcia went 1-for-3 with a walk, one stolen base and one run scored in Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Mariners.
Advice: Garcia has two steals over his last six games, though he hasn't driven in a run in that span. The veteran outfielder is up to six thefts, 13 home runs, 40 RBI and 34 runs scored while slashing a shaky .218/.276/.417 through 67 contests. He's been held without a hit in 12 of his last 20 games, which has had a significant negative impact on his production across the board. Rotowire.comSaturday, 9:37 pm
Austin Riley went 1-for-2 with a home run and two walks in a win over the Rays on Saturday.
Advice: That’s now homers in back-to-back games for Riley, who might be starting to wake up a bit. There wasn’t much under the hood that looked “off” with Riley this year, but he was being pitched differently and not being given much he could turn on, which had hurt his pull power. Perhaps it took him a while to adjust his approach to combat that, or perhaps it’s just two good games. Only time will tell, but it seems smart to bet on Riley. RotoworldSaturday, 7:17 pm
J.D. Martinez went 3-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI in a 5-1 win over the Padres on Saturday.
Advice: Martinez hit his first home run 391 feet off of Jhony Brito in the fourth inning and then followed that up with a 382-foot shot in the seventh. He now has eight home runs and 26 RBI in 43 games for the Mets so far this season. Given his regular playing time and spot in the middle of the Mets’ order, Martinez carries consistent fantasy value even in his age 36 season. RotoworldSaturday, 6:42 pm
Happ went 2-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Cardinals.
Advice: The 29-year-old outfielder took John King deep in the seventh inning, Happ's first homer in June. The performance snapped a 1-for-24 slump over his prior seven games, and on the season he's slashing .218/.328/.376 over 65 contests with seven homers, five steals, 32 runs and 33 RBI.
