  • Paul Goldschmidt had elbow surgery after season
Paul Goldschmidt underwent surgery after the season to remove a bone spur from his right elbow.

Advice: Goldschmidt was sidelined a bit back in spring training by an elbow issue, but it never caused him to miss time during the regular season. However, he obviously decided to go ahead and get it taken care of. The first baseman should be able to have a relatively normal offseason. Rotoworld.com Today, 3:00 pm

  • Mets decline Todd Frazier's option
Mets declined INF Todd Frazier's $5.75 million club option for 2021.

Advice: He'll receive a $1.5 million buyout instead. After beginning this season with the Rangers, Frazier finished it back with the Mets, posting just a .643 OPS over 14 games. Rotoworld.com Today, 1:57 pm

  • Nats decline mutual option on 1B Eric Thames
Nationals declined 1B/DH Eric Thames' $4 million mutual option for 2021.

Advice: He's due a $1 million buyout instead. Thames finished the condensed 2020 regular season with a poor .203/.300/.317 batting line, tallying only three home runs and 12 RBI in 140 plate appearances. Rotoworld.com Today, 11:49 am

  • Nats decline mutual option on Howie Kendrick
Nationals declined INF Howie Kendrick's $6.5 million mutual option for 2021.

Advice: Kendrick will get a $2.25 million buyout and may head into retirement at age 37. He was brilliant for Washington in 2019 before slashing just .275/.320/.385 with two home runs over 100 plate appearances in 2020. Rotoworld.com Today, 11:46 am

  • Daniel Murphy officially becomes free agent Wed.
Daniel Murphy officially became a free agent on Wednesday.

Advice: Murphy carried a $12 million mutual option for 2021, and the Rockies obviously declined their half of it. He'll get a $6 million buyout and hit the open market as a 35-year-old coming off a .236/.275/.333 batting line with three home runs and 16 RBI in 40 games. It could be tough for him to find even non-guaranteed minor league offers. Rotoworld.com Today, 10:42 am

  • Ji-Man Choi hitting leadoff in World Series Game 6
Ji-Man Choi will hit leadoff in Game 6 of the World Series against the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Advice: A new look for the Rays as they try to keep their season alive. Choi hasn't been in the lineup since Game 3, but he's back in there against right-hander Tony Gonsolin. The 29-year-old is hitting .263 (10-for-38) with two homers and an .864 OPS this postseason. The full lineup for Tampa Bay: Choi 1B, Randy Arozarena LF, Austin Meadows DH, Brandon Lowe 2B, Manuel Margot RF, Joey Wendle 3B, Willy Adames SS, Kevin Kiermaier CF, Mike Zunino C. Blake Snell will make the start for the Rays.  Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 11:35 am

  • Diaz triples and scores in loss to Dodgers in Gm 5
Yandy Diaz went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI on Sunday in Game 5 of the World Series.

Advice: Diaz singled in the first, but the big hit was a triple in the third off Clayton Kershaw to score Kevin Kiermaier. He came around to score a play later on a Randy Arozarena single. Diaz hits leadoff against lefties, but with Tony Gonsolin likely starting Game 6 on Tuesday, there's a good chance that Diaz begins the contest on the bench.  Rotoworld.com Sunday, 8:38 pm

  • Joc Pederson homers and walks in Game 5 victory
Joc Pederson homered and walked on Sunday in Game 5 of the World Series against the Rays.

Advice: Pederson blistered a solo shot off of Tyler Glasnow in the second inning to up the Dodgers' lead to 3-0. The outfielder also made a couple of nice plays in the field, and drew a walk for good measure. With Blake Snell starting Game 6 on Tuesday, there's a good chance Pederson is out of the lineup to start, but he will likely be used off the bench at some point.  Rotoworld.com Sunday, 8:38 pm

  • Muncy clobbers solo homer in Dodgers' win in Gm 5
Max Muncy went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk in a win over the Rays on Sunday in Game 5 of the World Series.

Advice: With the Dodgers leading 3-2, Muncy added some insurance with an absolute moonshot off of Tyler Glasnow in the fifth that extended that lead to 4-2. He also had a single that would have been a double if it wasn't hit so hard -- and if Muncy weren't a well below-average runner -- and drew a walk. The 30-year-old has been outstanding in these five games with a .389/.522/.611 slash, and he might be the favorite for World Series MVP if the Dodgers can win one more game.  Rotoworld.com Sunday, 8:38 pm

  • Cody Bellinger (back) returns to CF for Game 5
Cody Bellinger (back) is starting in center field and batting sixth for the Dodgers in Sunday's World Series Game 5 versus the Rays.

Advice: Bellinger was moved from center field to the designated hitter spot shortly before Game 4 due to some back tightness, but he's feeling well enough to play the field in Game 5. The Dodgers will throw out this lineup against Tyler Glasnow: Mookie Betts RF, Corey Seager SS, Justin Turner 3B, Max Muncy 1B, Will Smith DH, Bellinger CF, Chris Taylor 2B, Joc Pederson LF, Austin Barnes C. • Joc Pederson delivers pinch-hit two-run single
Joc Pederson came through in a big way off the Dodgers bench on Saturday, delivering a go-ahead, pinch-hit two-run single in the seventh inning -- but it wouldn't be enough for the Dodgers to overcome the Rays.

Advice: Pederson was called upon to hit for A.J. Pollock with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh inning, with the Dodgers trailing by a run. After working the count to 3-1 against Nick Anderson, Pederson lined a single into right field that hit off of the glove of a diving Brandon Lowe -- scoring both the tying and go-ahead runs. Pederson also singled in the eighth inning, finishing the night 2-for-2. He’s hitting .375 (12-for-32) with a homer and seven RBI so far during the postseason. Rotoworld.com Saturday, 9:06 pm

  • Cody Bellinger will serve as designated hitter
The Dodgers made a late adjustment to their starting lineup for Game 4 of the World Series on Saturday, shifting Cody Bellinger to the designated hitter spot while moving A.J. Pollock to center field.

Advice: Bellinger's back apparently tightened up on him overnight. He arrived early for treatment on Saturday and was able to take swings in the cage without issue, but it was bothering him in the field which prompted the switch. Pollock, who had been slated to DH for the Dodgers, made 16 starts in center field during the regular season. • Mike Brosseau batting third for Rays in Game 4
Mike Brosseau is drawing a start at third base and batting third for the Rays against left-hander Julio Urias and the Dodgers in Game 4 of the World Series on Saturday night.

Advice: Unsurprisingly, the Rays have all of their traditional lefty-mashers in the lineup on Saturday. Brosseau in place of Joey Wendle is the only material change to the lineup that the Rays used against Clayton Kershaw in Game 1, though the order has been completely scrambled. Here's how they'll line up as they attempt to even the series at two games apiece: Yandy Diaz 1B, Randy Arozarena DH, Brosseau 3B, Manuel Margot LF, Brandon Lowe 2B, Willy Adames SS, Hunter Renfroe RF, Mike Zunino C, Kevin Kiermaier CF. • Max Muncy drives in two runs as Dodgers win Game 3
Max Muncy went 2-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs on Friday, helping to propel the Dodgers to victory over the Rays in Game 3 of the World Series.

Advice: Muncy broke the game open with a two-out, two-run single off of Charlie Morton in the third inning that increased their advantage to 3-0. They would never trail in the ballgame. With his two-hit night, the 30-year-old slugger is hitting .245 (12-for-49) with two homers and 12 RBI through 15 games this postseason. Rotoworld.com Friday, 8:21 pm

  • Brandon Lowe homers twice as Rays even up series
Brandon Lowe broke out of his slump with a pair of home runs as the Rays downed the Dodgers in Game 2 of the World Series on Wednesday.

Advice: Lowe entered this one hitting just .107 (6-for-56) so far this postseason, but he ripped a long opposite-field blast off of Tony Gonsolin as the second batter of the game to open the scoring. He wasn't done there, belting another one to left off of Dustin May in the fifth inning which hit off the top of the wall and went into the seats for a two-run shot. The Rays' offense as a whole has been struggling, so getting Lowe going would obviously be huge for their chances this series. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 8:59 pm

  • Ji-Man Choi at 1B, batting cleanup in WS Game 2
Ji-Man Choi is starting at first base and hitting cleanup for the Rays in World Series Game 2 on Wednesday night against the Dodgers.

Advice: Choi came off the bench in Game 1 on Tuesday with the Dodgers throwing left-hander Clayton Kershaw, but he'll get the start Wednesday versus Tony Gonsolin and what figures to be a parade of relievers. The full Game 2 lineup for Tampa Bay behind Blake Snell: Austin Meadows DH, Brandon Lowe 2B, Randy Arozarena LF, Ji-Man Choi 1B, Manuel Margot RF, Joey Wendle 3B, Willy Adames SS, Kevin Kiermaier CF, Mike Zunino C. • Muncy drives in two, scores two in WS Gm 1 win
Max Muncy finished 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, and two runs scored in the Dodgers' World Series Game 1 defeat of the Rays on Tuesday.

Advice: Muncy took a grounder to the face during pregame warmups, but he brushed it off and drew his 16th walk of the 2020 postseason in the bottom of the fourth inning just before teammate Cody Bellinger yanked a two-run homer to open the night's scoring. Muncy then tallied an RBI on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the fifth inning and drove a run-scoring double to the fence in right-center field in the bottom of the sixth. • Bellinger homers in Dodgers' WS Game 1 win Tues.
Cody Bellinger homered Tuesday as the Dodgers beat the Rays in Game 1 of the World Series.

Advice: It was a one-out two-run homer to center field in the bottom of the fourth inning, off a first-pitch 98.2 mph down-and-in fastball from Rays starter Tyler Glasnow. That is the fastest pitch that Bellinger has turned around for a home run in his four-year major league career, and he celebrated by foot-tapping his teammates rather than going with the hybrid jump-high-five move that caused him to temporarily dislocate his shoulder in Game 7 of the NLCS against the Braves. Bellinger is the second player ever to hit a go-ahead homer in Game 7 of an LCS and another go-ahead homer in Game 1 of a World Series. The other: David Ortiz in 2004. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 8:52 pm

  • Muncy (head) 'fine' for World Series Gm 1 vs. Rays
Max Muncy (head) told FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal that he is "fine" for Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday night against the Rays.

Advice: Rosenthal provided that update live on MLB Network. Muncy took a ground ball to the face, just below his right eye, while participating in infield practice on Tuesday evening at Globe Life Field, but he got treatment and then popped back out of the clubhouse for a full round of batting practice. The 30-year-old slugger will start at first base and hit cleanup in World Series Game 1 versus the Rays and right-hander Tyler Glasnow. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 3:12 pm

  • Muncy struck in face during infield practice Tues.
Max Muncy was struck in the face by a ground ball while participating in infield practice before Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday.

Advice: Jon Morosi of MLB Network notes that Muncy "walked calmly to the clubhouse for treatment" by the Dodgers' medical staff and returned to the field around 12 minutes later to take live batting practice. It sounds like he avoided a serious injury. Muncy is currently slated to start at first base and beat cleanup for the Dodgers in World Series Game 1 on Tuesday night against the Rays and right-hander Tyler Glasnow. • Braves interested in extension for Freddie Freeman
Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos said the club is interested in signing Freddie Freeman to a contract extension.

Advice: And why wouldn't they be? Freeman appears on track for his first National League MVP Award after batting .341/.462/.640 with 13 homers and 53 RBI over 60 games during the regular season. He's currently under contract through 2021 and Anthopoulos said there's mutual interest in something getting done. The Braves got Ronald Acuña Jr. and Ozzie Albies to sign below-market contracts in their extensions, so they should be able to afford to give Freeman whatever it takes to make him a Brave for life. • Cody Bellinger says shoulder feels 'pretty good'
Cody Bellinger said Monday that his right shoulder feels "pretty good."

Advice: Bellinger's shoulder popped out of place during a celebration with Enrique Hernandez following his go-ahead home run in the seventh inning of Sunday's NLCS Game 7. He said that the shoulder has popped out 3-4 times before in the past, so it wasn't a total surprise to him and he knew what kind of pain to expect. While obviously not ideal, it doesn't sound like the injury is something to be overly concerned about. Rotoworld.com Oct 19, 2:17 pm

  • Bellinger hits go-ahead blast as Dodgers win NLCS
Cody Bellinger hit a go-ahead solo homer in the seventh inning to help the Dodgers defeat the Braves 4-3 in Game 7 of the NLCS on Sunday and advance to the World Series.

Advice: It was a disappointing regular season for the 2019 MVP. No one in Los Angeles cares right now. With the game tied at 3-3, Bellinger crushed a Chris Martin offering to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead and ultimately send Los Angeles to their third World Series in four seasons. He's one of three players now to hit homers in multiple winner-take-all games; joining Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz.
