  • Harper homers twice against Mets
Bryce Harper homered twice and walked twice Thursday versus the Mets.

Advice: Harper's terrific start had fizzled in recent weeks, but his overall .252/.404/.503 line is still quite good. He has 12 homers in 155 at-bats and 199 plate appearances, and he's walked more frequently than he's struck out (39 to 34).  Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:53 pm

  • Tigers' Cameron off to 1-for-27 start
Daz Cameron went 0-for-3 on Thursday and has opened his big-league career 1-for-27 with an 11/1 K/BB ratio.

Advice: Cameron hit just .214 in Triple-A last year, so no one should be surprised to see him struggling in his introduction to the majors. There's hope here for the future, since he's very good defensively in center field, he has some power and he'll take a walk. Like his father before him, though, he's probably always going to have issues with batting average. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:22 pm

  • Castro (hamstring) to be activated from IL Friday
The Tigers will activate Harold Castro (hamstring) off the injured list on Friday.

Advice: Castro has been on the injured list since August 19, and he won't spend any additional days on the list with his left hamstring strain. He was performing relatively well with a .276/.364/.379 line in his 15 games, but he can be left on the waiver wire in all formats for these final nine days of the season.  Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:14 pm

Tigers optioned OF Travis Demeritte to their alternate training site.

Advice: Demeritte is being sent down to make room for Harold Castro, who comes off the 10-day injured list on Friday. In 29 at-bats, the 25-year-old hit just .172 with a .480 OPS.  Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 7:40 pm

  • Tucker swats ninth homer in win over Rangers
Kyle Tucker hit a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Rangers.

Advice: Rangers starter Jordan Lyles didn't give the Astros much to hit on this night, but Tucker made the most of his opportunity. On a high 3-2 fastball in the second inning, Tucker got around on it and yanked it over the right field wall for a two-run shot. The homer was the 23-year-old's only hit in the game and his ninth dinger of the season. There hasn't been a lot to celebrate in Houston to this point this year, but Tucker's emergence as a middle-of-the-order hitter has been one of them. Through Thursday, the left fielder is hitting .253/.303/.529 with those nine homers, 39 RBI, 31 runs scored and five steals. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 7:38 pm

  • Polanco homers, drives in three in win over Cards
Gregory Polanco went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Thursday's win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Cardinals reliever Austin Gomber left a slider over the heart of the plate in the fourth inning and Polanco hit a low line drive that carried over the right-center field wall for a three-run shot. It would be all the offense Bucs starter Steven Brault would need in his complete-game gem. For Polanco, the homer was his sixth of the year, giving him 19 RBI. It's been a dreadful year for the 29-year-old, although when he makes contact he's still stinging the ball, suggesting he's healthy. After Thursday he's hitting .146/.199/.331 with a handful of games left on the slate. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 6:46 pm

  • Mike Yastrzemski to undergo MRI on calf on Friday
Mike Yastrzemski will undergo an MRI on his right calf on Friday.

Advice: Yastrzemski left in the second inning of the Giants' 6-4 victory over Seattle with tightness in the right calf. The imagine will help determine the severity of the injury for the 30-year-old outfielder. Yastrzemski has been excellent this year with a slash of .285/.395/.553 line along with nine homers and 33 RBI, so this would be a significant loss for the playoff-contending Giants.  Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 5:24 pm

  • Angels' Ward goes 3-for-4, doubles twice
Taylor Ward went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a stolen base Thursday versus the Diamondbacks.

Advice: After he didn't get much of a chance last year, the future seemed bleak for Ward in Anaheim, especially with Jo Adell on the way up. Still, thanks to injuries, Ward has received something of an opportunity anyway and hit a solid .290/.353/.419 in 68 plate appearances. Unfortunately, he still hasn't found a way to contribute defensively; a converted catcher, he hasn't caught a game in three years, he hasn't impressed in the outfield and the Angels abandoned the experiment of playing him at third. The bat is interesting -- he's hit .323/.432/.568 in 166 games in Triple-A, albeit in a high-offense environment -- but it's still not clear if he fits into the Angels' plans. Pirates recalled INF/OF Jose Osuna from their alternate training site.

Nationals activated INF/oF Brock Holt off the paternity list.

Advice: Holt will replace Adam Eaton on the roster, who went on the IL with a broken finger. With Eaton out, it seems logical that Holt will get some starts in left field down the stretch, but is a tough sell as a fantasy recommendation.  Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 3:10 pm

  • Nationals place Eaton on IL with fractured finger
Nationals placed OF Adam Eaton on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left index finger.

Advice: Eaton exited with what was called a bruised finger on Wednesday against the Rays, but it was obviously more significant than that. With just 10 days left in the regular season, it sounds like his regular season is over. In 41 games, the outfielder hit just .226 with a not-so-nice .669 OPS along with four homers and three steals. • Meadows leaves against O's with oblique soreness
Austin Meadows left game one of a doubleheader against the Orioles on Thursday with left oblique soreness.

Advice: Meadows has been replaced by Manuel Margot in left field. The outfielder has dealt with injuries throughout his career, and the Rays will assuredly have the 25-year-old go through imaging to see the severity of this one. • Tucker collects hit in win over Rangers
Kyle Tucker went 1-for-4 on Tuesday in the Astros’ win over the Rangers.

Advice: Tucker snapped an 0-for-16 slide at the plate with a lead-off single to right field in the second inning. The 23-year-old phenom has cooled off considerably over the last few weeks, but has still put together an impressive offensive campaign, slashing .252/.304/.521 with 30 runs scored, eight home runs, 37 RBI and five stolen bases across 181 plate appearances. The 27-year-old outfielder has made incredibly swift progress from the left oblique strain that he suffered on September 5. • Pirates' Tucker strikes out twice before removal
Cole Tucker struck out in both of his at-bats before being lifted from Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader against the Reds.

Advice: He's out of the lineup for Game 2. Tucker has gotten much more of an opportunity than expected this year because of the Pirates' offensive struggles, but to say that he's failed to capitalize would be an understatement. He's been one of the NL's worst players while hitting .225/.259/.285 in 109 plate appearances and struggling defensively in the outfield. To be fair, he's a natural shortstop who was thrown into the outfield mix out of necessity, so his issues there shouldn't be held against him. Still, the extreme lack of offense is a problem. • Harper homers, reaches five times against Marlins
Bryce Harper went 3-for-4 with two walks, a solo home run and three runs scored in Saturday's win over the Marlins.

Advice: Harper slashed a high fastball from Marlins starter José Ureña over the boards in left field for a solo shot in the third inning, his eighth homer of the year. He added a single and a double to go with his pair of walks, collecting a season-high seven total bases before all was said and done. It's perhaps been understated, but the 27-year-old is actually having a very nice all-around season in 2020, batting .263/.425/.504 with eight homers, eight steals, 22 RBI and 31 runs scored in 41 games. The left fielder clubbed the heater deep into the seats in right field for his fourth homer of the year, and his first since August 18. It's been tough sledding for the talented 25-year-old this year, as between COVID-19 and a cold snap at the plate he's hitting just .208/.302/.392 in 32 games. • Eaton reaches twice, scores Nats' lone run in loss
Adam Eaton had a pinch-hit single, stole a base and scored a run in Saturday's loss to the Braves.

Advice: Eaton was a late scratch from the Nationals' lineup ahead of Saturday's game but it clearly wasn't too dire, as he entered the game in the eighth inning for Michael A. Taylor to face Braves reliever Shane Greene. He promptly singled, stole second base and scored on Trea Turner's RBI double, the only run the Nats would muster in the loss. It's been a bit of a disappointing year for the 31-year-old this year, as he's hitting just .228/.286/.396 in 38 games.
