    • Arraez back in the lineup Friday
Arraez is back in the Padres lineup, hitting leadoff against the Braves on Friday.

Advice: Arraez had a routine day off on Wednesday as the Padres faced Rockies left-hander Austin Gomber. He’s back in there as the designated hitter and leadoff man for Friday’s game. Rotoworld 44 minutes ago

    • Shows improvement
Baz (elbow) struck out three and allowed one earned run on five hits and two walks over 3.1 innings Thursday in the third start of his minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham.

Advice: After issuing five walks in just 1.2 innings in his second rehab start, Baz demonstrated improved control. Though he still walked two of the 17 batters (11.8 percent) he faced, the right-hander spotted 49 of his 69 pitches for strikes. Baz will likely make at least one more rehab start for Durham before the Rays bring him back from the 15-day injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 8:59 am

    • Shane Baz (elbow) fills up strike zone on Thursday
Shane Baz (elbow) allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings on Thursday for Triple-A Durham.

Advice: Baz struck out three and only issued a pair of walks. He generated only five swinging strikes, but was able to locate the strike zone effectively, throwing a whopping 49 of 69 pitches for strikes. It was a much-needed improvement after handing out five free passes his last time out. The 24-year-old former top pitching prospect remains without a definitive timetable to return to Tampa Bay’s starting rotation as he continues to build up his pitch count and stamina in the minors. • Gets breather Thursday
Smith isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Thursday's game versus Cincinnati.

Advice: After going 5-for-12 with three RBI and two runs scored during the Dodgers' last series with the Giants, Smith will get a day off during Thursday's series opener. Austin Barnes will take his place behind the dish and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:08 pm

    • Goes through another workout
Turner (hamstring) went through a workout at Citizens Bank Park for the second straight day Thursday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Turner went through agility drills and took grounders on the field and also hit in the indoor batting cage. While the Phillies are not ready to say the shortstop is progressing from his left hamstring strain ahead of schedule, it sure seems like he might be. Turner is less than two weeks into a projected six-week recovery timetable. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:55 pm

    • Trea Turner (hamstring) progressing rapidly
Trea Turner (hamstring) went through agility drills on Thursday at Citizens Bank Park.

Advice: Turner has goen through a full workout, which also includes hitting and fielding grounders, on back-to-back days, which is notable since he’s just under two weeks removed from suffering a left hamstring strain. The 30-year-old shortstop was originally expected to miss six weeks, but it sounds like he’s going to beat that original estimate by a considerable margin, which is good news for the Phillies and fantasy managers. • Aaron Judge doubles twice in victory over Twins
Aaron Judge doubled twice on Thursday in the Yankees’ win over the Twins.

Advice: Judge scalded a pair of doubles in this one that carried exit velocities over 108 mph and traveled over 400 feet, but wound up staying in the yard at spacious Target Field in Minnesota. He finished 2-for-3 with a walk, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances in the one-sided affair. The 32-year-old former AL MVP has rebounded from a frosty start at the dish this season, batting .396 (19-for-48) with five homers and nine doubles in 14 contests since the start of May. • Homers in Wednesday's loss
Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 7-2 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Goldschmidt is on a five-game hitting streak, having gone 7-for-23 (.304) with two homers and four RBI in that span. The burst of offense has doubled his homer total for the year to four, and he's up to 15 RBI, 20 runs scored, two stolen bases and three doubles while slashing .206/.291/.300 across 41 contests. Goldschmidt sat out a game just prior to his current streak, so it appears the mental reset is paying off in the short term, though his counting stats are unlikely to improve much if the team around him doesn't collectively start hitting better. • Records third steal Wednesday
Raley went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a stolen base in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Raley delivered a timely single in the eighth inning that plated pinch runner Leonardo Rivas, extending the Mariners' lead back to two runs after Bobby Witt had brought the Royals within one in the top half of the frame. Raley's multi-hit effort was an extension of a torrid stretch at the plate for the offseason addition, one that's seen him generate a .435 average and 1.219 OPS over the last seven games.
