    • Three hits, three RBI in win
Donovan went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI in Thursday's win over the Giants.

Advice: Donovan continued to rake Thursday, posting his fourth three-hit game of the campaign and his third multi-hit performance in his last four contests. The outfielder's two-run blast in the first inning gave the Cardinals an early 3-0 lead, while his two-out, RBI single in the fifth added what would prove to be a pivotal insurance run. Donovan is now up to seven long balls on the season, with three coming this month and two coming over his last three games. He's batting .299 in June with 11 RBI and seven runs scored. • Swats homer No. 21
Ohtani went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks in Thursday's 5-3 win against the Rockies.

Advice: Ohtani began the game with a solo shot to center field for the seventh leadoff home run of his career. The superstar slugger has racked up four homers over his past five contests and has notched nine RBI during that span. Ohtani leads the National League and ranks third in MLB with 21 home runs overall this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:26 pm

    • On base five times in win
Rutschman went 3-for-5 with a double, two walks and three runs scored in Thursday's 17-5 win over the Yankees.

Advice: This was the catcher's second multi-hit effort over his last nine games, a span in which he's gone a meager 7-for-35 (.200). Rutschman started the year hot at the plate, but his struggles haven't cost him much playing time and he remains productive. He's hitting .293 with an .814 OPS, 14 home runs, 53 RBI, 39 runs scored and one stolen base over 70 contests this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:17 pm
    • Brendan Donovan leads Cardinals to win over Giants
Brendan Donovan went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBI on Thursday, powering the Cardinals to a 6-5 victory over the Giants at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

Advice: Donovan served as the Cardinals’ primary offensive catalyst in this one as the Alabama native took Giants starter Keaton Winn deep in the opening frame for his seventh big fly of the season. He also plated a key insurance run with a fifth-inning RBI single against Giants lefty reliever Taylor Rogers. The three-hit effort raises his batting average to a solid .258 mark to go along with 33 runs scored, seven homers, 36 RBI and one steal over 69 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:08 pm

    • Collects 22nd save
Clase tossed a perfect ninth inning Thursday, striking out one to earn the save against Seattle.

Advice: Clase had allowed earned runs in consecutive appearances on June 9 and 11 but has regained his form since, tossing his third consecutive clean outing to close out the game for the Guardians. Clase ranks first in the American League with 22 saves, ranking behind only Ryan Helsley of the Cardinals who has 24 to lead the major leagues. Through 35.1 innings this season, Clase has allowed only three earned runs for an ERA of 0.76 with a 0.62 WHIP and 36 strikeouts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:16 pm
    • Lit up for seven runs
Gil (9-2) was hit with the loss against the Orioles on Thursday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out one over 1.1 innings.

Advice: Gil struggled out of the gate, surrendering a leadoff double to open the contest before then eventually allowing one run in the first. However, things would get much worse for the right-hander in the following frame as he failed to retire nine of the next 10 batters he faced, leading to his shortest outing of the campaign. Gil gave up a season-high seven runs on the afternoon and failed to make it through six innings for the third-consecutive start. It also marked his first loss since April 15 against Toronto. • Wilyer Abreu (ankle) set to return on Friday
Wilyer Abreu (ankle) is likely to return for Friday’s series opener against the Reds.

Advice: Abreu hammered a pair of solo homers on Wednesday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Worcester and is expected to rejoin the club for the start of a series out in Cincinnati. The 24-year-old has been on the shelf since early June when he suffered a right ankle sprain when he slipped on the dugout steps. His return will provide a lift for the Red Sox, who are riding a five-game winning streak. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:37 pm

    • Earns eighth win
Allen (8-3) earned the win Thursday against the Mariners, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks across six innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Allen did not start off well, allowing a leadoff single to JP Crawford followed by a homer to Dylan Moore but allowed just one more run the rest of the way to earn his eighth win and complete his fifth quality start of the season. Allen, who also hit a batter on the day, continues to struggle with missing bats, having struck out just eight batters over the last three starts spanning 17 innings after having struck out 51 across 58.2 innings during his first 12 outings. Despite the dearth of strikeouts during this most recent stretch, Allen's ERA stands at 3.17 over the last three games as opposed to 5.83 during the 12 games prior. Things will not get easier for his next start as he's currently scheduled to take on the Orioles in Baltimore. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:46 pm
    • Gil hammered for seven runs against Orioles
Luis Gil allowed seven runs in 1 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Orioles on Thursday.

Advice: Gil gave up eight hits, walked two and struck out one. He was due to have a bad start. Gil entered the game with a .194 BABIP allowed and 83 percent left on base percentage. Both of those took a hit in the seven-run blow up. Gil’s ERA is up to 2.77 on the season. He’ll look to bounce back against the Mets on the road next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:27 pm
