    • Moves to third in order
Semien batted third and went 1-for-5 with a run scored in Monday's 6-3 win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Texas manager Bruce Bochy tweaked the batting order, having Semien hit third for the first time this season. Josh Smith, who had been batting third, took over as the leadoff hitter. Bochy told Kennedi Landry of MLB.com that the change was part of integrating Josh Jung into the lineup. "We're just tweaking it a little bit here," the manager said. "With Jung coming back, you're gonna see a little different lineup. So we wanted to take a look at it here in this series and maybe farther." It's unclear if the switch was for only right-handers or all pitchers. Jung, who was activated off the 60-day injured list Monday, did not play in that night's game, so more changes could be coming once Jung returns to the field. Rotowire.com Today, 4:45 am
    • Plays hero Monday
Carroll hit a walk-off, two-run home run in Monday's 9-8 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Carroll started the game on the bench to avoid a matchup with left-handed pitcher Mitchell Parker. That left Carroll to come in off the bench, pinch hitting for Kevin Newman in the ninth inning. The homer was Carroll's sixth over his last 16 contests, giving him eight long balls on the year. The outfielder is hitting .236 (13-for-55) in that span, though that's an improvement on his .214 batting average for the season. He's added a .662 OPS, 38 RBI, 66 runs scored and 20 stolen bases over 103 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:05 pm

    • Corbin Carroll delivers walkoff homer off bench
Pinch-hitter Corbin Carroll delivered a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to give the Diamondbacks a walkoff 9-8 win over the Nationals on Monday.

Advice: Ketel Marte also homered in Arizona’s five-run ninth. Carroll’s was considerably more shocking, especially since he was serving as a pinch-hitter against closer Kyle Finnegan. The 397-foot blast matched his fourth longest shot of the season. Four of his five blasts to travel that distance have come since July 7, which seems like a good sign. • Takes no-decision versus Astros
Skenes allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings in a no-decision versus the Astros on Monday.

Advice: The three walks were a season high for Skenes, who wasn't as quite in the zone as he has been for the better part of the last two months. The 22-year-old still recorded his eighth straight quality start. Skenes is at a 1.90 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 103:16 K:BB through 80.2 innings over 13 starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:29 pm
    • Goes yard Monday
Adames went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 8-3 win over Atlanta.

Advice: This was Adames' second multi-hit effort over nine games since the All-Star break. He's batting .286 (10-for-35) with two homers and four RBI in that span. The shortstop is up to a .249/.333/.435 slash line with 17 long balls, 71 RBI, 57 runs scored, 12 stolen bases and 24 doubles over 106 contests as an all-around productive batter. • Paul Skenes holds Astros to two runs in no-decision
Paul Skenes struck out six over six two-run innings — one of those runs earned — in a no-decision versus the Astros on Monday.

Advice: Skenes was hurt by his defense, but he didn’t have his best command as he issued three walks and threw 65-of-101 pitches for strikes. The right-hander saw both runs score off him in the fifth on a fielder’s choice and an error by Ke’Bryan Hayes. This wasn’t Skenes at his best, but nevertheless he gave up just one earned run in six innings against a solid Houston lineup and saw his ERA drop to 1.90. Even as a rookie, he’s already one of the best pitchers in the sport. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:10 pm
    • Willy Adames its three-run homer in win over ATL
Willy Adames hit a three-run homer to help the Brewers to an 8-3 win over Atlanta on Monday.

Advice: Adames turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead with a three-run blast off Jesse Chavez in the sixth inning. The shortstop also singled twice for a three-night night, which is always a good time. Adames hasn’t had a ton of these in 2024, but he has helped in the power category with 17 homers while driving in a strong 71 runs with a .768 OPS. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:45 pm

    • Getting breather Monday
Carroll is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Carroll had started in Arizona's last two matchups versus southpaws, but he'll take a seat Monday while the Nationals send lefty Mitchell Parker to the bump. Jake McCarthy will fill in for Carroll as the Diamondbacks' starter in right field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:56 pm

    • Won't pitch back-to-back days
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that he will not use Williams in back-to-back days for the time being, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Williams made his season debut with the Brewers on Sunday against the Marlins after recovering from multiple stress fractures in his back, working around one hit and one walk to toss a scoreless frame. That means Williams will unavailable Monday against Atlanta should a save chance arise. With Trevor Megill (back) landing on the injured list Monday, Joel Payamps, Hoby Milner and Elvis Peguero could be in the mix for some opportunities on days Williams is unavailable.
